October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

I just read the thread too and it made me cry. We have been so blessed and I am going to keep them in my prayers.

On a more cheerful note...... a got a tip about see through over the door shoe holders to help organize in the room, found some inexpensive ones at Dollar General for 2 dollars (woo-hoo! ..... a bargain!)

How much are passports? Does the cost vary depending where you go? Do you ever have to get new ones or renew for adults or kids, or are they good a lifetime? As you can see, I have no idea about them (other than I know we will need them next year)!

http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html
This link is to a passport information site that tells you how to apply and has the online form to fill out and print, you need that.
This link is to a search engine to find a convienent place in your area to apply:
http://iafdb.travel.state.gov/

You need two pictures per person when you apply. Walmart charged us 10 dollars a person( for a total of 40 dollars) the post office wants 15 dollars a person.
You need embossed original birth certificate for each person that will be returned to you after 6 weeks with your passport acceptance or denial.
Adults need picture I.D. like a drivers license.
The post office charged us 120.00 for filing the paperwork
the government charged us 238.00. SO all together we paid approximately
$398.00 for 4 people to apply for passports.
If you are divorced you need some sort of signed permission slip from the other parents to alllow you to take minor children with you.

OKay Bev, you so got me beat!!! I thought I was the only "over-achiever" in the plannig department. I think I have met my match. :teeth:

Also, to add to Bev's comments on passporters. I have heard that 75 day's out from sail date they, meaning Disney wants you passport number. So in other words you will need to have it in your hand that many day's before sail date. :)

Jen I am extremely organized, my family rolls their eyes at me:confused3, LOL but I just love being organized, makes life go so much more smoothly. I think passports are good for around 10 to 12 years (unsure) but pictures for children must be renewed very 2 years ( I think).
I am running a program with packing tips and another with suggested cruise tips we found that show promise. Anyone wants to see them I haven't finished proofing them but will send a rough draft to anyone who is interested. I need to go through and elimintae duplicates.

Okay guys we were on page 3 again! How is everyone?

We have been so busy! I have family staying in town since Thursday & they leave on Tuesday morning. I love them, but I will be glad to get my house back. I love to cook, but I am just worn out. After Tuesday my family is going to be eating Mac-N-Cheese for the rest of the week. :teeth:

Anyway, just checking in & bumping us back to the 1st page.

-Bye! :wave2:

Well Jen, we can't stay on page three cause thats just wrong!
ANyway we bought some laser jet printable magnetic sheets to make door magnets and magnets to give away to other cruisers that we meet.

Okay Bev, you are so way ahead of me, and that is just wrong! :rotfl:
Anyway, This week I am definetly getting some magnetic paper & the green mickey's from Home depot. I have to keep up w/ you. :teeth:

Jen,
I hope you will let us see what you create! You will be aheaqd of me. I haven't even begun to plan what to design. I need something really special for our 25th wedding anniversary. I need to take a break to plan a vacation for this fall........:surfweb:

Hi All - Been busy around here

Sue
We've been busy too. When does everyones kids get out of school? The 22nd of May is our last day and the 13th is the last day of college.

I believe the 2nd week of June for the public schools. Guess I should check since I watch my 9yo nephew and 6yo niece in the summer.

Hi all. My name is Kate. I might be related to Bev although I don't like to admit it(jk mom). I am going on the cruise with her. I will be 17 when we go. I am trying to find other teens who are going but I am not having much luck.

Well, as of right now our oldest will not be going due to the first semester of college (DSS, will be 18 then) and where he will actually be is up in the air. :teacher: But that may change!

However, I will say that he just went with us on our first DCL cruise last fall (age 16) and ABSOLUTELY loved it. He met so many kids and we barely ever saw them, he was off having LOTS of fun. We weren't sure since it was during end of Sept and we didn't know how many older kids would be sailing. His main concern was missing his soccer games and not school when we were on the ship.

It's still quite early, I'm sure you will meet some teens out there.

Thanks so much! I am will keep posting looking for people. Especially the closer the cruise gets.

So do I have to wait till I actually book the cruise to join you all?! :) I have to talk to DH about a few things before I book... but this is the cruise we'll be on! I should be booking within the week.

We're celebrating 10 years (!!!) of marriage :cool1: with this cruise. It's the first time either of us have cruise, but we've been to WDW many times. Also it just so happens that DHs birthday will be during this cruise, too, lol.

I'll be reading some more to catch up... but it's nice meeting everyone!

Welcome.... Guess what?! This is our 10th wedding anniversary cruise too!!!! :cool1: Our wedding was 10/11/97, and we wanted to do the Eastern so we will be sailing just 2 days late. I can't wait even though it is soooooo far away. Our little ones will be 6 and 8 next year. My baby's b-day is this Sunday and he will be 5 already!

Have a great week!
Penny

Its great to have anniversary cruisers along, makes it extra special doesn't it? :cool1:
