We are still here... I've just had a slammed weekend. We at least had 1 day of nice weather, the kids even made it into shorts on Sunday! It was an odd day though as we started the day out with the heater on, then it got to 80 and so we turned on the A/C and then yesterday we woke up frozen so we turned the heat back on. :confused3 Supposedly we are on a steady warm up now. I'll believe it when I see it. :rotfl:

We are almost into the 100's!!! Only 7 more days to go. :goodvibes

Not much else going on here other than summer rec sports are starting this week for DD. She is starting softball tomorrow and I can't wait! I loved playing when I was little. She and her BFF are on the same team too, so she is excited about that. :thumbsup2

Christine, hope your weekend went well and you have a great visit with your family!

Supposed to rain Thursday - Sunday so I might be on here a lot this weekend. Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday though!:banana::banana:

Evening all:

I just had a mini report on the Dream:
One of the girls I work with & her family were on the 3 day..they just got back on Sunday.

She loved the ship...she said that Aqua Duck had very long lines...but she did go on it twice. She said around early dinner time...then there were no lines.

She loved Animators, she said it was her favorite of the three, she loved the food there....she said enchanted garden was ok...and she didnt really eat at royal she only had dessert there....(that was the night she went on aqua duck) She really loved cabanas...loved the food selections...they did not do Palo or Remy...
Icecream station has different flavors of ice cream...not just vanilla and chocolate....she said pirate night was great, fireworks were great...
they day they left port canaveral it was pouring rain, so the sail away was in the lobby and she didnt think to much of that.
She loved the new show believe......she said that the theathers fill up fast.
I think thats about it....If I think of something I forgot, or she gives me more info, I will keep you posted.

Nothing else is really going on
have a good evening all

Thanks for the info! We are only a month since we were on the Magic and we are all ready for another one. Does anyone think that the Bahamas would allow children to work? ;) I'm thinking a family gig on the ship so that we could be there all the time???

I made some progress on my paper yesterday. I hope to finish it this week so that I can get to my test. Ugh. Four weeks of school left and I will have time to do what I want without worrying!

I can't wait to get busy making clothes for the girls! I have to limit myself though. We were on a 7-nighter last month and I made about 8 outfits for the girls...and they should be able to wear them again in the fall. Maybe just one or two things for the fall. We will be at the parks for two days after!

Happy wedenesday everyone,

Denise, did your friends do a cruise meet ? I was wondering if they could recommend a good place to hold one. We have had 2 good suggestions so far.
Secret deck on the back of ship and the new Outlook area by the Quiet Cove.

Hi Morgan, sounds like your still in a whirlwind even after the feast is over with. I thought this was suppose to be your relaxing time ;)

Amy,
The list is more than just a FE list it's a list so everyone here can start getting aquainted with others and find kids the ages of their kids so they can find friends before the cruise. Plus meet information.
On past cruises we have always sent out one early for people to see, then after more people are added over the next few weeks we will send out a revised list for everyone. Usually by cruise time you will get 3 lists. You will always get the final list shortly before the cruise.

They are fun to look at and just another way to add alittle excitmeent abut the upcoming cruise.:goodvibes

Pouring rain here still. Down close to freezing tonight too.:cold:

I am so ready for summer to get here!

Is there a secret aft deck on the DREAM? I thought the back was all cabin verandas. Anyone got a good deck plan picture?

I dont know Jan, It had suggested it as a possible meeting place. On the older ships on decks 7 & * they had large decks. Guess I can try to find out.

Nope, looks like it is all cabins back there, with really long balconies, my friend is actually booked in one on the 7th floor.

We hesitantly booked Remy's on out Jan cruise, thinking we would try it once and maybe never again as it cost $75/pp and we did the wine tasting ($99/pp) on top if it. I will definitely be booking it again on this cruise tho, without the wine part (would rather eat there twice instead).

The food was FABULOUS and like all the other restaurants you can order as much as you like and we did (I for myself, ordered one of everything) and had an excellent 4 hour food tasting. They change the menu every 6 months and it will be 9 months since the last cruise, so, I am looking forward to the new menu. :cool1:

PS. We also like Palo's brunch better than the dinner (where else can you get a full bowl of caviar for $10) but would definitely take the dinner if no brunches are available.

May be I will check out the menu as we get closer to being able to book it. I have seen the menu so far and since I am a pretty picky eater, nothing really looks good. May be that will change with the next menu.

Any suggestions for the day at the Bahamas? Wife wants to go shopping, I rather stay in the ship, but....

One more thing, last time we did the Atlantis Aquarium, hmmm, ok, but not this time.

I'm kind of in the same boat. Never been to Nassau, but everything I read and see looks like it would be easy to pass on. I know we'll have to get off just so the kids can say they've been. We're thinking of checking out the straw market and shops close to the Dream and then possibly walking down to the Pirate Museum. Hopefully we'll be off a couple hours then back to the ship for lunch and an afternoon of exploring the Dream.

Anyone been to the Pirate Museum and how easy is it to get to? Little concerned with the area and how safe it actually is.

Thanks.

well, I can finally get to planning our DCL cruises.

I checked in (and posted) on this thread a while ago and then went away. In March, I did two back to back 7 night cruises on the Carnival Dream (with my 16 turning 17 year old god daughter). :cloud9:

I was home for a week when my grandmother (my Dad's mom) passed away. :sad1:

what made us all feel better during the days where we needed to travel an hour and a half up and back to the viewings and funeral was talking about our DCL cruises (I'm once again taking my mom and dad).

Nassau is a BIG ??? for us. My mom is in a wheelchair and there seems to be so little for her to do. It's the same at most of the ports though, one of the reasons I love DCL when I travel with my mom - Castaway Cay is the one port I know she can get off at and have a great time.

Doing the B2B, we have two stops at Nassau. I'm thinking of booking an excursion for my dad to go on by himself the first time we stop (and I'll stay on the ship with my mom) and then an excursion for me the second time we stop (and my dad will stay with my mom - though knowing them, they'll get off the ship and go to the straw market and buy tons of junk :rolleyes1).

I also wonder what the chances of being able to book a Cabana on Castaway Cay if we're not in a concierge cabin?

I feel like I know so little about the new ship - it's definitely time to start my research!

Oh - and has anyone read reviews on how Palo is on the new ship?

When we were on the Magic (our first cruise ever) we didn't get the chance but having the duplicate menus on the B2B, it's something I'd like to try. At $75 a head, Remy is something we'll pass on though.

It's really cold here in Toronto still and I'm beginning to think winter is never going to end :sad2:.

We have done the pirate museum 3 times with different grandkids. Its about A 7 TO 10 minute walk from the ship to get there. I wasnt worried about walking the area. We walked past banks and some official buildings, nothing run down looking and lots of people around..

It is located 2 blocks behind the straw market (which can be seen from the ship) It is a large purple building. You buy admission tickets in the gift shop then go back out and the Pirate outside will show you the entrance.

If you actually read the information in there it will take about an hour to do the museum. In case you have kids who dont like the dark I will tell you the first part is dark, its a night scene at a dock. But right away you can walk into a well lit area if you want. one bathroom part way through the musuem.
Be sure and bring your camera because at the end of the museum there is a court yard with stocks you can pose in for photos. Kids love to do that.
If you google Pirate museum Nassau Bahamas they have a good web site and sometimes have a discount coupon you can print off.
All our trips there the family had a good time.

Kathy
