Been catching up on this thread just now, and thought we were all set to spend the day at Uvas Beach, but now I'm concerned about the number of ships in, and the place being crazy with people - I am trying to find out if there also limited numbers here, but doesn't seem like. I am loving the thought of only 100 people at Nachi, think I will drop them a line and check availability. It sounds wonderful!

If we get in and they will provide a van, maybe we could catch a ride together? There are 8 of us.

Nachi doesn't provide rides, I did read that on their website, but it did say we can make our own arrangements for a van for a larger group. Thats what I'm hoping to do. As was just mentioned in a PM to me, a larger group going together on the transportation provides us with more safety assurances for non DCL excrusions! Maybe they'll have a BUS we can hire LOL, as I think there is now going to be a huge group of us going to Nachi! :)

Oh ok, I misunderstood about the van, no problem. I will let you know if they still have space for us (and I also need to check with everyone travelling with us that they want to do the trip too!)

I have been to Cozumel many times and never had a problem with the taxi's. When you get off the ship, you will walk down the pier and there will a line of taxi's there - they pretty much have set rates depending on where you are going. They like you to take the first taxi in the line - but if you needed a van you could just let the first taxi know that :)

So if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly --- as of right now, the people either going to Nachi, or seriously considering the possibility of going are:
tinkerbelltwins (4), nenner1 (5), eyes4mickey (4), tjbaggott (4), and kristieuk (maybe 8). So If I've got the math right :teacher:

we are at 25 either definites or possibles which means we are a quarter of the way to booking the place completely. Anybody else want to join us for some fun in the Cozumel sun? I love this board. Can't wait to meet all of you in the fall!

Beth

We really liked the idea of Paradise Beach for the kids, but wasn't aware that six ships will be docking that day. Not sure if 15k people is more than normal.

Either way, the idea of 100 people on a private beach seems very interesting although there doesnt' appear to be as much for a 6 year old to do on Nachi as there is on Paradise.

The idea of having a large group of DISers on Nachi does sound like fun. Have to discuss this further...

But Tinkerbell twins has little ones, I have one who will be 7yrs old by then and not sure off the top of my head but I do believe there are a few other little ones. I think the kids will have fun with other similar aged kids around, and I'm pretty sure there will be Beach balls in the FE'S (hint hint) lol. My son just loves the water, and he will have his own snorkel gear, and maybe we'll get some sand toys to drag along. :)

Funny you should mention about what to do with a 6-year-old at Nachi as I've got two of them (though they'll be turning 7 around Thanksgiving). I was thinking about magical moments on our cruise and thought that it might be fun to have them hunt for buried treasure on the beach. I'm sure some pirate left a treasure chest or two at Nachi for youngsters in 2010 to unearth. Maybe some of us could come up with a pirate map type thing with some fun clues and/or activities that the children do together on the beach before they move on to the next clue which ultimately results in all of them perhaps digging under one of our lounge chairs and coming up with the ultimate "treasure." Especially if a good number of DISpeople are there on our private beach, it could be a real hoot to watch the kids (while we are sipping away on our drinks!) work/play together toward a common goal: discovering the elusive buried treasure box (and small as it has to fit in a day pack). Nothing too extensive as we are all on vacation! An activity like this would keep my kids occupied for a long time! And it would be a great way for the children to interact with each other.

Sounds pretty cool! I'd be willing to supply the treasure and the cute Disney Tin to hide it in. Treasure like what, candy, lollipops........ if somone else wants to work on a treasure map! I can also bring pails and shovels for each child, our Dollar store has a good supply right now, and since we are driving down, I have room to pack this extra. How would you plan to distract kids while the loot is burried? :)

Missy doesn't like crowds so the idea of 100 people on a private beach really works for her too. Thanks for your suggestions, I agree that we will be able to make it a great day for the little ones so I filled out the form and hopefully will get back that they have room for 4 more!.

BTW...I didn't see how much the deposit is? How much did they ask for? We have 2 adults, 17 and 6.

I can't remember exactly but it was minimal. Something like $38.00 total for DH and myself and much less for each of the kids.

We paid $34 -- $12 per adult and $5 per child. Not sure if the 17 year old is considered as an adult or child...can't remember! The deposit break-down by age is given when you fill out the financial form, I think.

That sounds right, I knew it was $30.00 something for total for both adults, $12 I think for my 13 year old and $5 for the 7 year old. :)

Sounds good. I got an email to fill out the reservation form. Looks like I should receive an email in 24 - 48 hours letting me know if there is space and that my reservation is confirmed.

Keep you posted...

I regret to admit Janet and I will be doing something different than most in Cozumel.

Our plans today (which are still subject to change) are:

Key West to walk down Duval street, maybe make it to the southern most point and eat Key Lime Pie.

Grand Caymen Capt Marvins How large is this group today?

Cozumel Cozumel hightlights & Maya Ruins

Castaway Spend the day at Serenity Bay snorkeling, swimming, eating and just enjoying the day!!!

One day closer and still counting!! Lois

Maybe we could get the husbands to take them to the pool to distract them for a few minutes while we figure out what lounge chair under what palapa would work best. I'm happy to work on the treasure map -- though the final map with X marking the spot will have to be given out during the very last clue since we won't know where it goes until we hide it! I can also add some mardi gras beads and fake gold coins to your tin if that appeals!

Missy is a big fan of this kind of stuff. A couple weeks back we were turning over the garden dirt with shovels in preparation to plant vegetable plants. She got an old brown plastic index card box and put in a few trinkets and "pirate booty" While she kept Sarah busy I dug a hole and buried the box. It was great to see her eyes light up when she found Da Booty!!

I would be happy to help distract the children while the ladies Bury Da Booty! :thumbsup2

For those curious about normal port loads- here are the charts from cruisett showing the port loads in the days and weeks surrounding our visit. As you can see our days in Cayman and Cozumel are among the heaviest of all.

Here's my Captain Marvin's List so far. If you are going but aren't on my list, let me know. I've put the family numbers beside each name.

Tjbaggott 4
eyesformickey 4
nenner1 4
Isjones 4
Grandma4ever 2
threeisCrazy 3
threeisCrazy's sister's family 3
GrammaCharming 2

So sitting at a total of 26 people thus far.

My then 7yr old probably will just stay on the boat while we do the snorkeling but will definately love stingray City!

We are just starting to think about what shore excursions we want to do and I am trying to convince DH that it would be fun to do Capt Marvin's so I will let you know when/if we book it. There would be 4 of us and I am going to work with my DD (6) and DS (5) on snorkeling in their grandparents pool over the summer so they can participate fully with any snorkeling we do on the cruise.... Does anyone know how many people can go on Capt Marvin's boat (is there more than one?)
