WOW! Awesome! That puts us at what, 64 people total now?
mmouse, how many children if any are in your group of 13?

I am astounded by the positive response.. enough so to do a little jig in my study as I write this! Okay everyone, looks like there might be only 36 spots left for Disney Magic(al) moments at Nachi Cocom. Anyone else interested? If so, please join us as we fill up this beach with our fellow cruisers in beautiful Cozumel. :cool2:pirate::cool2:pirate::cool2:pirate::cool2:

There will 9 adults and 4 kids....10, 6, 5, 1.

I am talking with the other families to see if they want to join the treasure hunt...they don't post on the boards but I am feeding them info!!!

Nope. My Thursday entails kissing the husband and twins good-bye and taking a train from DC up to Philly. I'll be joining up with some close friends to listen to the likes of Carole King and James Taylor sing their hearts out in their Troubadour redux concert. Can't wait to hear some of my old favorites. That said, I'd love to kick back and listen to the Eagles sing Hotel California too.:rolleyes1

I have seen the "trolley" mentioned a couple of times..if it is in reference to the Conch Train Trolley Tours, we have done this and I can provide some insight. But to be sure we are all talking about the same thing:

KeyWest_ConchTrain.jpg

Now I know there may be another trolley tour and this is why I am asking, since maybe the other one operates differently.

However if it is in reference to the Conch Train, I just want to mention how this tour works. We went on it in 2006 and really enjoyed it. But it isn't a multiple stop get off wherever you want thing. It is a pretty structured sightseeing tour, and while it did make one stop where we could have "stayed behind" and caught a later train, this stop was only a few blocks from the end and in an area on Duval Street that we had already been at.

Here is the description from the website

The tour begins at the Front Street Depot and ends right behind it in Mallory Square. Once you have your ticket, climb on board and take your seat, as you are about to embark on a terrific 90-minute journey through time. During the tour, the train will make one loop through Old Town Key West. There are two stops, once at Station Depot, allowing for a 10 minute rest break where you will find refreshments and shopping. Bring your ice cream and home made fudge back on board to continue your tour. The second stop is at Flagler Station, for just a few minutes. The second stop is also where those who wish to can disembark to see the sights and choose to catch a later train.

Our opinions on the experience are that it is very pricey for what it is ($29/adult, $14/child), but that said we really, really enjoyed it and would do it again (and plan to!). For a 90 minute experience it moved quickly (sometimes too quickly as you fly by some points of interest with the vehicle not stopping) but never got boring(at least not to me). Don't plan on using this tour as an opportunity to stop and get photos at the Southernmost Point- ours drove by, but did not stop (and it is not listed as a stop in the route map) Most of the entire 90 minute experience is spent in the trolley. Our second stop (the one where we could have chosen to stay off and catch a later train) was at a rather large gift shop. We did enjoy buying chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick there (along with everyone else on the tour), but the stop was only about 20 mins long (not very long when all 50+ ppl ont he train are in line @ the cash register buying their pie). On our tour I don't believe anyone selected to stay behind and catch another train, and if you do this there has to be availability on later trains, plus it is only a one-way thing (you can only catch it where you left off and only experience the part of the tour you had not yet, so it isn't a get-off, get back on, get off again kind of thing). The trains depart every 30 minutes.

Lots of info @ the website including route map and pricing- there is a disount available if you purchase online in advance but it is only a couple of dollars. There are also bundle packages that include various museums and points of interest..see bundles here

They do offer group charters (LOL!) not sure if that costs extra. I'm sure we could set a time and all show up and take that train to have a DIS CONCH TRAIN TOUR;)

If anyone has specific questions, fire away. I do have pics somewhere but they are mostly of the "sights" you get to see.

Anyway hope that info helps!! :)
Old Town Trolley is the one that goes all around Key West and lets you get on and off at different stops as you wish. Here is their site: http://www.trolleytours.com/key-west/ . :thumbsup2

By reading that cruise critic thread about Nachi, I'm getting the idea that the 100 is referring to adults maybe.:confused3 I've noticed that a couple of people had complained because their kids were not given loungers and the staff replied that there were only about 100 of them and when the placed was fully booked kids may not get one. I'm alright with that as I'm pretty sure my kids won't spend too much time sitting or lounging around.;)

Good point! The three and unders are free so maybe Island Marketing won't count them in the total. I am, on our end, keeping a running total just to see where we are with the numbers. If you go to the posts toward the end of the cruise critic site, post 707 and 717 (photos of the pool, beach, and loungers!) discuss the NC response to people who complained that not everyone got lounge chairs. Sounds like the Nachi management's intention is that adults and kids over a certain age are guaranteed to get a lounge chair with the younger ones only getting them on a space available basis. Somewhere on there I read the figure of 109 instead of 100 too. Also sounds like Nachi plans on rectifying the situation by getting some smaller lounge chairs in the future to accommodate younger children who might want such a thing. Also, interesting to note that on the availability sheet that NC sent me there is wording that reads: "All Island Marketing clients are guaranteed beach lounge chairs!" So maybe they've already rectified the situation based on those complaints.

Personally, my two 6-year olds never sit down at the beach in lounge chairs. They'd rather be playing in the sand or throwing a towel on the ground so our family doesn't need four loungers, only two. Anyone unduly concerned about the issue can read the last few pages of the cruise critic reviews (a link on the first page of our Board gets you there) to find out more back and forth information about the lounge chairs. There also was a flare-up about blue cushions that some people wanted to have. Those aren't available anymore so that issue appears to be moot.

We must remember to take towels from the ship for Nachi. But if I recall, the ships towels aren't very big? I think we just might pack our huge Disney ones for that excursion. :)

Correct.....while you can take as many DCL towels as you like for the excursion (from the pool area)* they are small and I for one, like a full sized beach towel so I will take the one I purchase (I always purchase a towel onboard) and bring that to NC.

*DCL usually only puts out towels by the gangway when we are at Castaway Cay....for any other port and non DCL excursions you grab towels from the pool areas.

Question of the Day:
Whats the absolute earliest we can go to terminal at? And what time do YOU plan on going at?

I may have DH drop myself, the kids and our luggage off, go back and park at CIS and bring the shuttle back. Whats the earliest he can drop us off at?
Yes, I'm anxious to get into the terminal and hopefully we can be some of the first in line. :)

Not sure. Somewhere I might have read that you can slip the luggage to the porters behind some fence before it actually opens up? We are planning on getting there early too, less because of wanting to upgrade and more because my husband is fascinated by different modes of transportation. The port will be really interesting to him. And if you get there early, don't you get to be among the first of the groups to actually board when they start allowing that, so that we can start enjoying the pool and other amenities? I also read somewhere that once you check in you can start making reservations to stuff like the Tea Party with a character like Alice (definitely something my girls would love to do). And maybe there might be an opening for Palo too, as I'm not really expecting anything to be left when we get to start making our reservations on August 16th. So we'll join you as early birds at PC, we hope!

Beth

It is usually around 10 or 10:30 AM, but you can always call to be sure - http://www.portcanaveral.com/cruising/travelagents.php

BTW...just a little food for thought. The last time we stayed the night before the cruise near the port we stayed at the Radisson Resort at the Port. We rented an Avis car from the airport, drove around a little bit, and shopped at the Greatland Target for basic necessities that we didn't want to pack.

The morning of the cruise I got up in time to drop the car off at the rental center at 8:00 am when they first opened and walked back to the Radisson.
We had a nice buffet breakfast and then the whole family took the 10:00 am Radisson shuttle over to the port. No dropping off, running back, and getting separated from my family, much nicer.

My choice of rental car agency and resort had many benefits.

1. Avis didn't charge extra to pick up the car at one location (airport) and drop off at another (cocoa beach).

2. Dropping off the car first thing in the morning when they first opened meant I didn't have to wait in line.

3. The resort and rental car agency are only a couple blocks away from each other so I didn't have to depend on the rental car shuttle service.

Yes, I spend a lot of time on logistics. ;)

Oh...and to answer your question. Sorry if this comes across the wrong way, but we are concierge guests so we board when we get there (not first come, first serve) meaning there is no rush to get there early. We are taking the 11:30 am DCL bus from BLT so we probably won't get to port until 1:00.

Thats good info to know as I'll likely need that (rental care and hotel) Sept 2011 when we Sail on the Dream. We are driving down this time, and have a room at CIS through Priceline. But in 2011, we'll be flying down and will need a rental car if we don't stay at the airport Hyatt. I'll have to check AVIS out, it sounds better than the other agency's I've looked at so far.
I know Concierge guests basically get boarding pass number 1 if before ship boarding time. I'm hoping for a number 2, just because it would be nice :) But will be happy no matter what, as really there is very little time between them calling 2's to board and then 3's and 4's.

Not too sure about leaving our vehicle at CIS, but it would be cheaper than parking at the port, BUT it's not secure like the port is.
Before we know it, October will be here! I can't believe it's almost mid June!

On our last cruise, I think we arrived to the port around 1:00 and they had already started boarding. We weren't given a boarding number and we just walked on. The cruise seemed pretty full, so I don't know if we were just lucky or what. We had access to our stateroom right away, which was nice.

We are coming on the DCL bus from Disney World again this time, so I am guessing we are likely to get there around the same time, and this is o.k. with us. The kids didn't really want to go swimming right away....they like to wander around a little first before jumping into anything.

I wish I could afford to add my mother to this cruise. My grandmother passed away on Tuesday. My mom had been caring for her and there was no way she could go away with us for 9 days. Now, she has no reason to stay at home. I looked into upgrading to a Cat. 4 and it was nearly double the price of what we are paying for a Cat 6 for all 4 of us. A cat. 11 is possibility, but still money I don't have since I didn't budget this year for a fifth person. :sad1:

I am so sorry to hear your news. You never know what is around the corner, there may be some way to bring your mom along

Question of the Day:

I plan to be there at 10:00 am! I love that whole day! I love being there early and watching the kids when come in when they first see everything! And I love to hear them all start to squeal (some adults too) when the first character walks out for picture taking!!
:yay:

The characters come out to the waiting area for pictures? Oh my, I know two little girls who will definitely start to squeal!!!!!
