WElcome to the newcomers. This is going to be a great cruise.

GREAT NEWS!!

I sent a question about numbers into Captain Marvins and Ruth just replied. She says "We actually have a larger boat that we can use for your entire group. We
only use it for more than 47 people if everyone is from the same group. So
far you're fine, as this boat takes 75 people comfortably!"

Awesome! I think we'll have the largest boat out on the water (other than the cruise ships of course, lol)

I count our numbers currently at 58, am I missing somebody?

This is awesome!! Can't wait to cruise with all of you and to share with you what I think is one of the best excusion I have ever been on.

Alright gang, since we have been discussing group activities lately it is time to get down to the dirty work and make some decisions about the group lanyards.

For those of you new to the thread, we have discussed purchasing customized lanyards that we can wear onboard to quickly and easily identify other members of our group. These can also serve other purposes including holding nametags, KTTW cards, and in some cases cash/change, pens, receipts, etc. depending on the design we choose. They will be custom screen printed with our cruise name and dates.

We have decided to purchase the lanyards on an each-pays-for-their-own basis. As the head honcho of the lanyard group, I have volunteered to keep track of participants, collect monies, make and receive the order, create name tags, and assemble and distribute at the port or to staterooms.

Pricing on custom items is somewhat tricky and most companies have pretty high minimum orders. Some have setup fees, per attachment fees and etc. I've tried to assemble a sampling of options to give everyone an idea of what we can get and approximate price.

As you can see the minimum orders are higher than our current number if participants- which is 68. Obviously the more we have and the more you order the lower the price (although in our case it is highly unlikely we will boost the quantity high enough to substantially lower these prices).

I've tried to make this as accurate as possible. If anyone has any affiliation with a company that makes custom or promotional products or can make a recommendation I will gladly accept and investigate all suggestions! :thumbsup2

Here is a sampling of what I have found:

As always if any of you have any questions, or would like to add your group to the list of participants, send me a pm or email me at nenner1 at yahoo dot com. I will also post this up on the FB group wall. You can hit me up there too if you have any questions!

When I get some feedback on which type of designs/prices/options the majority would like, then we'll narrow the playing field down and eventually vote on a single design. :goodvibes

So speak up! Tell me what you think!

:) Jen

I like the first option best but with the Disney font.

In fact they all look good and if the Majority votes for a different option you can still count us in. Lois

Lanyards - my vote would be for option 4.

I've got tons of "regular" lanyards with various characters, sayings, colours, etc.

I like the waterproof-ness whether you're wearing it around the ship or off in port, I think it's a good idea.

I also like that it'll hold more than just a single card because it's a pouch.

Thanks ladies, I'll mark down your opinions! :thumbsup2

Lois, I asked Erik and the ones we had last time are from Kenny Products, so if we do go that route we know what we are going to get. I am confident we'd get a good product through Lanyard Lab as well!

If anyone has any opinions on colors I'd love to hear that too!

I'm wishy washy. I like the traditional lanyard (option 2) with the disney font -- having it be black with Disney Font orange lettering would look great with our the Halloween Magic theme. I also like option 4 the waterproof idea. I'll be happy with whatever gets decided!!! Thank you so much for doing this....:goodvibes

Hey Jen!
you happen to know if Option 4 would be able to attach to the lanyward
that Castaway Club members will get?

:surfweb:

Nope, it doesn't appear that it would. The cord is just threaded through the flap. You can get a better look at it by clicking here and looking at the closeups.

You're welcome! :goodvibes

Wishing all of you dads out there a wonderful father's day! Enjoy!!

Just got back from seeing Toy Story 3. What a great way to spend Father's Day! :goodvibes The movie was great, really enjoyed the story, can't wait to see it on the Magic's Ariel View screen (still think DCL should have called it the "Dumbotron"). ;)

It's a hot day in Central Jersey, time to put on the swimsuits, and jump in the pool.

Happy Father's Day!

Good news: We are now PAID IN FULL!!! WHEW, thats a relief!

Bad News turned good news: We are booked for a B2B on the Dream for Sept 2011. Up to this point I had myself, DH and the boys booked into a CAT 10, and Just myself booked into the SAME 10 for the 2nd half of our B2B. I noticed at DCL online that all CAT 10's for both our sailings are now sold out. I thought, surely this doesn't mean I can't add the rest of my family to my stateroom which I was going to do NEXT month. Contacted my TA, and NOPE, Can't add them to my already booked CAT 10, BUT I can upgrade to a 9 and get everyone in. So the good news is we are now all booked, the not so great news is we have different staterooms now for that B2B, ugghhh. I guess it won't be SO bad, having to pack up or stuff between the two cruises, but I had been looking forward to NOT having to do that. OH Well.

That seems so strange that you can't add them into your stateroom. After all, the room is already yours, they are obviously still accepting people on the ship, so why can't those people be put in your room? Doesn't this mean you have given up your Cat. 10 and now someone else can book it? Bizarre. I will never understand how this stuff works.....

Great news about paying off the cruise. I have the money (tax refund from 2009!), but I figured I wanted to hold onto the money as long as possible. I intend to pay it next month to make sure it is all done well in advance of our August 1st date for booking our excursions and things.

It may be that the Cat 10 will only sleep 3 and she needs it to sleep four. Not all the lower cat will sleep four many of them do not have the pull down bunk.

I know it definately wasn't to do with the number of people that room would sleep. We were All booked in the same stateroom for the first half of the cruise. I'm thinking it has to do with the fact that the life boats for that particular station? are at maximum? I could upgrade the first half of our cruise to a CAT 9 as well, but that will cost me an additional $100.00. But I'm weighing that thought around for conveinence sake. However, I really wanted an inside room so we could experience the Virtual Porthole.
Yes, we had to give up my CAT 10 stateroom for the 3 night portion and we are all now in a 9.
I'd be very ticked to find that someone else with kids is able to book that stateroom, because then this whole thing wouldn't make any sense to me.
I might check to see exactly what stateroom is directly across the hall from our new 9 (probably a CAT 11), and maybe downgrade our first half to make the transition easier? That way, we'd have the same Stateroom host at least. I don't know...... but as long as we are on the ship, I'll be happy! :)

DMIL and DFIL got in on Nachi Cocom with us! So now there will be 4 in our party. That place must be almost full now!

Hi Everyone -
I have not been on the boards in a few days and it great to see our Capt Marvin and Nachi Beach excursions list growing. It should be so fun to be around so many Disers!!!!!! I would love to share costs of the DVD with a few families.... As per the lanyards, is there a list somewhere of who is getting them? I don't remember if I signed us up but we would like 2. They all look great so I would go with the majority....As per colors, I think orange would be good for Halloween and stand out.

So for those of you concerned about the oil reaching Key West it would appear the residents are willing to do whatever it takes. On a serious note, I was watching the CBS Evening News tonight, they did a story on the oil spill and the people of Key West. I thought everyone might find this interesting. Check out the video

Nice video! Great to see a community come together like that, and it does give me a more postive hope for our Cruise.

Oh no. I'm very interested in this. I booked our family on a 12/11 Dream cruise in a CAT 5 and also booked my mom solo across the hall in a CAT 11 virtual porthole, anticipating that she might want to later add two of her other grandchildren to her booking later (my brother's kids). I'm wondering if if we'll be stuck in the same situation later on if they decide they want to go and stay with Grandma in the CAT 11. Yikes.

I had always thought that it was when the kids clubs reach their max. that people would then not be able to book kids, but in my case, it was the life boat station for that particular stateroom, was now at IT'S max.

Last night I sent an email off to my TA (after looking at staterooms online), and have decided to give up our Virtual Porthole window (gee, really wanted to see that), and get into a CAT 9B on the first half of our b2b and keep us in the same stateroom for both cruises. Now that cost me around $200.00 to upgrade both rooms for our CAT 10. But then I noticed the room my mom and her BF are in is a 9A and totally at the front of the ship on Deck 7. Our Cat. 9B in on Deck 2 and is very MiD Ship. So I also asked my TA to Downgrade my moms room to a 9B and put her in a stateroom near ours, which I think will make us all very happy. And the lower cost in that, actually almost balances out my increase in cost. I feel good about this decision, I only hope my TA doesn't mind making these changes. (I had made a lot when I first booked a CAT 11 then changed it to a 10, then had 2nd thoughts about that, but settled on the 10.).
Waiting to hear back from her this morning, before I can rest assured it's done.

That is a real shame!! We are booking a B2B for 2012 - but part of the charm of it is to keep the same room (in my book anyway - and that is mainly because I am too lazy to repack!) :laundy:
