I love it! How long are you staying after the cruise? I am new to the WDW stuff, so I need to get up on all this stuff!

I love that you are surprising her! When are you going to do the "reveal"? I think we are going to tell our kids that we are going to visit our friend (that we should be able to see post-cruise), if anything. They should figure it out after we get to our port hotel!

Amanda,
I have somehow talked my DH into flying down the Friday before the cruise and spending Saturday at IOA so we can do WWoHP. (The girls are deeply into HP right now.) We will be telling them when they get home from school that day that we are going to Universal for the weekend and will fly out about 3 hours later. Then on Sunday, when they think we are driving back to the airport, we will in fact be driving to the port to meet their Grandma, aunts and uncles, and their cousins whom they will not have seen in over two years (who are exactly their ages). After the cruise the whole gang is spending 3 days at WDW. Then my DH and his whole family flies out, but my DDs and I are staying an extra 3 nights so we can hit MVMCP on the first day (I hope, keep your fingers crossed).

Thye are missing a ridiculous amount of school, but DD8 will be in third grade and is literally at the top of her class by an enormous margin, so she can miss a couple of weeks without trauma. (No big projects or tests at that time, I've already checked.) DD5 will be in kindergarten and will be fine missing a couple weeks for this experience as well. It will probably be our last chance to do this for a while, so I wanted to go big.

I'm getting excited to make our ADRs in less than a month now. Yay!

Good morning everyone. It's been a whille. We've been on a couple more cruises (dcl of course) and a trip to disneyland since my last post. This thread has really grown. For us there is alot going on. This is my last big week of work. I do taxes. Yesterday was the 1st day I took off in 13 weeks. Next week we head back to our FL home in Davenport for a little vacation. We need some sun and wdw time. The kids will miss a few days of school but I don't care. We need some family time too. It has been an extremely loooong winter in NY. My oldest daughter gets married the end of May. We still have alot of last minute things to do for the wedding. Then it's back to normal...work, kids, running kids around.

I am looking forward to this cruise. The kids love doing the FE. We will make a few things for that.

I must get the kids ready for school and then it's off to work for me. It's going to be almost 80's here today.

Your FL home in Davenport??? I live in Davenport.

How exciting for your kids and whole family. We were just at IOA yesterday...we have annual passes. We love WWoHP! We took my BIL and nephew with us yesterday. They live just a few subdivisions over from us, and got their annual passes too. Sat we are heading back to Universal to see the Beach Boys in concert for Mardi Gras.

I'd love to get a countdown for my iphone but too cheap to pay the .99
I may give in to the tempation though.

I gave in to temptation and bought the $.99 iphone app. Sad I can only countdown one thing at a time. Right now it the date of my next half marathon which is at Disneyland. 146 days At least I have a Halloween countdown app that was free, so I look at that and subtract a day to know how many days until our Dream cruise...202 :-)

I'm glad they finally got that taken care of. We have been booked for 2012, and look forward to hearing about 2013! We LOVE the cruises!

I have an advantage, or disadvantage. DH works at WDW, so we generally won't book far out at all. We try to grab cruises at the last minute under space available discounts. This Halloween cruise is the only 1 in 13 that we have planned this far out. We booked onboard in Nov/Dec. We always look ahead to see what's coming, but generally wait to see if we can get a cast rate, or FL resident rate. With this one, we wanted to be on the Dream the first year, so we booked it. We are thinking of trying RC next as we can usually get some great FL res rates. Regardless, we love to cruise, and try for at least 1/year.

I'm kind of in the same boat. Never been to Nassau, but everything I read and see looks like it would be easy to pass on. I know we'll have to get off just so the kids can say they've been. We're thinking of checking out the straw market and shops close to the Dream and then possibly walking down to the Pirate Museum. Hopefully we'll be off a couple hours then back to the ship for lunch and an afternoon of exploring the Dream.

Anyone been to the Pirate Museum and how easy is it to get to? Little concerned with the area and how safe it actually is.

Thanks.

We have been to Nassau many, many times. I did the Caribbean Queen snorkel the first 2 trips to the island...great snorkel tour! DH and I did the Atlantis tour with the aquarium on our honeymoon, and it was a pretty cool tour. I have ben to the straw market...the old one, before it burned down a few years back. DH and I just walked around with DD in a stroller when she was 5 months old. Since then, we have gone on longer cruises, until last summer when we visited Nassau again. We didn't even get off the ship this past time. When we sail in Oct. I don't think we will get off the boat. After quite a few trips to the island, we are looking to enjoy the ship instead...especially since we are only on the 4 night. We may decide closer to booking to hold a spot for an excursion, but not sure yet.

Morning Everyone :goodvibes

I haven't got the list yet and was hoping someone can tell me how many staterooms we have right now for the fish exchange? Trying to plan what I will be giving everyone. :grouphug:

Rough count looks like 94 total people (30 stateroms?)...that included adults/kids. I just went through the list and did a rough/quick count. I haven't broken it out into adults/kids, ages yet. If you want, PM me your email and I can forward the list Kathy sent out to you.

How fun! I saw the tentative dates, starting the 8th. We won't be there for that, but we should be able to arrange something in 2012. We will be doing a Dec. Fantasy trip.

We are supposed to take a trip in a couple of years with my sister's family. I am so looking forward to it!

Morning all,
hoping today they will fix the problem with the internet service here and will zip out the list to those who didnt get it.

Dawn and Stephanie,

We are looking at houses for sale in Davenport and Lesburg area to buy a house this summer and move back to Florida next fall sometime. Our son would live in the house until we can come back next fall. So we might all be neighbors before this cruise:thumbsup2
Our last house was in Fruitland Park which is by Leesburg.

Busy day today,
I will check back later,

Kathy

I have changed ther e-mail and spelling on the list and my e-mail list.
I knew with so many people I woul make a few errors.
At least it will be correct now.:thumbsup2

Ok everyone,
hopefully the internet problem is gone, but I am not trusting it just yet.

So I did send out a list to everyone again today, so I wouldnt miss anybody. I know a few of you did get the first list, you can just delete it if you want as the 2nd list (sent today) does have a couple of corrections of names on it.

PLEASE tell me if you got your list today or not. I don't want to miss anyone.

Do any of you know Dennis & Tracy from this thread?

They didnt give me an e-mail adress or posting name to contact them with. I cant find the original note they sent me with their information so I have no way to send the list out to them.:confused3

If nobody knows them then I will need to go page by page until I find their posts and hope they signed their names on it. Usually peoples first or 2nd post they do give names. That will be a time consuming job, so i hope someone knows them.

Thanks,

Kathy

I love Davenport. It's far enough away from the touristy area's but close to everything. It's 15 minutes from my door to Cindy's door. Universal is a bit longer of a drive. And the prices of houses are unbelievable.

It's definitely the time to buy in this area! I can't believe the prices of the homes around us. You can get a nice 3 br for under $100k now. We have a large 4br, and ours has lost $65k since we bought it 3 years ago. Thankfully we had sold our old house at that same time, so we are not underwater on our mortgage like so many people in this area are. You can probably get the most house for your $$$ in Clermont or Davenport right now...lots of vacation homes that were forclosed, so great homes at bargain prices. Good luck with the search!
