Regarding the voucher- I think since you had ordered the points via the internet - the front desk at Courtyard should be able to pull that information up.

I have two rooms using our rewards and they confirmed the points have been removed and the staff just has to check their internal system. We have another room and because my Brother In Law will be checking in earlier, we had to order a special guest certificate in which the Customer Service (Marriott) went ahead and faxed the cert to Courtyard. Give reservations at Marriott a call just to confirm that that is the case. Hopefully this helps... I PM'ed you also....

We will arrive at the Courtyard Cocoa Beach late Friday around 8:00 p.m. -- we arrive in a HUMMERZINE

Hey guys...just wondering if anyone can suggest some light fiction for the trip? I love to read but most of my interests are of an historical nature and quite frankly I don't want to lug around John Keegan's history of WWII while I'm on vacation.

Last year I brought The Secret Life of Bees with me and it was just about right, although a little sad. Of course these days I can cry while watching Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica...go figure!

Anyway, if someone has a suggestion (and I already have read the new Harry Potter about 3 times, so cross that off the list) I'd appreciate it. I'm going to try to run to Borders before my manicure this afternoon.

call me biased, but I say, go out and get the Chronicles of Narnia... or just The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. to get you pumped about the movie coming out in December. As for the movie... think LOTR in bright vibrant colors...

Have seen the previews and it looks awesome! I read those books when I was a wee little bairn...they were so good that I've been giving them to my nieces as Christmas and birthday gifts.

I have not read those yet, but my brother-in-law swears by them. I was waiting until the whole series was published so I could buy them in one sweep. I appreciate the suggestions...just have to see what jumps out at me once I get to the store.

My latest reads have been very heavy - in the case of "The Historian", literally, and in the case of "We Wish to Inform You That Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with Our Families", figuratively. I wouldn't recommend either for cruise reading.

If you like historic or non-fiction novels but don't want something too heavy, Isaac's Storm is quite good. The Rule of Four is also very good. Here are a couple of other favorites in the non-fiction and/or historic genre:

Honor Lost: Love and Death in Modern Day Jordan
Leap of Faith: Memoirs of an Unexpected Life (Queen Noor's Autobiography)

If you want total lighthearted fluff, I liked the Shopaholic series of books by Sophie Kinsella, as well as Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination by Helen Fielding.

I just finished Oh Pure and Radiant Heart... it was good, but like you said, not really cruise reading.

All this conversation about Friday evening and where people are staying etc...Is there anyone still around that is staying at the Radisson in Port Canaveral.... THere was discussion quite some time ago about meeting by the pool wearing are Mardi Gras beads....Is that still on??? Hey Michelle, thanks for the tip on Grills...I looked at the web site and it sounds perfect! I think I'll try to talk hubby into it, and we may see you. Our flight doesn't get into Orlando until about 4:30 so it will probably be at least 6:00 before we even check into the Radisson. Of course that's only 4:00 Denver time.

I read a Dan Brown (The Da Vinci Code guy) book on our cruise last January, that was good. This year I'm bringing the new book by Terry Pratchett called Thud. I'm a big fan of his, and its been really hard not reading that book yet (I've had it for a few weeks) so I could save it for a poolside read...

Oh, I'm only about a quarter of the way into it now. It is very good thus far, and I really like the way that it is written, but it is just such a big, long book that I get a little intimidated every time I pick it up. I feel like I'm not making progress and that makes me just avoid it.

As for Dan Brown, I read Angels & Demons on my last vacation, which was a prequel of sorts to Da Vinci Code. It was good but horribly violent and graphic in parts. Anyway, I liked it much better than Da Vinci Code, but I wasn't a huge Da Vinci Code fan anyway (not for political or religious reasons - just didn't care for it). IMO, the Rule of Four is a very similar style of book to Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, but less violent and better written.

Look at us... we're turning our cruise meet into book club!

I'm bringing along Disney War and Kiss the Girls . Kiss the Girls is pretty creepy sounding -- but I figure I'd feel safer reading it on a Disney Cruise rather than at home...alone...in the dark.

My big weekly meeting from heck is over, so my week is pretty much a slow coast downhill from here. I still haven't packed yet. It's my night-before-vacation tradition to run around freaking out and packing.

Hey B.,

We are flying into Orlando on Friday morning. Leaving Milwaukee at 7:30 am. We are staying at the Airport Hyatt on Friday night (didn't know any better). We plan on just hanging around the room and the Hyatt pool (they better have one) on Friday. Maybe a nice dinner at the Hyatt restaurant (they better have one of those too)!!

We wanted to go to MNSSHP on the Saturday after the cruise but someone here squashed that idea. No MNSSHP on Saturday.

Had I read these boards earlier I never would have booked the Hyatt at $175.00 a night!! Next time I'll know better.

I broke down and bought The Devil in the White City I've been wanting to read it for while but was waiting for the paperback release. It's not a cheerful read but it sounds fascinating. Paige - it's written by the same author who wrote Isaac's Storm which I did not read because I watched the 2-hour special on the History Channel. Talk about fascinating stuff!

Another good read, although maybe not for cruise time, is The Plot Against America by Phillip Roth.

Hey Paul - the newest Lemony Snicket book is being released on October 18th. The guy at Borders couldn't tell me if this is the last one in the series or not...shame on him!

Nancy - We changed our Hyatt reservations when Hotwire lowered their prices. A couple weeks ago I posted that Hotwire had it for $74.
My mom arrives by herself at around 9:30 and will be checking into the Hyatt, we won't arrive till closer to midnight. So you'll probably be sleeping by then!
Maybe whoever is staying at the Hyatt should meet for breakfast the following morning?

On the book subject, my son is bringing some Mordred book and he's just going to pick one for me to read.

Whew! Just finished loading the van....Took some engineering to get everything in. You know that old rule about cruising: "Pack everything you think you need, and then take out half of it"? Well, I think we took it to heart...We packed everything we thought we needed and then added half again to it!

I'm leaving in about an hour to pick up the wife and kids at school and then we are headed straight out of town from there. We'll be in Georgia tonight, and then at the Saratoga Springs Resort the next two nights. I may check in from SSR sometime Friday, but if not...See you on the Magic! Just three more days until we're onboard!
