October 15, 2005 anyone?

Thanks Brenda,

I know that I saw somewhere last year before we went on our cruise the price list. I just can't remember where. :confused3 I did get my formal dress dry cleaned/ironed, but again I can't remember the price. I think to just iron is 1/2 the price of dry cleaning whatever that is???? I will keep looking. :magnify:

No go on the drycleaning, Jen. The navigators don't even mention it. I checked my handy-dandy Passporter guide and it mentions dry cleaning but doesn't provide a price. I want my money back!! :teeth:

Hi Jen.
I was going to search my passporter as well, but looks like Oybolshoi has already done that to no avail. I could have sworn there was something in there on dry cleaning. SO I went to several other sites to look it up....NOTHING!!!! all I could find was this little quote from someone on the cruisecritic.com's boards which really doesn't tell us anything.

"There is a laundry service that includes dry cleaning and pressing at very good prices. "

I wil keep looking as well....I know I've seen it somewhere.
Diane.

I hate spiders. I mean I can't stand them. They creep me out the way that few crawly critters do, and I am not a fan of bugs in general.

I went downstairs to perform some routine maintenance on the ol' catbox and there was this nasty spider waiting at the foot of the stairs. It was a big 'un...not one of those little guys you can squish with your shoe (which I would never do because I don't want spider-uck on my shoes). :scared1:

If Jason had been here it would have been his sacred duty as the man of the house to dispose of my eight-legged nemesis...but he works late on Wednesday evenings. So....I sprayed hallf a can of Raid Flying Insect repellent on it then sort of smushed it with a box and then sucked it up with the dustbuster. I'm scared to dump out the dustbuster though, just in case I didn't kill it thoroughly enough. ;)

I have the heebie-jeebies now. I know this is the time of year that the spiders like to come out...lots of rain, its getting cooler...but they just need to scuttle right on by my humble little abode. Yuck!!

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest...I get no sympathy from the cat (he just wanted to play with it) and Jason will just laugh his head off when he gets home tonight (after he dumps the dustbuster!). :teeth:

Brenda

Thanks everyone for welcome, * Paige, be careful, this too shall pass*

As for me, having a crummy day, car problems when I left work, and her in S. Calif we can't go to the corner without a car - so its off to the mechanics tomorrow morning. Here a quick bio of my family, actually it goes along the lines of BABYJOSIE98 bio!

Matt & I (Griselda) are both 33, not married, together off and on for over 11-12 years (I lost track), we have a 7 yr old, Mia, turning eight the 22nd of Oct. I feel bad that my baby will be spending her birthday flying across the US!

Lets see, Matt is a cell site tech. for Verizon Wireless out here, I'm a office manager (secretary?) for an elementary school - works out good, my daughter and I are on the same schedule so we usually take more trips while her dad has to work ( :teeth: ). We decided about 2 years ago to give it one last chance at making it work, so we are currently living together and for someone reason, it seems to be working this time around. We joke that as soon as she leaves for college we'll go our seperate ways (but the dog goes with me!). Mia keeps us busy with soccer, basketball, cheerleading and acting in plays. I joke that she needs to get a personal assistant to give me more time to scrapbook!!! Cant wait to meet you all, looking forward to the tag game!

Oh man, did I pull a Homer. While looking over my flight itinerary, I realized I booked my return flight after the cruise on Sunday the 23rd instead of Saturday. Change fees will be about $200, which is steep but still cheaper than another night of lodging, meals, and the temptation to hang around WDW for a week or two!

Bios? OK, here's a quick one:

I'm 39, DW is 37 and two boys - Benji just turned 8 and Jonah is 4 (going on 8). I'm a huge WDW nut and would like nothing more than an annual trip there. Alas, other commitments make that tough. This will be our first cruise. The reason for this event is to celebrate my 40th birthday. Anything Disney will fit the bill!

I grew up in Indianapolis, my wife moved around a lot but considers Cleveland home. We both came to the DC area 16 years ago, and met soon thereafter while working on Capitol Hill. We're both in the IT industry working as consultants to the Govt. We recently celebrated our 11th anniversary, by getting away w/o the kids to Jamaica!

My parents will be joining us on the cruise, but right now they're on their second retirement trip through Australia (first trip was in 2002-03 for eight months, and we got to visit them there!). My family lived in Sydney from 1963-66 on business, and I was born there (I got to see the hospital I was born in on our recent visit). Eight months wasn't enough for my parents, so they're 'down under' again. They get home five days before the cruise.

Enough rambling. Let's get cruising!

Any one have any tips on packing? I've read bubbles and Pirate attire... Anyone's daughter (or son..) bringing a princess dress?
:thewave:

Brenda, Although I'm not really scared of our eight legged friends, I'm afraid one got to Cabo (my puppy) today. He was fine when I left for work this morning, and when our son came home at noon to let him out, he could barely walk!! He's been sleeping a lot and when I touch his little leg, he cries. I can't imagine what else it could be. Fine one minute, and the next minute he's a totally different dog. (He is locked up in a kennel all day so I know he didn't get into something).

DD thinks Cabo is trying to get out of puppy classes tomorrow. Maybe he heard us make his vet appointment for rabies shots tomorrow. :dog:

I would think that if he was hurt from his little garage door incident on Monday, that he would have been hurting much sooner than two days later.

Poor little Pooch! :guilty:

Brenda, I think you need this guy:

:rotfl2:

Now if that spider had been sittin' on your documents the day they were delivered, I bet you would have dispatched him without fear or hesitation! :rotfl:

Since everyone has been providing their bios, I guess I'll take a turn at the podium.

Boom, Boom, BOOOM! Is this thing on?

Hi, I'm Sam, and I'm a Disney-aholic...

(Everyone respond: Hi Sam...)

I'm 43, my DW Lisa is 41, and our children are Scott (12), Alex (9), and Abby (5, turning 6 on St. Martin/Pirate day). We've been North Carolinians now for almost 16 years, but Lisa and I are both originally from central Alabama. We met at the University of Alabama while marching together in the band. Lisa and I went to WDW for our honeymoon (1989), and if I'm counting correctly, our brief visit there before this cruise will be our 14th trip to WDW since our honeymoon. We have been on one other cruise - the Disney Wonder in June, 2004.

I'm a software engineer and Lisa is an elementary-school teacher. Our children all love Disney, too. (Abby doesn't hardly go anywhere without her trusty Pooh Bear.) They're great kids, although I'm thinking of changing Alex's name to "Experiment 636"...He and Stitch just have to be from the same lab! :teeth:

Sports? I love football (both college and pro), and enjoy baseball (although less so than football).

Thanks! I'll sit back down now... :earsboy:

Kevin and tag friends,

Just thinking if Sept 30th is the cutoff for tag sign up, is that also the cut off for updating our cabin numbers? A few people out there have gotten upgrades so don't forget to update the yahoo site with your new cabin number so we can "tag" the right cabin.

I bought enough gifts for 20 cabins. Looks like I may be shopping again this weekend. :Pinkbounc What fun!!!!

By the end of this weekend I want to be 99% packed. The 1% will be my cruise docs. Come on....DOCS!!!!!!!!! :wizard:

Nancy :wave2:

Thanks alot Brenda & Diane for checking out the dry cleaning for me. :sunny: I too, had looed in my passporters. I thought they had EVERYTHING. :confused3 :goodvibes Anyway, I told my husband he has no choice...W'ere bringing the garment bag. :) He loves me. :love2:

Spiders? I can handle spiders. It's centipedes that get me. I am deathly afraid of them. I will wake my husband up from a deep sleep to kill one. I tell him it's his husbandly duty to protect me and our home and kill the nasty thing(s). ;)

Last night we had tornado warning after tornado warning. They were calling it a super cell. Lot's of schools cancelled do to tornado/straight line wind damage. My kids were hoping that their school would be one of them. No such luck. :) I guess we should be counting our blessings. Nothing is compared to those in Rita's path. I pray all is well with Paige & her family.

Have a super day everyone! :sunny:

I just reread some posts on yahoo and this thread... question:is the plan for everyone to wear mardi-gras beads at embarkation still on?
TIA!

To answer Nancy's question I would say this: Everyone who wants to play should sign up and update their cabin number by September 30. If someone gets an upgrade after that date just let everyone know when we get together at the Promenade Lounge on the 16th. Sound OK to the rest of you?

Kevin, who's been kind enough to coordinate all of this, will be leaving for Mickey's House a week before the cruise so let's make this as easy for him as possible. Thanks Kevin!!!

Spider update...I'm calling the exterminator today - Sam, do you have that guy's phone number? :teeth:

Jo - I am not planning on wearing mardi gras beads on embarkation day; I'm already going to be carrying enough stuff as it is! :goodvibes

Have a good one everybody.... leaving for Floirda in exactly three weeks!! :Pinkbounc

I work at a large cable company (soon to be broke into pieces) as a Network Engineer. I'm the guy that makes sure your surfing works and works fast. Mollie is the director of domestic security at our house.

I (Jo) am 48 and my husband Danny is 49. we will have been married 30 years on Oct 11th, and this cruise is to celebrate :sunny:
We met while in high school, and dated for 9 months before we bacame engaged, then were engaged for nine months before we married!

We have a DD 29 and a DD 21. DD29 works at the Memphis Zoo as a animal keeper and DD#2 is a senior in college majoring in French.

Danny is a partner in a CPA firm here in Memphis Tn. His hobbies are muscle cars, nascar, aviation and Irish music.

I work part time at The Disney Store in Memphis, I have worked various retail jobs off and on, during the last 30 years. I love all things Disney, I grew up watching animation and loved to draw cartoons in high school.
My hobbies are reading suspense and mystery novels and traveling.

This will be our first cruise on the Magic, but I have done 6 Wonder cruises.
Danny has done 4 Wonder cruises.

Perdidobay,

That Idea to wear the Mardi Gras beads are so we know that we are all from our 10-15-05 DIS boards thread... :cool1: :cool1: While in line to board the Magic. Most of us are getting to port early that day! :teeth:

So it is up too you!

I will have a string of beads around my neck and so will Josie... :flower:

This is our first trip on the MAGIC too...I had to cancel the family trip we had booked for Jan 03 and I ended up going with my Aunt and Uncle on the Wonder instead in Nov of 02...Bitter sweet but fun...It was hard seeing all the happy families. Then I went on the Wonder again in 2003 with a whole group of family and friends!! Very fun time!!

I am happy to be excited again about going on the MAGIC! ::MickeyMo
DD and I love WDW and DCL...We sneak away anytime Southwest has a $49 sale!!

Bios(phere) Smith’s

Hello to all...My name is Kevin Smith (aka d’Isigny) --------and I am a Disney addict (echo - Hello Kevin!!). [Be afraid - SamR and I had the same idea]

For 39 of my 44 years I’ve lived in Phoenix, Arizona - a transplant from Millville/Vineland, New Jersey (or - so my parents tell me...cus’ I don’t remember much/anything about NJ). I’ve been employed by General Electric Appliances in various capacities for over 15 1/2 years. My current title is “Director of Adult Day Care”....AKA - Productivity Specialist....AKA - Dispatcher. What I really am is an ‘exceptions handler’. Anything that deviates from center...falls in my lap. Some day....some one...will explain to me why I have a degree in Medical Radiography and do the work that I do - anyone....anyone? For the past 8 ½ years, I have been employed by Historic First Presbyterian Church as a Sound/Video Technician. I create/reuse about 200 Power Point slides for each Sunday’s service. During the service, I move the files (announcement, song and sermon) and oversea a couple of youth that run the sound board.
I have a passion for strong coffee, sports and ebay. I watch/attend as many Diamondbacks games as I can. My best sports moment came on a November evening, in 2001, as a spectator for game 7 of the world series (sorry - Gia/Dave). I still get chills knowing - I WAS THERE!!! :cheer2: I root for the Dallas Cowboys and any team playing the Philadelphia Eagles (those fans will even boo and throw snow balls at Santa Clause - that’s not right). I am normally one that just buys items off of ebay...however, these past two months, I’ve started selling items I had convinced Nancy were ‘investment pieces’. OK...great deals that I felt I could turn and double my money. Well...I just have to chuckle at what people will buy...and the amount they will pay. I’ve made a pretty ‘good chunk’ of extra money we will be able to turn over to Michael Eisner and stock holders in just a few weeks.

Nancy is my bride of almost 20 years. The reason for this cruise is to celebrate October, 19th...as our 20th anniversary. We've known each other since High School but did not get together till after we graduated. We were both in marching band...she a flag girl and I a drummer. She is also 44...but....yes....3 months older than I. So, I got that going for me - which is nice. She is a native Phoenician, but longs to live in a po-dunk little town on the edge of nowhere...that has ALL four seasons - not just two. A domestic engineer that keeps much busier than I tending to our 3 lovely ‘gifts’. Adding to this as a Deacon at our church and a board member at our DD’s school. Needless to say...her schedule is just ‘plain crazy’. Her passion includes shopping, camping, travel and anything Ikea.

We are blessed to have 3 healthy, curious and highly active (or radioactive) daughters - Karin (11), Kelsey (8) and Kristen (5). We are celebrating that this is the first year all go to school for a full day.

All are counting down the days till we return to Disney property and The Magic. This trip has been a ‘wish our heart has made’ and we are counting down the days till we start our adventure. Blessings on all for safe travel to Florida, as well as, your return home. Till we meet face to face......K

Thanks Jo for the laundry list. It's appreciated. :)

My sister gave me 2 green mardi gras necklaces so I plan on wearing those.
That is unless my DH protests to much. :)
