. Does anyone know how many people can go on Capt Marvin's boat (is there more than one?)

There is more than one boat. At least two, we saw the Capt. Jimmy and the High Rider when we were there. I'm not sure if we got an actual per boat load amount from Capt. Marvin's...did you, Judy?

Our boat we were on last time (High Rider) had appx. 30 ppl onboard. So yep, still some availability on "our" (i.e. the Dis) boat! :)

We are just starting to think about what shore excursions we want to do and I am trying to convince DH that it would be fun to do Capt Marvin's so I will let you know when/if we book it. There would be 4 of us and I am going to work with my DD (6) and DS (5) on snorkeling in their grandparents pool over the summer so they can participate fully with any snorkeling we do on the cruise.... Does anyone know how many people can go on Capt Marvin's boat (is there more than one?)

I think we can fit a total of 40 on their biggest boat. They have several boats too, but all who are linked with my reservation will end up on the same boat.
DS6 starts swimming lessons at the end of this month and I'm going to try and get him to lean how to snorkle in our small backyard pool over the summer. If he's not swimming by the time of our trip, which could be the case, I'm not worried. We'll bring his floaties and I know Captain Marvins has life vests. I just have to get him over his fear of deeper water where he can't touch the bottom with his head out of the water. :)

I just emailed Captain Marvins to ask what maximum we are capped at to all be on the same boat. I'll let you know for sure once I hear back, but somehow, I recall the number 40 as told to me when I first booked.

I just sent off my email for Nachi. We'd love to help with a treasure hunt. I'll even sign DH up for helping to distract the kids. The idea of a :beach: with only 100 people sounds great. I'll let you know when I get my confirmation.

Add my family to the list of those going to Nachi!

I sent a request today, they confirmed availability and I just sent them my credit card info for the deposit - $34 dollars total, $12 per adult and $5 per kid. Hopefully, I will get the email in a day or so confirming my reservation.

Wouldn't it be great if we were able to "rent" out the entire place for just us?!

Treasure hunt sounds awesome. I can pick up stuff or contribute money towards the shovels, pails, etc. Sounds like a lot of fun.

Does the ship have a library? I couldn't find this info and have heard cruise ships do.

I really have no idea what excursions we will do. I'm not sure what would be good with kids our ages-7, 5 and 2. What are others doing with kids in this age range?

There is no libary. On deck 9 is the Cove Cafe which I believe has newspapers and magazines. There is large screen TV which is normally on a news channel to stay up on current events and a couple of computer terminals to surf the web.

Nachi Cocom would be great with those age groups. Not sure about anywhere else. Captain Marvins I dont' think would work with a 2year old, but other than that, I've never been to any of these places either.

yeah, I was just looking at Nachi Cocum after reading about it a few posts back. The 2 year is the hard part as I'm sure there would be more to do with the older kids.

Wow, we are well on our way! This is going to be great! :thumbsup2

Agreed. We are planning on leaving our DD2 in Flounder's, although all ages are permitted.

Speaking of the lil' bugger....boy she LOVES the water. She runs around the house saying "Beach"..."Pool" (repeat ad infinitum). We are working pretty diligently on the potty training thing but she is totally not getting it yet. I really, really hope she can get the hang of it in the next few months cause she will be quite upset if she can't go in the pool.

We did officially book Nachi today, like many of you! :) Who knew today would be such a big cruise planning day for all of us!

Hmm sounds like a party at Nachi? that being said, I ll talk to the wife tmrw? I'm sure she'll want to look at it and the price would seem reasonable for me, her and that little one who will be turning 7. Plus, I need some place fairly shallow, because DW can't swim either.

I have submitted our deposit for Nachi, just have fingers crossed we get our confirmation soon! There are 8 of us, 5 adults, and kids aged 11, 4 and 3.

The treasure hunt sounds a fantastic idea, the kids in our party would love that. I am happy to contribute whatever is needed, we can bring smaller items such as necklaces etc from the UK, but anything larger will be a struggle for us!

There are four of us (me, DH, FIL and DD11) doing the snorkel trip at 11am (at least that is time I have requested). That leaves MIL and SIL, plus the 3 and 4 yr old at that time, so we can do the hunt at whatever time during the day is easiest for everyone else.

Sooooo excited!

Wow! Looks like Nachi should be renamed the Magic Beach. Here's where we are so far, I think. Correct me if I'm wrong or left someone out:

Tinkerbelltwins (4)
Nenner (5)
eyes4mickey (4)
tjbaggott (4)
Kristiuk (8)
Pudo (4)
threeiscrazy (5) and if relatives go it might be (6) more? (correct me here)!
jkswonder (4)
fastpaks (maybe) (3)

My count is 38 definite and 9 more thinking about it for a total of 47! Anyone else want to join us at Nachi? :cool2:

Beth

Here's my Captain Marvin's List so far. If you are going but aren't on my list, let me know. I've put the family numbers beside each name.

Tjbaggott 4
eyesformickey 4
nenner1 4
Isjones 4
Grandma4ever 2
threeisCrazy 3
threeisCrazy's sister's family 3
GrammaCharming 2

So sitting at a total of 26 people thus far.

My then 7yr old probably will just stay on the boat while we do the snorkeling but will definately love stingray City!

Hi Judy, This looks like so much fun. So YES! I just sent off my reservation form so count us in -- there will be four of us. Like your son, the twins will probably stay on the boat with me during the snorkeling time in deep water. I bought them snorkel gear at Costco so we'll practice this summer!

Beth

Joanie and I (Sam) are also considering this excursion (Nachi), especially if we have a group - we usually only do cruise line excursions, but this one sounds very inviting. Is it worth bringing our snorkeling equipment? Anything to see, except the sandy bottom?

I know there are snorkeling trips at Nachi for an added expense. My husband might sign up to do one of those while I stay on the beach with the kids.
