Hi all! I know I haven't been on the pages for quite some time. Unfortunately I am here to say that I am bailing out of this cruise. I am truly sad because this was going to be our 20th wedding anniversary (we were married on Halloween) and we were planning on a big celebration.
I have been unemployed since April of last year. Due to health problems with my parents and myself, I have been unable to find a suitable job. I am still looking though; I have NOT given up all hope. There is still a slight chance that I may be able to Get back on board, but time will tell.
Until then, I hope you all have a safe and happy cruise!

I am so sorry to hear this. I thought I recognized the dis name and I believe we were on the Wonder with you December 14, 2008. I know the economy is horrible right now. I wish you all the best and hope that things work out for you:hug:

Linda

Thanks! My fingers are crossed that things work out, but if not, there's always next year! By the way, those T-shirt designs look awesome. I'm gonna hate missing out on those! Who ever did those did a fabulous job!:goodvibes

I'm making up my Calendar for the year, marking and taking note of all events to come before we cruise, which will actually make the time go faster. First off is my cousins wedding in just 2 1/2 more weeks! She was the flower girl in my own wedding (big age gap, she's more like my neice), and now I'm going to her wedding!!! I have a part time job I work at every 2nd weekend and on call if I'm available (nursing, in a retirement home). Well last week, I reminded my Supervisor about the wedding weekend. (it's 7 hours out of town). She told me she can't give me that weekend off, she's too short staffed!:mad:. Well we use agency staffing when we are short staffed, so why couldn't she just say she'll do that? I've talked it over with DH, and have decided, I'M GOING TO THE WEDDING, LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY! :) It's just a "keeping my foot in the door" type job anyway, not one I NEED for the income.
Then I"ve got to decide about Family camp this summer. Last summer was the first time we haven't gone in 5 years (because we took a two week vacation in the fall). Doing the same this year, so I have to decide if it's wise to take an extra full week of vacation this summer. But it would make the time go faster.... Oh, decision's decision's!

On another note, I showed my 6yr old son the Video from the Captain Marvins website, and he loved the idea of visiting the Rays! (he still has no clue though we are going this fall! )

My cousin (well, actually my cousin's daughter, so what's that? A cousin once removed?) just got engaged and she was OUR flower girl- 24 (nearly) years ago...time is FLYING by!! :scared1: Can't imagine not going to her wedding- good for YOU!! :thumbsup2 Hope you all have a wonderful time!:bride: :dance3:

If you want to join our group for Captain Marvins, then in the comment section on the reservation page at their web site, Just request your reservation to be linked to "Judy Baggott". Let me know if you do this and how many you are reserving for as we are keeping track of numbers that are part of this Dis Excursion. Wouldn't it be a hoot if we end up have TWO boats just for our group? lol

We will do Captain Marvins also, this will be our third time with them.
I was planning on the morning 1/2 day trip, correct?
We may need someone to stay on the boat with our 4 year old son if he does not learn to swim this summer.

This will be our first Western Cruise and I am looking for some feedback on gthe best Dolphin experience.

If this is your first time posting on this board, WELCOME ABOARD!. Our first Western too, so I can't help you with your question. I've had experience with the Dolphins at Blue Lagoon in Nassau, but thats it'.:)

I would be interested in hearing opinions also. Chankanaab or Dolphinaris?

IIRC at one point if you told both Chankanaab and Dolpinaris you were on the Magic that they would not allow you to book independently. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

:thumbsup2

I'm hoping to talk my Dad into going on the Captain Marvin's tour and I'll remain on the ship with my mom (she's in a wheelchair so that kind of thing is a no-go).

I'd feel better about my dad being with a group of people from the ship than going "by himself". He however is not convinced - at least he said he'll "think about it". Do you think there would be a problem if I booked it for him through the website - his name but my credit card?

Of course, this means that at another port, I'll need to find something to do while my Dad stays with my mom......Anyone interested in doing an "all-inclusive" beach day in Cozumel?

I know a few of us families are doing Paradise Beach in Cozumel! Is that what you were thinking of? :)

we are paid in full!! :woohoo:
thank you uncle sam for holding our money for us!!!
:cool1:

We swam with the dolphins in Chankanaab (Cozumel) on our 2008 Western. Here's a link to the page I start talking about it in my TR-

There are several posts about it in the TR. The first one is #222, halfway down the page.
We did the Royal Swim and really loved it- at the time it could not be done through DCL, I booked it for us. That may have changed now, though. Hope this helps!! :goodvibes

I was thinking of some place more like Nachi-Cocom. It's $49 per adult ($29 for kids age 12-17 and $12 for kids age 4-11) and includes unlimited drinks (alcohol for the adults) and a 3 course meal. In addition to the beach it has a pool and a jacuzzi (though no cool beach toys). It's limited to 100 guests per day.

Awesome! We did the same thing- paid in full last week when we got our return! :woohoo:

Yep I remember reading it. :thumbsup2 I def. want to do a Royal swim (someday) we just can't decide if it will be worth it to do it yet since we have Sarah with us. Decisions, decisions!! :cool2:

We're tossing this around too...:goodvibes Heard good things about it from past cruisers.

I don't have any first hand experience either - but it does seem to get consistently good reviews. It also appeals to me because of the whole "pay one price" thing. I *hate* when you go somewhere and it seems like all you do is put out money all day in dribs and drabs and in the end it feels like you got ripped off. At least this way I figure $50 for a beach chair, some shade, lunch and even a couple of drinks is an okay deal. Not having to deal with large crowds though - makes it priceless :rotfl2:

I've been checking out the excursions for Cozumel and I am leaning towards Chankanaab. Unfortunetly my kids aren't thrilled with exploring the ruins (which I think are fascinating!), and I don't want to spend hours traveling to and from an excursion either. Has anyone been to Chankanaab and not do the dolphin swim? It sounds like there is something for everyone there.

I haven't been there, but I can assure you won't spend "hours" getting there - when I was in Cozumel in November, there were a lot of people training for the iron man competition - The Bike portion of the race is 112 miles so the competitors had to ride around the island 3 times

The "ruins" tour takes about 20 minutes- we did it before we had our swim. I suppose it could have been longer if we did not have to go- all the kids in our group were fine with it, it was interesting and not really long enough for them to get bored. The taxi ride from the post was I guess around 1/2 an hour or less, so not far at all. There's a pool and snorkeling if you don't do Dolphins. Good luck with your decision! We still can't decide what we're doing at any of the ports. :confused3
