October 15, 2005 anyone?

My parents are joining us on the cruise!

We extended an invite to my folks to join us, and they just made their reservation. It will be a multi-celebration cruise - my dad's birthday is Oct 17, their anniversary is Oct 20 and my birthday is Oct 20th too.

That, and some 'grandparents' around when our two boys want some adult interaction.

I wish they would still have that, but I bet it is only for the Mexican west coast cruises. Mabye I will try the Martini tasting! :goodvibes

I am just getting so excited about this trip...>Ya know the feeling? Butterflies in the tummy when you think about it?? Unless there is something wrong with me??? LOL :rotfl:

FYI! ::MickeyMo Disney stores has 50% off almost everything in the store. Got DD the cutes Lizzie M halter dress and sandals for the cruise. All swimwear is cheap and they have matching Family tropical Mickey shirts, dresses and flip flops 50% off. ::MickeyMo

I checked out the Yahoo meet and it is looking good. :cloud9:

Wayne -
Yes, Dylan received Mathew's letter. But it arrived while grandma was in the hospital & now he is away at camp. He started writing a return letter and wishes to include some pictures of his new quad that he got last month. He returns on Saturday night, so I'll send it out on Monday. Tell Matthew he should receive it towards the end of next week.
As far as MNSSHP, we plan on going October 23rd. We are only staying two nights at Coronada Springs after the cruise, but our plane does not depart until 7:00 pm - so we should be able to spend time in the parks for most of the day. Where are you staying before and after the cruise?

What do you guys think about starting a list of who's going to DW before and after the cruise and where everyone is staying?

Paul - Could we set up another database in yahoo?

My info:
October 14th - Airport Hyatt
October 22nd & 23rd - Coronada Springs

Just a thought.
Marnie

I signed up on the database, but in case there is a tally both places, there are going to be three of us. Not sure about our other friends, as they don't really read the board.

I checked the yahoo database this morning before I left for work and there are 20 people so far who've signed up for lunch on our first day at sea (that would be Sunday, right?).

That's awesome!!

Thanks Paul!! You are too good!! :cool1:

Ok, I need suggestions...My co-workers roll their eyes  When I asked them stuff like this. LOL :rotfl:

Should I do the Spa massage on the 2nd sea day or wait till the sea day at the end of our cruise????? Ahhhhhhh such decisions we must make. Early in the cruise would be great to get relaxed and exfoiliated..... :cloud9: BUT, I might need a massage after the horseback ride and Island exploring...Hmmm wish I could do both!

When are any of you planning your Spa times???

If it were me I'd save the massage until the near the end of the cruise - after horseback riding sounds like a good idea (but then, I don't ride well or often so maybe it's more necessary in my situation?? :teeth: )

I know that we're going to get Rainforest passes again like we did last year - we used that everyday for at least an hour. And I think I'm going to try to schedule the naughty mud-bath for our second day at sea. We're going to try for the cabana massage on Castaway Cay. Last year we had our couples massage as part of REAS on Friday afternoon as the ship was leaving castway cay and it was a great way to get in some last minute relaxation before the final picture buying / packing scramble.

I'm really excited about the hotel we're staying at before the cruise - Portofino Bay at Universal Studios has a Mandara Spa. We're going to indulge a bit there before the cruise (I've got my eye on a coconut scrub / milk wrap that sounds fabulous).

B.

That Coconut scrub and milk bath sounds wonderful!!! :cloud9:

I do ride almost everyday so I would probably be ok after the ride, but it is a good excuse for a massage.

I am still thinking of doing the Ginger lime and salt glow with half body massage. :goodvibes I may schedule that for later in the day on our 2nd sea day and then if I get enough Birthday money I will schedule another reg massage later in the cruise. "dreaming"!! :cloud9: Or maybe I will win the Lottery.............. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am still not sure where we will stay our first night?? Guess it depends on discount codes, but we are definetly staying at Cape Canaveral the night before the cruise.

Paul - You rock!

I think I would do the spa towards the end of the cruise. I've never had a message so I'm not sure whether to sign up or not. Of course, at the beginning of the cruise would be awesome also - kind of starting the cruise off right.

Decisions... decisions :confused3

Ideally we could all have a massage at the beginning of the cruise as well as at the end!

Now we just need someone to foot the bill...... :teeth:

Marnie,
You should atleast try the Spa taster....then you get a bit of a massage and the facial. Plus the price is not all that bad! :cloud9:

I love the Spa so much! There is no way I could do two unless I did win the lottery... :teeth: It is a bit pricey after the cost of the service and the tip!
Although I do think it is so worth it!! Not often you get pampered like that. Atleast not me..... :goodvibes So I am going to squeeze in something.

You all have a nice weekend!! :grouphug:

I'm really excited about the hotel we're staying at before the cruise - Portofino Bay at Universal Studios...
A very nice place indeed! Have you stayed there before? We stayed there for a few nights before a BCV stay in early December of 2003. We loved it! Beautiful grounds and rooms, several good places for Italian food (naturally), and of course, front-of-the-line access at Universal!

Here are a few PBH pictures I took while we were there: Portofino Bay Pictures . The room in the pictures is a "Kids Suite" which you won't be interested in, but it still illustrates the quality of the room.

Cap'n Sam,
Thanks for the picture links! I saw something on the Travel Channel a few months ago about Portofino Bay and suggested it to the hubby since we haven't been to Universal in almost ten years. When we go to Orlando we never seem to leave the Mouse House anymore. :teeth:

It looks absolutely gorgeous. And I'm open to dining suggestions. We were thinking of going to Emeril's one night over at CityWalk but other than that...who knows. And we love good Italian food.

Have a great weekend everyone, and take extra good care of your teeth. No more breakages between now and October, ok????

Just added our names to Dislunch database, upto 27 now.

I have my last (fingers crossed) appointment with dentist next Wednesday

Marnie,
We are staying at the Best Western Lakeside (Formerly Laquinta Lakeside) On the 192. Stayed there a couple of times before, nothing special but don't spend a lot of time there. I have booked thru Virgin. they have 2 branches to their travel company, Flight only (Virgin Atlantic) & Virgin Holidays. To book flight only was going to cost £2,108.20 but to book thru their holiday branch £1784.60 including 3 weeks accomodation at the Lakeside. So we saved over £300 and free hotel.

Probably the "Great Hotels" segment with Samantha Brown? I taped that one a few months before our trip...Probably watched it a couple of dozen times while waiting for the trip to arrive! :teeth:

Ditto! That trip was the first time in years that we did anything outside of Mickey's borders.
And I'm open to dining suggestions.
There are certainly plenty of places to choose from, including a second Emeril's restaurant (Tchoup Chop) over at Universal's Royal Pacific Hotel. As for the restaurants at Portofino Bay, we really enjoyed our meal at Mama Della's Ristorante. There are a couple of more casual (fast-food type) restaurants, plus one that is more upscale than Mama Della's (Delfino Riviera). I would like to have tried Delfino, but as well-behaved as my children are, I thought Mama Della's was pushing the envelope far enough! :rotfl:

Oh, and CityWalk also has a Pat O'Brien's...Stop in and have a hurricane for me! :drinking1
...take extra good care of your teeth.
Funny you should mention that...I go Wednesday morning for my dental implant. So, don't hold me responsible for any posts Wednesday afternoon while the sedation is wearing off and the pain killers are kicking in!

YES! That's exactly what we saw on the Travel Channel. I love that show...I just end up wanting to stay at a Ritz Carlton everytime we go someplace and that's definitely not in the budget! :teeth:

Good luck with yer gums next week.

When we made our res, we had a "category 6 guaranteed" status. I've been secretly wishing for an upgrade. Don't know if that will happen or not, but today I see that we got our cabin assignment - 6060 (port side, middle of the ship, next to the mid-bank elevators). My first reaction was "elevator/crowd noise." Did a quick search here and found that question raised before. The common answer was little or no noise, VERY convenient to the 5th floor kids centers (just down the stairs). This trip is starting to seem a bit more real!

HI! my 3 year old's surgery went well! we had to stay a few extra days but he came home today and is running around like normal... :cool1:

i will go to the yahoo site next but count us in for 3 for lunch...we'll leave the kids at the club!!!

we are now planning what we want to do on each island...i read a thread that talked about getting guavaberry (?) rum in St. Maaarten...has anyone ever bought this and know where to buy it? It sounds yummy...the poster said they used it to make coladas :wizard: Anyone else know of some good shops for tshirts and wrap around skirts???

I hope everyone else is doing well...sounds like everyone is planning like me right now!

I just checked the database this morning and we're up to 32 for DISlunch!! I'm going to call DCL this weekend and start feeling them out on the best way for us to organize this little shindig.

Happy Father's Day to all all you dads out there...hope you have a great weekend!
