Can't believe I'm doing this, but because of worry that the Dream prices will rise by the time we on board the Magic this fall, I'm making our booking today. Just waiting for my TA to call me back. She's talking with DCL right now to secure the same two staterooms for our B2B cruise. For now I'm just booking one person in each stateroom (I don't have the deposit right now for 5 people). We are surprising my mom with this cruise, but will only have her join us for the 4 night leg. Problem is the 4 night is the 2nd part of the B2B, not the first. So I guess we'll have my mother fly down, but come back home with us? Or maybe we'll all fly, in the end. I figure for her first cruise ever, the 4 night would be best, instead of doing the whole back to back with us.............. Wow, never thought I'd be booking this now, when we haven't even sailed the current one booked!
Now back to fighting this rotten cold that set in on Saturday (and on our long weekend), and wait for TA to call me back.:)

We always book the day the rates are released since historically DCL rarely if ever reduces their rates as you get closer to the sail date so don't think you're crazy. In the last month I have received several newsletters from my TA stating how much the 2011 rates have increased based on demand, but we booked the Royal Suite last November so we're good.

In particular, the Aug 16, 2011 (last 5 day of the year) sailing which we are on has been very popular. Apparently there are no staterooms below verandah level available. We have been trying to get some friends of ours to book, but they can't seem to commit that far in advance. If they do finally book it will just cost them a whole lot more which is silly.

Which sailing did you choose?

We're doing the Sept 8th and Sept 11th Back to Back. As I hope to find someone to travel with my mom for the 4 leg part of the cruise, I'm going to wait and book her room in a few months. For now, I have my stateroom for myself DH and the kids booked, the same stateroom for both cruises, which was most important.
I think thats what everyone will get as their Christmas gift this year, NEWS of the CRUISE!

Will all of your family get to join you?

How did it go with turning in your resignation letter? Were they surprised?

Again, just taking our youngest two children for our Cruises. The older two are welcome to come but they don't know their plans. Should be in college or working full time (thats all up to them). DH now says that if we drive down for that cruise, that will be 3 trips to FL on our Van and he's not sure he wants to do that. SO we just might be flying. Perhaps drive to my Aunts in Pennsgrove and fly out from there, park at her house........

As far as resigning. I went in that day with plans to write a handwritten letter of resignation and slip it under my supervisors office door. When I pulled into the parking lot, there was my supervisor getting out of her car, which then told me she was the Weekend Manager on Duty for that weekend. There goes my hand written letter, I figured I'll just tell her myself at the END of the day.
Well, about an hour later, she comes into the nursing office and lets me know I'm due for my UCP training and names a bunch of dates and asks which one I could make it to. Well, I hesitated BIG TIME, because since I'm leaving, I'm Not going to go to any UCP training. After what seemed like close to a minute (but probably not really that long), I said "Honestly?,,,, Ummmm" She then looked at me and said "You're leaving". It wasn't a question, it was a statement and she was waiting for me to confirm it. So I told her yes, and she turned to look at the schedule and made a comment about needing to book time for others as well for their UCP training. She heard me but then ignored me on that subject. So later that afternoon, when we had a moment alone, I said to her "So, about me leaving, I was thinking the end of April or the end of May". She said end of May would be better as that gives her time to train someone new. She DID ask me is I'd like to stay on on an ON CALL Basis. BUT, I know how short staffed they ALWAYS are, and I'd get called in as much if not more than I already work. So I said no. That was it, that was all. Really, what could she say to me? I KNOW she's saying a lot behind my back, but I don't care, I'm done there and THRILLED About it!
Today DS12 will have two perfectly good teeth removed in less than an hour, then next week two more on the other side, then a week or two after that, his braces put in. ($6000.00 later, :scared1: we could book a cruise and a half for that!)

but you must feel relieved that it is over, right? and you were already planning to stay until the end of May, right?

Watch, you won't know what to do with yourself when you have 2 days off, in a row EVERY week!!

LOL, I'm already planning on hosting dinners once a month at least and figuring out who I will invite first and when the next one will happen. And now that the nice weather is truly here, planning picknics with the kids and other family members, and over the summer, CAMPING from a Friday to a Sunday. But MOST importantly, sleeping in for a Change, and getting back to Church on Sundays and spending time with my kids. Come the fall, I might be at a loss as to what to do, but then sometimes doing Nothing feels good too! And planning TWO Cruises now as well, well make that 3 as one is a B2B.

But a relief, for sure!

Hi Kirsty,

Let me say welcome. We transferred to this cruise a little over a month ago. I think you'll find our fellow cruisers a friendly bunch:grouphug:

We are from CA also...about 8 hours north of Disneyland. But that doesn't stop us from being Season Passholders:lmao:

We have a daughter who is 9 years old, she'll be 10 in December. I'm still trying to get her authorized to post. I believe the kids board for this cruise is on the first page of this thread, along with a ton of other info. Her Dis name is Princess*Laura. Maybe they can chat on the kids board sometime.

Linda

Now that all the spring holidays are over, summer is right around the corner. So for all the disney nutters that are going on this fun filled voyage..... Vikki and I wanted to know if you wanted to try getting together before the cruise? Maybe somewhere in central NJ?:thumbsup2

How about Hershey for the pre-cruise get-together? It's only a short drive away. Just kidding of course - keep us informed of any plans.

Don't forget about Captain Marvin's! If anyone new is interested in Joining our group for this Excursion in Grand Cayman, check out the info to it on page one. It's a highly recommended exursion at a more than affordable cost!:)

Oh Man!! Look at that counter!! We are just days away from being in the 100's!!

Welcome Kirsty and family! :flower3:

I just went poking around on the DCL website (cause that's what I do on my lunch hour!) and noticed that there now seems to be lots of availability for our cruise. It's showing Cat.11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4 and 3 ($8,000 plus for one person!) as all being available.

A month ago, it would say that there was no availability if you tried to book a child in the stateroom and now it seems to be no problem.

I'm guessing lots of people might have cancelled? Or shifted their cruise to another date?

Just throwing it out there, because I thought someone on here was looking to add their MIL to their reservation, but there was no availability (Judy, was that you?)

I've never seen them quote the price for a category 3....is this a new thing by DCL?:)

I would love to take her on this one yes, but I can't do a singel room for her, Nor can we add her to our room. I was hoping to find another woman travelling on her own that would like to not have to pay the single cruise fare premium by adding a roomate. No worries, though, we are taking her on the Dream with us in 2011 if I can't fit her into this cruise. :) Just made my first DREAM Graphic yesterday
