October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

Hello fellow cruisers, I think my family and I have decided to go to WDW for a couple of days before the cruiese and we will use ME however I think we prefer to use a towncar service for the trip to port and then back to the airport afterwards, any one have any experience with a reliable company, maybe we might even splurge and go with a limo,

I'll be away for the weekend... but I'll start seeing what I can come up with for a logo next week!!

Hi Cruisapaloozans!

It's been awhile since I've been here - welcome, new Paloozans!

Jen - what a great idea re: a logo!

Hope everyone is doing well & have a great weekend!
I need to get my butt in gear and get my passport renewed. Plus DS who just turned 3 doesn't even have one ::sigh::

Paloozans...I LIKE THAT!!!

I too have been away for a little bit...works been crazy. Plus, we just finished up with the 4th birthday within 4 weeks and 2 days in the Smith household.

Jenny2...hope you won't mind some assistance. I've got a 'mental vision' of a logo (nobody get scared - it's a good thing) and would like your opinion on it - can we share this task???

Well...it's WEEKEND....hope all have great plans and fun-fun-fun.

K

Thanks for sharing the joke, Bev. Too cute! :goodvibes

Just my input... I think the logo idea is great. :thumbsup2

Kevin... of course we can share!! I just got back from cold, snowy New England (nice to be back in sunny, warm NC, lol) and I haven't started yet. PM me with what you've got!

Hey, everyone! As promised, I've been keeping an eye on Hotwire. Just came across a 3 1/2 * at MCO for 94.00. Not sure if it's Hyatt though. I remember the Hyatt having "Tennis nearby". I'm going to wait it out a little longer. Here's the link:

Hey, everyone. I've been busy planning our trip to Universal Orlando in 2 weeks and I need to bring this prior post forward.

We are flying into Orlando at night for this trip also, so I've been keeping an eye on this 3 1/2* hotel on Hotwire for a 1 night stay. It finally went down to $77 tonight so after discussing with DW, we figured a short shuttle would be okay.

I thought it would be the Marriott because there is no "tennis nearby" icon. It is the Hyatt!!! I am ecstatic! :woohoo: Keep an eye on this hotel for 10/12. It is currently at $94 for that date.

Remember not to include children in your search because it will not show up. :confused3

I'm sure I'll go for it when the time comes, so I'll let everyone know. lol. :rotfl2:

SNicked, You got the Hyatt for $77. Good for you! I've been also keeping on eye on Hotwire and have not seen any 3 1/2 * w/ tennis nearby. I have been playing around with the dates to test the waters! Thanks for keeping us posted as promised!

Come on, people!! Where's our logo previews?? It's less than 200 days til we leave!!

PS: Found some cute ladies/girls socks with skull and crossbones in the dollar section at Target yesterday! Thought you ladies might want to pick some up for the POTC party!!

Hi Again everyone:beach: From Sunny FL

Could someone please explain the rotation dining to me. I understand we will be going to Animator's Palate one night, Parrot Cay another and Lumiere's another. And when we check in at the port on our keys will tell us how our rotation will be. But I have been reading that the "night" determines how you dress for dinner not the restaurant. It looks to me as if Lumiere's is a nice "dressy" kind of restaurant. Can someone explain what they mean when they say the night determines how you dress and not the restaurant? My DW and I also want to make a reservation at Palo's. Which night would you suggest? We don't want to miss the show at Animator's. My granddaughter would never let me live it down if we missed that!!!:guilty:  :sad2: :sad1::scared1:  My DW and I don't want to miss the show at Animator's Palate either!!! Also, we read in one of the forums about picking up lanyards for the kids at the check-in at Port Caniveral. Where do we do this and what is the lanyard for? (Does it show too bad just how much I don't know yet about our cruise? And, it is coming up FAST!!!!!:cool1:

I'll take a shot at this.
Dining rotation - there appears to be 3 rotations.
A=Animators Palate
P=Parrot Cay
L=Lumieres
If your traveling with young kids you'll more than likely get....APL
If your traveling with older kids...You'll more than likely get PLA
And if your traveling with adults you'll more than likely get LAP
so...if you have a younger child - your dining rotation will be APLAPLA

The show at Animators Palate will be held on the first night in each rotation - or...only for the first three nights. So....if you want to go to Palo and not miss the shot at AP....book palo at your 4th night or later.

Dress for diner - this was the 'type of dress on our 2005 cruise'. As we get closer...we should be able to check current navigators to see if things change - stay the same.
Sat - Casual
Sun - Formal
Mon - Casual
Tue - Pirate or Caribbean
Wed - Casual
Thurs - Semi-formal
Fri - Casual

You can call DCL and ask for a specific rotation - this will only be noted as a request..you can't be certian you will get what you want. If you get a rotation you don't want after check in at port...you can make your request for a change when you get on the ship. I am not sure if most of these get honored...or...not.

I hope this answers your question.

K

Kevin answered exactly what I was going to say. :goodvibes

In regards to the lanyards...Yes, you can buy them at port. They have a little shop where you can buy refreshments and very limited souvenirs. One of the souvenirs is a lanyard. You can also buy them on board. (they are the same as at port)
The lanyards are for your "key to the world card". The lanyards have a little plastic holder on them that you put your card in. The kids LOVE to have them around their neck with there very own card. :)

Now, just so you know. Everyone gets a card including the kids. That being said, ALL the cards can be used to open your cabin and to purchase things. What we did is went to guest services and had them de-activate our three kids cards. They still could open the cabin doors, but couldn't buy anything. ;) Also, when I did allow my oldest son to go to the arcade one time with his new friends. He just brought my card to use in purchasing games. I gave him a limit on what he could spend and trusted him not to go over. :)

Okay, I'm done. :goodvibes

Had to share in my excitement! (it doesn't take much). :)
Anyway, we finally purchased our airline tickets. I told my DH that now we definetly have to go! ;)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Sams Club has a good jumbo collapsible cooler for $24.99 that has a nice sized pocket on top for beach excursions. The cooler holds 52 soda cans plus ice and is leak proof.

Does anyone here take one? I thought I might pack it with a case of bottled water and take it with us. We are driving so we don't have to observe airline regulations.

snicksed, I have never used hotwire before, but I am very interested in using it to stay in the Hyatt (fingers-crossed) the night before our cruise. My question is...If you don't include children in your search than do you include them after you make the purchase and are giving them all your info?

Also, we are traveling 2 adults & four kids (14,13,10, & 6). Would I search for 2 rooms with 2 adults in each and then put in the children after the purchase? I have no idea how to go about this and any help/input from anyone is greatly appreciated. :confused3

Thanks!!! :)

I wanted to thank you Jenmack & Kevin for answering my questions for me. You guys have been very helpful. I hope my ignorance isn't showing too much. This will be our first cruise ever, and we chose to make the Disney Cruise our first. I know we made the right choice. And like so many first time cruisers we don't exactly know what we are to do. Like everyone else on here, we are as excited as kids in a candy shop with a pocket full of money to spend!!!! We have been planning this for what seems like forever. And, now it is coming up pretty fast and we realize just how much we don't know. And we don't seem to be anywhere close to having enough clothes bought for the cruise. (My lovely wife's words - not mine). Of course, I know my granddaughter will know everything. She is so much like her Dad, our son, it's plain scarrrrrrryyyy:scared1: And she is only 8 yrs old, but already she knows more then her Nana & Papa!!! We are in safe hands with AllSt - ooops - I mean darling granddaughter!!!!:thumbsup2
Again thanks you guys. I know before we all sail I will have more questions for ya'll.
