Oct 30 and Nov 3, 2011 - B2B Dream- Viva La Nanahead

Morning everyone

We are doing the B2B because we want to be on the ship for a full week. I have done a 4 night cruise before and it's just not enough time. I am looking at the day in between as a port type day, get off the ship a little and then spend time at the pool. Most people don't do the pools the 1st day so it won't be too crowded.

We're doing B2B because the Dream is only doing 3/4 days cruises and separately they are too short. I prefer at least a 7 day cruise (love the 14 day ones). Doing a 3/4 day B2B does make it a 7 day cruise that also counts as 2 cruises towards the Castaway Club. The October cruises will be our 9th and 10th cruise making us Platinum for the Fantasy MV so, maybe we will be able to book Palo or Remy on that cruise.

As DVC members booking with points, there really isn't a difference in the points for a 3/4 day B2B vs a 7day when looking at the per day breakout. It is only like 1pt difference.

Besides, when flying from CA it makes more sense for a B2B as I don't have to pay for two extra plane tickets or travel days. If I lived within a day's driving time, I would probably do more shorter cruises but having to fly, I want to increase the ratio of sea days to fly days. :)

Looking at the point values for the Fantasy, they do not seem any more expensive than the Dream except that the Fantasy is only doing 7 day cruises. I would love to do a B2B on the Fantasy which would be a 14 day Carribean cruise with 1/2 western and 1/2 eastern. But the Fantasy is only doing Western Carribean cruises for the first three cruises and we are already booked on the MV. Oh well, maybe the following year if money holds.

Evening all:

This is my first time doing a B2B...I originally just booked the 4 day, but got to thinkin that it would go by way to fast so added an additional 3 days....just want to be on the ship longer:thumbsup2

thank goodness monday is over....what a horrible busy day at work today....my phone never stopped ringing....I feel like I get further behind daily:sad2:....hopefully it will more quiet tomorrow and I can try and catch up....

Other than that nothing much else is going on....just a day closer to the cruise.

Don't they usually give incentives if you book your next cruise on the ship? I was thinking of banking an extra thousand for this purpose and maybe booking a cruise for the following year!

Morning,

When we bookedon board we got 10% off the price of the cruise and some OBC. The amount depends on how long a cruise you book. The longer the crusie the more OBC you will get.:thumbsup2

I dont know if you have the Disney Chase card but if you do, check for special on that too. Often if you use it to book the cruise they wont charge interest for 6 months for how ever much you spent, plus you get points that add up that you can spend on board or at WDW or DL.
and many times that will add another $25 to $50 OBC if you use to to pay off your cruise too. Their specials change, so you'd have to look on line or call and ask. We save a bundle with that by using the points.

If you are a DVC member; you can't book another cruise while on the ship using points, but if you call DVC within three business days of disembarking they will give you a 10% discount on the points needed for a future cruise.

Yes, I am using my Disney credit card for the cruise! I am also setting up a checking account through Chase to earn even MORE disney reward dollars this weekend lol

I am so excited! My brother and his family are finally considering a cruise! Sis-in-law is incredibly motion sick, and has always been fearful of being trapped on a boat. They were at an all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta last week with her parents, and they saw the Disney Wonder while she was in port. Now they are thinking about trying a cruise. They live in Wisconsin, and are thinking a 3 or 4 day just to try. Of course we will be on the ship with them...they just might get to see the Dream as their first ship.

My brother is flying in this weekend to help me work on our parent's house this weekend. A pod will be delivered so he can load up for the trip north to WI, and we will rent a Uhaul to bring the rest to our house. We pretty much divided things at Christmas when we were together, but now is the time to move things out. Talking of a cruise while doing this will make it more fun. Hmmm, wondering if they would like to cruise at Halloween...

How do you do that? Is Chase giving you more for having an account with them?

Morning everyone,

Sounds like people are getting their plans all worked out for the cruise.

Glad your using the Chase card. It really helps take the sting out of the cost of a cruise.I've used ours for years. I use to at WDW too.

Its dumping rain and very windy here today. The coast is having 70 to 78 MPH wind gusts. My son lives there. The winds are slowed down coming over the mountain and so we are getting 25 MPH wind gusts which is enough for me.

Can't wait for summer to get here:goodvibes

Quiet day. Planned to scrapbook, but ended up just watching TV and the Apple IPad event. Yes, I will be in line (or DH will be) next Friday! WooHoo! We decided we each wanted one and would wait for the 2nd version to come out. We didn't exchange gifts for Christmas and my parents gave us money to go towards them too. Cannot wait! Just wish we could have pre-ordered, but Apple isn't doing that this time. Lines only next Friday. :(

Will go volunteer at my son's school in his class tomorrow morning. DH has been out of town the majority of this week so far, but will be home tomorrow night! :) Then he has hand/wrist/arm therapy on Friday afternoon - so it will be a short day for him. Can't wait for the weekend! I'm ready for a PJ day on Saturday! :)

Kimberly,
Have fun this morning. I miss those days. The kids grow up way too fast.

Denise,
I think you need to do the rubber chicken dance that Greg did last year so the snow will pass you by. It's time for spring to get here!! Maybe if you ask nice enough Greg will do it for you ;)

We have wind and rain here. Its in the upper 40's so the cold is not a problem. I am just tired of all the rain. I feel like i need a boat instead of my truck to get around .:goodvibes

Have a great day everyone,

Kathy

I cant believe how quiet this thread is lately??:confused3

People must be busy with work and school activities. Since my kids are grown I forget about all the sports and music events schools have.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. No real plans here for the weekend.
Just a bit of grocery shopping and a trip to the bank.

Kathy

Trying to figure out if it makes more sense to use my Disney Visa card for purchases to get reward points or my discover card to get larger percentage back. I'm thinking the discover card makes more sense because it's at 5% cash back I think. What do others do?

Thanks for the rationale on the B2B cruises. I understand the logic now :goodvibes

We do both actually. I use the cash back on all purchases where i will get double or more percent back. Anything that would be only 1% back I use the Chase card for and i watch for promotions for both that offer extra % for cash or points.
I use Chase points for OBC so it pays for excursions, souvenirs on board, and tips if I want. If we have an extra large amount of points i apply some them towards the cruise itself.

I really like the cash back best because i can use it anywhere for anything. Where the Chase points must be used on Disney things. We always have a trip to WDW when we cruise and i use them there for food and souvenirs too.

If i have to make payments to pay for the cruise I always use the Chase card because i can get special promotions of NO interest for 6 months while I pay it off.

It's been a slightly crazy week here!

Our elementary school had talent shows today (K-2, then 3-5) this morning and then one large one tonight for the more talented kids (K-5). The Chorale sang this morning, but the music teacher forgot to tell me until yesterday that they were. I'm their volunteer pianist. So, had to change plans around for yesterday and today to be there for rehearsal yesterday and then the shows today. The music teacher forgot to tell the kids too that they were singing. Some came dressed correctly and the majority didn't. It was a trip this morning. We're also on early release today - will be heading out shortly to pick up DS.

Evening all:
