I found this on the thread about the personal posts... I think it is a great analogy and thought I would post it here along with my response:

That is the perfect analogy.
We have a rather chatty bunch and it is difficult for the regulars to keep up with sometimes. It was awkward for me to jump in a thread that had been running a while. Because of that, myself along with 4 or 5 others on our thread really try hard to make new posters welcome and invite them to join our list for e-mailings, and offer them a link to our website. That is the best we can do. I also like Mary's suggestion of putting ***CRUISE QUESTION*** in the post as an attention getter. Now that we are aware this is a problem, I for one will try even harder to make sure no "newbies" get lost in the shuffle.

Here is a post I put on our thread after this one got started:

I'm there with you Allen!!!! I will try to make sure nobody gets lost in the shuffle too!!!!!
I like thast suggestion too about ***CRUISE QUESTION*** in the post!!!!! That would get everyones attention for sure!!!!

How is the weather for you folks today, I know a lot of you were worried about storms today? No more of those for us today, just grey and windy.

The Wiifit came out of it's box today!!! I LOVE the hula hoop but I suck at the ski slaloms LOL! The balance ball game is fun, but the advanced is very challenging. We have been playing for almost 3 hours. Except ds who is much more obsessed with his computer. I haven't tried any strength or yoga yet, I'll stick to that when no one else is here LOL.

It did ask me if I find myself tripping when I walk LOL.

Anyone here have a toaster oven?

I third the cruise question suggestion. I'll definitely make use of it. And I know it can be hard for the nebies to the thread. Or even just ppl returning who've been away for awhile like I was. I actually lurked for a few days trying to get a feel for it again b4 I jumped back in. A new group isn't always easy. Or 1 you're returning to.

Yes, we are thrilled for Kasey Kahne in this house. I wouldn't have minded Tony winning, but Kasey's just too cute. Bud does need to come up with a better ad campaign to go with him though.
