I learned that here on the DisBoards. It is awesome room service is free expect for the tip.......

I haven't even paid much attention to the possible excursions yet. I am interested in Maho to see the planes though. I've seen the videos and they look so cool. I noticed next fall they have a different port for the Eastern also. That's smart of them to mix them up, for repeat cruisers I think.

OK, I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO sick of snow already! It's still freakin' snowing. It took me almost 2 hours to get home this afternoon!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I had to go right back out for my dd's choir concert. Supposed to possibly snow again Thursday. And dd and I are supposed to do dinner and shopping with MIL at the Mall of American, 45 minutes from her Saturday, and guess what's in the weather forecast????

It's amazing at all the stuff I learned here as well. I feel like I've been there already. LOL

I know that is now what I am thinking maybe I shold wait to see waht they have in store for 2010. But if it is Europe or Alaska I really do not care for either of those places so I would not be on the ship.

Anyone else looking at 09??

Hey,

Look we are at over 1,600 posts now!!WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got up at the usual time of 6 and got my shower. At 630 I rechecked and school was on a 2 hour delay, at 7 when Connor got up, they changed that to canceled! We have our first snow day! Now, if we were in Cleveland, folks would be laughing! I didn't understand why they cancel school around here for just an inch or 2 of snow. Well, it seems that some people live back down these little one land roads and if the bus can't get there or be able to turn around, they cancel school! As I said before, thankfully, we don't get a whole lot of snow! Connor is suppose to go on a field trip tomorrow, but it might be canceled. This snow we are getting is suppose to turn to rain later today, making slush, and then after dark it is suppose to freeze making for an icy commute in the morning! If it does that, we won't have school tomorrow either...or at least have a delay.

I've already made cinnmon rolls for breakfast and have a pork chop recipe for the crock pot ready to go. Connor is eager to get out and sled down the street in front of the house. Our street is a small hill PERFECT for sledding! I told him to wait another hour to make sure that those that are going to go to work have cleared out of the 'hood. Also, it is snowing HARD. He'd be covered over in no time! LOL It's those great big flakes that are so pretty. And it is pretty...today.

Well, I better take advantage of the snow day and get some chores done...maybe even play a few board games with the boys!

As for cruise itinerary....I am not sure what we are going to do. We are interested in seeing the planes land, that is for sure! We were looking for a nice beach....family friendly beach. I'll have to look into Divi.

I thought the DCL wasn't launching new ships until 2011 and 2012? I was almost sure it was 2011 because we cruise every other year, and the year is evens, and I was thinking we might have to work out a way to do a cruise in 2010 then 2011 and 2012...and 2012 will be our 20th wedding anniversary! HAVE to be on that cruise! LOL

Colton just reported we have 2 inches of snow...and it's coming fast!!!
Stay warm!!

Michele,

Oh it sounds like a perfect day. But I must say I def. do not enjoy the snow as much as it sounds you all are..Two inches is funny to hear that school is cancelled. I bet Connor is going to enjy his day in the snow... Sounds like a nice family day..

I think the new cruises are coming in 2010 and 2011 not sure will have to look into that one. If it is 2011 and 2012 then it would make it easier to decide to go in 09 on the Tortolla one for sure...

Little Divi Bay Beach I found here on the boards and it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! No nudity so that was a HUGE Plus since some of them in ST. Marteen are naked. I did not want the kids seeing that... It was very family friendly....Nice low waves......

Michele,

You were right 11 and 12..SO I think I could do a cruise in 09 and then not again till 2011...Here is what I found......Kristin

Feb. 22, 2007 - The Walt Disney Company today announced the long-awaited expansion of the Disney Cruise Line. In a press release, company President and CEO Bob Iger announced that the company has signed a letter of intent with Meyer Werft Shipyards of Germany to build two, 122,000-ton ships, each with room for 4,000 guests (Disney's current ships are each 83,000-ton/2,400 guests). The first of the two, as yet unnamed ships will be delivered in 2011, and the second will arrive in 2012.
Few additional details are available at this time. The ships will each have 1,250 staterooms (up from 877 - a 40% increase), they'll be two decks taller, and Disney intends to follow the same design traditions as before - gold scrollwork at the bow, the existing Disney Cruise Line color scheme, and "classic" ship style. Artist's renderings of the new ships look remarkably similar to the existing ships, with the addition of two additional stateroom decks in the area between the lifeboat deck (deck 4) and the main recreation deck (deck 11) - lots more rooms with verandahs! There is no word yet on proposed itineraries.

Kristin, how funny! You and I were looking at the same post at the same time! I was going to post this link.... http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1366738 ...which basically says the same thing! ENJOY Tortola!

We have to take advantage and enjoy the snow while we have it! Like I said, Monday it's suppose to reach 60!! This will be gone!

The snow is letting up. It's a real fine snow now. My neighbor didn't get her minivan up the hill in front of the house. She just let it slide back down the hill. I am sure she is calling off work now, since she can't get out! BUT her tire tracks have messed up the snow...you can see the road...so not good for sledding!

has anyone planned out their itineraries yet for the cruise?

so far for St. Maarten we plan on either renting a car or a private tour operator to get us around. with stops to the zoo, butterfly farm, maybe shopping in Marigot then a quick stop to Maho beach so DH can watch the planes, than (thanks to Kristin's suggestion :thumbsup2) beach time at Divi.

That is too funny, that is exactly our plan!! We figured we would rent a jeep or something so we can go at our own pace, I do not want to be a slave to a tour. Butterfly farm for kidlets, shopping for me and my dh who only request is to see the planes over the beach. He has shoen me pics of the planes and it seems unbelievable to me!! We take the kids to see the planes take off and land at Pearson, so I know my ds will love to see the planes. DH works at the Airport so planes are his thing!!

:goodvibes

You must take some pictures of the snow....and of your sledding....Have Fun!!!!!!

We were thinking of going to Disneyland in '09, but I have a feeling that our addiction to DCL will be just as strong as it is for the parks. We are also watching the repo. cruise in August to see if it opens up, that would be awesome!!!

The beach that has the planes go over, are there nude bathers there?? I too want to avoid all that so I will have to learn more about Little Divi Beach.

No snow here today, its cold though and it is sooooo slippery and icey everywhere. It is way to early for all this snow, last year we didn't get snow until after the new year and I loved it!!! But the kids are so happy to go and play in the snow.

HAve a great hump day!!

Gina

oh I guess we will have to plan for a trip to Disney world in 2010 then 2012 go on a cruise again. I would love it if the new ships went to Alaska or Hawaii!!
Michelle you're lucky to have a snow day! I was hoping to get one too this week as they were saying we were going to get lots, but it melted just as fast as it was falling so no snow day for us. We have maybe 6 inches of snow right now and might get another 4 to 6 tomorrow. It takes alot more snow than that to get a snow day around here :sad2: I love snow days!!
