Oct 6, 2014 - Wonder in the Bahamas

FE Exchange is ongoing if you need to be added to the list.
We have a Facebook page running as well, where you can give me/us your information for the FE if you are interested.

:wave2:
The Mr & I are coming aboard solo this trip.

Took our 3 y.o. GD for her first cruise on the Dream less than a month ago (with lots of marathon participants, interesting to see many again on this cruise. We only run around the buffet lol). I'm looking forward to sailing the Wonder again & serenity beach for two days in October this voyage:goodvibes

Need to go back and read thru the thread to catch up, back to yak soon.

Thank you! A meet would be great, you've been so helpful over the years on the DVC boards.:thumbsup2I usually participate in the FE, we had 3 of them last cruise since so many signed up but thought it odd that there wasn't any interest in an informal meet.:confused3 We always attend the DVC presentation 1st day and struggle not to be tempted.;)

Currently, booked @ WL pre cruise, then after cruise onto RPR at Universal for HHN with group of DIS friends.:goodvibes

We usually attend the first DVC presentation, too!
We are at BCV for 3 nights pre cruise. We could also plan to meet at TTOTW at BLT to see the fireworks Sunday night pre cruise.

We usually do the DC program too.

bobbi - Not sure what time we'll be flying into Orlando the Saturday before the cruise. We haven't had much selection thus far (either a 6 am or 1 pm this year for dates I've checked). The early flight tends to have us ready to head back to our resort before 7 pm.

I do plan on seeing what else is available @ the 7 month window, would love to try & switch into BC, BLT or GF but WL is my DH's favorite DVC resort, it's a hard sell to convince him to move even if other choices are available.

Since we had to shorten our time with friends onsite at Universal after booking the cruise, we have been talked into skipping MNSSHP on that Sunday night pre-cruise in order to drive up to attend another HHN. I've told them we can't stay as late as usual since I like to get on the ship as early as possible to start the fun. we will def be at the DVC presentation though & will see you and aarpin there!

I really hope there is some 'night-life' to speak of this cruise. Not huge partiers or anything but found it so odd there very few passengers in the lounges after the late shows:confused3during our sailing on the Dream in January. Even the family trivia on pirate night before the 2nd celebration was cancelled for lack of interest.

FE exchange is ongoing on the FB Page…

We have over 24 families now participating..

We've limited each group to 20 families …

Come on over and say hi - PM me for the address!
If you'd like to participate, give me a shout!

Hello Everybody!!! I am soooo excited to be joining you!!!

My name is Shannon and I will be joined by my husband Cal and our daughter Calee (5) and our son Joshua (will be 4 at the time of the cruise). This will be our second time on DCL but our 1st time on the Wonder. (We were on the Dream last May.)

We are planning on doing the parks both before and after our cruise and most likely going to MNSSHP. The cruise is the only part we have booked so far, so I'm not sure which resorts we will be staying at yet. My husband is leaning towards OKW and BCV.

I would definitely like to join the FE group and am pondering the idea of the Candy Exchange. Is there anything specific that we are supposed to bring? We are from Buffalo and the only candy we are really known for is sponge candy and I don't think chocolate will travel well! If someone can throw out a couple of suggestions on what to bring then I will definitely consider joining in with that as well!!

Well, I am off to the FB group to catch up on there as well!!!

This is the post where I explained what Candy was exchanged on the Fantasy.

As far as what is "local." There are no real rules, for instance, I recently did a search "candy invented in Ohio" and found that Life Savers were invented in Cleveland Ohio! I learned there is a store just over the Kentucky line from Cincinnati that has made their own sort of candy since the 1930's. I also read about those marshmallow "ice cream cones" were made by a Cincinnati company. Any of those would be possible. As far as chocolates go, Ohio Buckeyes are very popular, but because of possible melting, I doubt I would give those.
I hope you decide to join!

Great!:thumbsup2

put me down for the CE. Not sure I'm up to the FE twice in one year lol. Only candy I can think of locally is chocolate, may have to go 'generic'. Not sure if you can still ship a box directly to the port but have concerns that wouldn't necessarily sit in an AC room. Should I assume that the # of goodies will vary based up cabin occupants?

OT just stumbled across the controversy re WL updates (personally like the idea of the new bed in studio) & wondering after reading a couple of posts elsewhere whether the stated rehab date may stretch out as it did for other resorts. Any thoughts? Not sure if I should try to switch things out or not next week but hate to have 'the magic' disturbed by construction.

Hello All! Just back off the Fantasy with 2 kiddos. Have to say even my kiddos did not appreciate that many kids in one place!

So it is back to the classic ships. Time to try the Wonder! We've only been on the Magic so far. We are switching from a 5 day doubledip to this 4 day Doubledip which works better for our work schedule.

No kids this time just my Hubby and I celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary:)

Can't help it, we want to do the FE or at least the CE! Looking forward to it.

Will wait to hear about joining the Facebook group

See you all soon

I'm happy to add you to the CE! We have had people from the Hershey area and their gifts were snack sized pieces of types of candy not ordinarily found. Since our heart is really in NJ, we have given Salt Water Taffy from the Jersey shore. How much? Everyone is different. We've gotten 4 lollipops, specifically astro pops from somewhere in CA where they originated, we have given out 10-12 sticks of salt water taffy, and we've gotten small bags of candies from England that had maybe 15 pieces. No complaints from anyone!

As far as "local" I have done some research and found that Life Savers candy was invented in Cleveland Ohio. Now, Cleveland, is not local to me, (gosh, it's diagonally across the state!) but I've bought a supply to give as our gifts for our WBTA cruise. I've printed out the story of the origin of the candy (many have included something like this in their gifts).

I think the fun of finding the cabins and giving out treats, going back to your own room and finding something is fun. I like consumable things (:lmao:) and will keep each group around 8 people...maybe up to 12 depending on how many participants we have.

As far as VWL, have you seen this post?

It shows the "before" and after. I have been in the villas at a time when they were replacing the pull out sofas, I saw things happen but the project never detracted from our vacation. I am interested in your upcoming experience, but I truly hope it is a great one!pixiedust:

bobbi - thanks for the link! DH loved the old back-woods décor, other than the convoluted table:confused3the new look is fine by me. I'm happy the bedspreads are slowly becoming obsolete. The rehab likely won't be anywhere near what is experienced with construction issues. I feel for those dealing with Poly right now. It's hard to go wrong with any candy:thumbsup2.

Welcome kileybeth! I was so sure our first solo cruise would be horrible without at least one of our now-adult kids. We muddled thru nicely;)but I did miss them.

Hey All! We are booked for the cruise! This will be our first Disney cruise. Myself (30) DH (36) DD (3- will turn 4 on 10/11) and DS (2). My in laws will also be joining us. I have no ideas what all these abbreviations mean that y'all are spitting out so here's my questions.. Do you have to sign up for the CC 5k or is that something done once on island? I would love to do the CE and the FE. I understand the CE but could someone give me the low down on the FE. I've searched but haven't really gotten the answers I'm looking for. We are so very excited to cruise with you all and I can't wait to meet you!!
