Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

Janice,

I was hoping for a Phillies/Yankees series to watch on the ship, but they let us down!!!!

I was hoping for the same thing! Oh well, now do not have the conflict of dinner or games!

We did mess up and make our Palo reservation during a Thursday night football game with our beloved Virginia Tech Hokies, but we are celebrating our 17th wedding aniv. that night, so we will have to miss the game!

Janice, the bank, LoL, I went to the bank the other evening to get my travellers chq's. I had called ahead to make arrangements as last year they didn't have enough for me, and I had to go to a few different banks. Well, I was running late but did get there a little more than 1/2 an hour BEFORE they were to close, to find a note on the door saying they were now closed due to a ROBBERY!! Kinda of glad I WAS running late!

This bank isn't by any chance called "the bank", is it? We have a bank by this name in our town and it was robbed last week also! I drove past it and the parking lot and every entrance too it was blocked with cops cars and all the cops were holding very large guns!! :surfweb:

Trying anything to avoid the packing, I guess it can't wait any longer<<sigh>>.

I've got to finish packing too! Scored big at sale at Express yesterday-bought sparkly shirts for nighttime, which reduced packing needs to six shirts and two pairs of nice jeans for dinner. And several pairs of shoes. Toiletries are done too.

Now I just have to pack daytime attire.

Ok sounds good! I will have my eyes open for you! Will you be on the Roy Bench? LOL! :rotfl2:

I'm going to try for 4 p.m., just depends on how long my site surveys take:confused3! PM me your cell so I can find you in the park in case I run late! I'm going to go back to my hotel afterward and do my makeup to glam up my outfit.

And my outfit will be jeans and a sparkly shirt with Minnie witch ears. The origional outfit didn't work the way I thought it would when I actually tried it on!

Starting today, Rapunzel and Flynn, from the new movie "Tangled," will appear at Fairytale Garden in the Magic Kingdom in Orlando.

On Tuesday, Disney celebrating “Hometown Heroes” at Magic Kingdom Park in honor of Air Force Week in Central Florida. And the day will include quite a sight – the United States Air Force Thunderbird jets flying over Magic Kingdom Park. The flyover will be Tuesday, October 26 at about 3:15 p.m. Also, United States Air Force dignitaries will be honored during the day at the park’s “Celebrate a Dream Come True” parade.

Going to start trying on and laying out clothes today...luckily we have the spare bedroom upstairs since DD is in Rome so we can use that as packing central. Just 2 more work days left (Monday and Wed) with Tues and Thurs as my appointment days...hair, nails, bank, etc. We are leaving about 4 am on Friday morning to head to the airport. A week from now we all will be in Key West!!!

Safe travels to all that are leaving this week.:thumbsup2

It's just after 6 am and we are about to have breakfast and then hit the road!! YIPPEE!!

I found some more magnets I had made but didn't get laminated, so I'll look for a place in Orlando to do that.

Towels, even for other excursions, you can take DCL towels with you. I'm bringing two of our own, for the kids though, and will buy two DCL ones on borad from the gift shop as they are thicker than the ones you can borrow.
Anyway, gotta go. See you all on board, and few of you before. OH, 3:45 GRILLS, right?

Yes, 3:45 at Grills. We hope to see you there. Have safe travels and I hope all goes well with the surprise :goodvibes I bet they will be so excited:cool1:

Happy Anniversary!! My Aunt lives in Kissimmee too. She works at the Poly. My BIL went to VT. We are fans as well!

Small world! I work at Fl Hospital Celebration ( and DO NOT want to meet any of you early while working!) and DH works at Soarin' in Epcot. My Brother went to VT and we were both raised as VT fans by my fanatical parents. They live for Hokie sports! LOL. I was raised in Lynchburg, VA so it makes more sense than VT fans in central FL. DH became a big VT fan when we married and he realized it would make his life much easier. (I became a Cowboys and Yankee fan in exchange! LOL)

So excited for our trip! Cannot wait to meet everyone (BUT NOT EARLY, STAY AWAY FROM Fl Hosp Celebration! lol)

Really coundn't sleep last night. I was awake at 2:45 and had to wait for the alarm to go off at 4:30. Spending the night outside Savannah.

Wow, almost here! Safe travels today! :thumbsup2

Quick question - do we need to bring towels at all? Or can we make do with the ones on the ship?
No, you won't need them.:goodvibes The towels onboard are smallish and not the softest/most absorbent but we find using them better than taking up the space to bring beach towels. Ther ewill be towels in your room, and also as many towels as you need in bins up by the pools, like Judy said you can take them on excursions with you. :thumbsup2

Safe travels today Judy! :) Have fun!!!

I found some more magnets I had made but didn't get laminated, so I'll look for a place in Orlando to do that.

I haven't started printing mine yet, heck I haven't finished designing them all yet. I have a couple I have started that I need to finish and then print. I probably won't laminate them at this point so hopefully they will hold up well and look OK.

OH, 3:45 GRILLS, right?
Yes, we'll see you then! :goodvibes

Sounds good, I PM'ed you my number! :thumbsup2

LOL, definitely not. And hopefully I don't end up meeting you again during one of Savannah's many competitions @ WDW. :rotfl:

Made a decent amount of progress packing yesterday, we are probably at 70-75% done. 3 suitcases, the garment bag is done and hanging (had a hard time zipping, I have a feeling it isn't going to fold over). One duffel for the first two nights and one duffel of candy. Got some of the non-chocolate hard type candies in with our checked luggage, so the weight of the carry-on candy has decreased some, probably around 35-40 pounds now. ;) Two more suitcases and the ToT box and toiletries and we'll be done.

Haircuts today for us girls, Savannah has a performance this afternoon and I work tomorrow night and Tuesday night and that's it!!

Well, packing has commenced! Looks like we will end up with 3 suitcases and a garment bag. I'm pretty sure we COULD get it into 2 suitcases and a garment bag, but this is easier and leaves us with some extra room if we buy anything.

It always surprises me how much more we bring for a cruise than for any other type of trip. We did 10 days at WDW in June with 2 suitcases (easily!) but we need twice as much for a 7 day cruise! :lmao: It's mostly due to the formal wear and costumes - and I think we end up packing a little more in order to change for dinner which is less common on a WDW trip. I also end up packing more "stuff" since it is a lot harder to run out to the store to pick up something when you're in the middle of the ocean.

We don't leave until Friday, but our weeknights are so busy that we really need to have most of it packed up this weekend and just do last minute stuff on Thursday night....

Reports back from the 10/16 cruise sound like some serious issues have not been addressed in dry dock, like the sewage smell in bathrooms and hallways that has been around at least since the WBTA, maybe before.

I started a thread in hopes to get more information on how bad it is and where exactly but it does sound like this is a big problem. One cruiser's opinion was that Disney appears to be treating it as individual stateroom problem when it appears to be systemwide.

I wasn't going to pack a scented oil plug in thing but now I am thinking I should!!!

Give poop deck a whole new meaning. LOL! (<--not letting some methane bring this party down, oh no!):rotfl2:

We made it to New Jersey!!!! I have a big favour to ask of someone! Does anyone's child have a light sabre they would be willing to lend my son for Halloween? I forgot to pack the lightsabre. I had ordered the costume on line and had it sent here to my Aunts. I realized about the light sabre when DS7 tried on the costume! He's a Jedi! He won't take the costume off! :)

DH just had the same idea as I was reading him the reports about the sewage smell. This is my parents first cruise ever in their life and we have been bragging about how wonderfully well kept the DCL ships are maintained.

Any reports from Deck 2 rooms out there?

OH, 3:45 GRILLS, right?

Absolutely! See you there.

We are checked in at BCV, and will be headed to Food and Wine for some music and fun. Will probably get a sample there and then a late dinner at the resort following Illuminations.

Happy trails to all.

Love the HOKIES!!

Congrats getting to NJ! (I guess). ;) I've lived here all my life, I consider it a penance for doing something bad in another life (kidding). :lmao:

Lightsabre: We are leaving Thursday morning, pretty much packed so just waiting for 3 days of work/school to pass. If no one else has one I can try to pick one up for you.

We have stayed on deck 2 aft on the Magic several times and never had an issue of sewage odors. 2106, 2118, 2618 (also 2118 on the Wonder)
My parents were in 2108, 2116 and 2616 too with no issues, unless it's a new problem in those cabins.

Maybe it depends on cabin location. :confused3

Oh, crap! (Sorry, couldn't resist). :lmao:

DH says our lightsabers are in the POD (we were trying to sell our house a few years ago and decluttered - stuff is still in there).

I have two for him to choose from. I'll let him pick tomorrow.
