Days left!

I have a question for ya'll..

We aren't huge character seekers-we take the photo ops that we stumble across but we haven't searched out specific characters or situations in the past...

So I'm curious..If I recall correctly there is a special phone number onboard to call to find out about character ops. Do they tell you what outfit the characters will be in? Can you find out in advance (like for the whole cruise) or is it just for that day?

I'm especially interested in Minnie in her red polka dot dress. I was thinking about it and don't recall seeing her in it on the cruise. Usually I've seen her dressed up or in her sailor blues. LOL. So have you all seen Minnie in her dots before onboard?

Speaking of characters and phone calls I'm not sure everyone knows about this or has tried it, but did you know the characters will call your phone prior to your cruise to welcome you aboard? Log into the DCL site under your reservation and scroll down on your planning dashboard to find the graphic that says "Have our characters call your characters" :)

I finished about 2/3 of our FE gifts last night and may make our T shirts today if all goes well this afternoon. LOL. Still have a little ToT work to do including putting together the volunteer packets (no I have not forgotten you all) Slowly but surely it's coming together..... :)

Nenner, I recall last year on a wall in the atrium, over near GS, a flat screen on the wall. On it was video info as to the Character OPS, and it would say things like Pirate Mickey, Pirate Minnie. I know you can assume they will be in their sailor costumes on Embarkation day, Beach wear on CC day, Pirate wear on Pirate night, and although I'm Certain I have seen her on board in her dots, I dont' recall if it was a specific day.

On another note, I lugged my kids suitcase (I already packed this a while back) up the stairs to my bedroom. I have a few more things to pack into it. Well, my neck, lower back and shoulders now hurt. That thing weighs a TON!! How is this possible when it's just clothes for two kids for two weeks? Ugghhh. Going to start getting DH's stuff into our suitcase now. So we have one suitcase for every two people, plus a suitcase for one pile of FE stuff, and the TOT candy I've brought. One carry on type suitcase for all our pirate gear. I need one more to put the Halloween costumes, Nachi treasure hunt stuff, shoes and garment bag into. Then I have the box with the rest of the FE stuff. Think I can get all that into the van without using a rooftop carrier?
What are your average gas prices there currently? I realize you all use gallons and we use Litres. When I calculate the litres to gallons, we are paying here $4.09 per gallon. What does that compare to your prices? I'm appalled at our gas prices, truly I am, and am hoping your gas prices are much better as that would be some $$$ relief for me.

I signed us up for this a few weeks ago. The kids should receive a call from Mickey around 7:30 p.m. the night before we leave for Orlando! :thumbsup2

I'm concerned about shipping our FE gifts to the Port. I don't know if I can fit this stuff in a regular-sized box. I'm going to try it tomorrow. If I can't make it work, I might just be bringing an extra duffle bag with us on the plane!

Judy, here on Long Island gas prices are about $2.80 - $2.95 per gallon for regular.

Whew! Thanks Judy!! I gave into temptation and bought the adorable polka dot outfits from Gymboree that (I think it was) Beth posted awhile back for the girls. Even adorable mouse ear hairbows for Sarah from Etsy. ;) So that's one photo I have to make happen. :rotfl:

We are just a tad lower in these parts $2.65-$2.85/gallon. :thumbsup2

Me too! I have a pretty good sized box but theres no way everything will fit in it without sqooshing everything which is the whole reason I want to ship it in the first place. We do have 2 rooms so each of us could send a package but I'd rather find a way to fit it all in one.

Good job you are not driving over here - we are paying the equivalent of over $9 per gallon right now :scared1:

Great to see the Magic back in PC. Just two more weeks, and there we will all be :cloud9:

Thanks and WOW, what a difference. I know there is a slight difference between a US gallon and a Canadian Imperial Gallon, but even with that, We'll be saving money by filling up with gas in the US. So when we leave here, we won't fill the tank but get just a little more than is needed to get to State side, then fill up there. :thumbsup2

Can I ask, what size box are you using? The DCL FAQ sticky thread says a 12 inch sided box and that's what I used last year. But I can't find where that is an actual rule anywhere. The sticky thread almost seems to suggest that it was just a request by the guy that runs the warehouse at the port. And Jeff (Pudo) called DCL and they said they were not aware of a box size restriction, just restrictions on the content.

So, I am now officially confused. I would love to use a larger box, but I'm worried if I do, it won't get there.

Two weeks from now we will be Port Canaveral!!! Can't wait....only 5 workdays left for me!!!

USPS has those flat rate boxes. They are about 12 inches square.

Me too! Done working for today - 5 days next week and then I am out of there for two full weeks!

I am so excited I'm finding it difficult to get things done. Plus I'm trying to get as much done for while I'm away so that I don't come back to a big mess. Of course I realized on the way home that I forgot to send out the schedule for next week for the assist line. Oh well, I guess I'll need to go in early on Monday morning and do a little scrambling.

It feels like it's been so long since I went away (yet it was only last December). I think I've had a case of the "grumpies" since about May :rotfl:

The character photo-ops are listed in the Personal Navigator, the flat screen Judy mentioned, and the phone number you recalled. They are daily updates, but I don't think any actually describe what they will be wearing. Clearly the themed nights will be easy to figure out so hopefully Polka Dot Minnie will show up on another day.

The one I have some of the stuff in now is probaby 18x18 square. It isn't big enough. I'd like to use the one I got from Lynn which is oh about 30x30 square:rotfl:

There have been a couple of shipping boxes threads the last few weeks on the main boards and the whole discussion came up a few times about the 12x12 not being official. Some said you can send any size. I'm still on the fence if I'm going to try. I think I will try to start packing first and see..of course I can't imagine why we couldn't just check the box with the rest of our luggage-we aren't flying so as long as we have room in the van I guess that is an option. :rotfl:

Ha ha! I have had the grumpies since I got back after a week of at the 4th of July!! :rotfl2:Of course those "vacations" for kids events like competitions where you have to be up costumed, made up at the venue and ready to perform at 7 AM aren't much of a vacation.

Oh good, I've never paid much attention to the Naviagtor's for character purposes since we always just took what we could get. I was thinking the same thing about which days they will be in what outfits. I am thinking Tuesday might be a good guess for regular outfits!

I made our T-shirts, they loook pretty good. I did not do the "concert dates" on the back since I didn't think they printed up big enough to look right. I guess something like that just has to be screen printed...:confused3

Wow! I just had to peak in to see what ya'll have done since I left. You've got some serious stuff going on here! :goodvibes

I hate that I had to cancel:sad1: This would have been an awesome trip! But, as you can see by my new ticker, we've got a trip to WDW planned for Christmas!:woohoo: My next cruise won't be until 2012 and on a new ship:thumbsup2, but I can patiently wait.:rolleyes1 OK, no I can't, but I'll try! It will at least give me that much time to save up!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy voyage :goodvibes Looking forward to reading some trip reports and looking at some awesome pictures!popcorn::

Was looking through my file of trip reservations and noticed we had an extra reservation at the MRI in Port Canaveral. We are stayting at CIS this time so I must have made it before I got the CIS on Priceline.

Anyway, for anyone who was looking for a room at the MRI for Friday, the 29th, I just cancelled a room.

Pictures of Cool Stuff

I think I'm going to take a stab at some tmrw or Sunday. I just hope I can get them on the first try...

I put everything separate for quality. If I put it all on one page it gets smaller. Hope it's how you wanted it. :)

You think black would work better than white on the shirts? The one below I'm doing for signatures from Jordak on a pillow case

In addition, it was nice to cross off some more of our "stuff" we needed to get before the trip. One thing that was a bonus was a gas station that we get fuel from called QT. We have a budgeted amount that we have for each fuel up. I took the left overs and put it on a prepaid card. Where this is going to come in handy is in GA when we are driving through, we have another easy $20 that can be used for gas or whatever we want. It's not much, but it means more money in other fun spots for sure.

I have never been to F&W and we are going to be at Epcot on Monday the 25ish. I have no idea what to expect.... so anyone look at the menu? I know the Ireland Lobster and scalop fisherman's pie sounds OMG yum!!

So I know about the "shows" but is there other entertainment? I heard about the Newlywedish show but is there Karaoke or something nutty like that?

8 Days and counting!! Yesterday I finished Packing up DH's and my clothes into a suitcase. Then I took out everybody's bathing suits to put in a carry on type case along with a few days change of clothes. I think that might be better than having to lug the huge suitcase around from hotel to hotel to ship? Do you think two pairs of casual long pants is enough for the DH for the cruise? The boys suitcase is packed, the formal stuff is in the garment bag, but I still need to get DS13 a white or other color dress shirt and tie. I'll do that today. The dogs both have their places to stay organized, then DH says, "Who's looking after the Fish"? DS7 has one little Beta Fish, that is a STRANGE FISH. This is the only one we've had that actually lets DH pet it, I mean ONLY DH, the only that lets itself be pet at all, and then ONLY by DH???? What is with that? Now DH says, lets take him with us! RIGGGHHHHT! I think another of my friends would be happy to take him.
What else to do?? My list is getting smaller, but I know I'm missing something. I'll figure it out later, for I'm OFF to the SPA right now. A Morning of BLISS (This was a gift from one of my daycare parents!)

For a 7 nt, we usually bring 2 pr of casual pants for dinner, neutral shades or black that he can wear with different shirts. That is plenty when you consider 2 formal nights, pirate night, and 1st night is a little more casual b/c not everyone has their luggage by dinner. I try to wear something to the port that would be ok for dinner too like capris instead of jeans. Makes it easier later.

Did you stop your mail or have a neighbor to collect it for you?

That is a very generous gift! Your day care parents must really like you. :goodvibes

Thats great about the pants, he'll be fine, with those then and an assortment of shirts. Yes I have a neighbour collecting the mail for me, but that reminds me to call the flyer service and put a stop on the weekly flyer delivery (it's always mostly junk anyway).

My neighbour and I were chatting about house insurance ect. while away. We don't have and don't want anyone to come into our house while we are away. We are setting the security system and leaving. The neighbour says, that if while we are gone, a pipe burst or our water heater broke and there was a small flood in the house, with damages, that unless we have someone coming into the house daily or every couple of days, the insurance companies won't cover for the damages. Hmmmm. Or does having a security system Against break and enter, smoke, heat and fire, counteract that issue? How do your insurance companies work? I guess a phone call to mine with a hypothetical situation, is in order for Monday. :)
