Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

Thats great about the pants, he'll be fine, with those then and an assortment of shirts. Yes I have a neighbour collecting the mail for me, but that reminds me to call the flyer service and put a stop on the weekly flyer delivery (it's always mostly junk anyway).

My neighbour and I were chatting about house insurance ect. while away. We don't have and don't want anyone to come into our house while we are away. We are setting the security system and leaving. The neighbour says, that if while we are gone, a pipe burst or our water heater broke and there was a small flood in the house, with damages, that unless we have someone coming into the house daily or every couple of days, the insurance companies won't cover for the damages. Hmmmm. Or does having a security system Against break and enter, smoke, heat and fire, counteract that issue? How do your insurance companies work? I guess a phone call to mine with a hypothetical situation, is in order for Monday. :)

Wow, I've never heard of that but we have a cat so we need to have someone come in daily. My next door neighbor also does so we just agree to cat-sit for each other.
I would def call your ins company. You need peace of mind before leaving home.

Got my black iron on vinyl and did our Mickey-o-lantern shirts for Halloween! I also did a peace love and Mickey one for Morgan. It's really cute, if I do say so myself :lmao:

Oh, forgot to ask...Does anyone know the "emergency" number in case someone at home needs to get in touch with us while on the ship? I need to leave it with my family.

It is in the cruise docs but here it is again....1-888-DC-AT-SEA (322- 8732). The cruise docs actually have a page you can leave at home with people so they can get in touch with you on the ship....has the phone number, stateroom number.

Thanks! I haven't gotten my cruise docs yet...My TA said she was waiting for something else. Hopefully very very soon!

Did anyone read this before? I found it posted on disney-related site:

Halloween Cruises

Disney Cruise Line will treat guests sailing in late October to a spook-tacular good time as the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder transform into a ghoulish wonderland filled with hair-raising events and activities. Guests of all ages will delight with special decorations, unique menu items in the restaurants and themed dance parties on deck.

The Halloween happenings take place on the Disney Magic cruise departing October 23 and 30 and on the Disney Wonder cruises departing October 17, 21, 24, 28 and 31.

Here is a glimpse at the treats awaiting Disney Cruise Line guests this Halloween:

Trick-or-Treat Trail: Young guests are invited to participate in a trick-or-treat hunt exploring multiple decks of the ship and collecting candy from various stations.

Haunted Parties: Following the trick-or-treat hunt, families will gather at the Goofy Pool for a fun-filled Halloween costume party – Disney Cruise Line style. The world-famous Disney Characters will join in the fun, wearing special Halloween costumes just for the occasion. For adults, the nighttime entertainment district on the Disney ships becomes the ghoulish setting for a costume contest and party sure to bring chills to everyone.

Spooky Movies: To get guests into the spirit of the season, Halloween-themed movies will be shown in the Buena Vista Theatre, on the Ariel Vision screen by the family pool and in guest staterooms.

Ghoulish Delights: Disney Cruise Line chefs have conjured some very special treats for Halloween, including chocolate cake with pumpkin filling, spider cakes and “Witch’s Brew.”

I don't remember reading it before, especially not the part about the "Spooky Movies" or "Ghoulish Delights". I'm sure I would have remembered seeing something about chocolate cake with pumpkin filling! :goodvibes

Here's some info!

Hi Linda,
It's always nice to meet a fellow NorCal person ! We live on the SF Penininsula right by SFO airport. I went to school at UC Berkeley (Go Bears!), and then just never left the area.

You must have had cool views of the city from Treasure Island... I've been there exactly once over the last 23 years (!!) that I've lived here. Do you still live in Livermore now?

Oopsie, I see from your post that you are up in Placerville now!

I have whats probably a stupid packing question. Do you all (or any of you) iron clothes before packing them? Is that a waste of time? Or will they at least come out of the suitcase less wrinkly if I do iron before packing them in?

I'm not our packers but I can pass on what Linda does - we do iron everything and then items going into the regular suitcase she rolls - they arrive wrinkle free! :thumbsup2

I'm especially interested in Minnie in her red polka dot dress. I was thinking about it and don't recall seeing her in it on the cruise. Usually I've seen her dressed up or in her sailor blues. LOL. So have you all seen Minnie in her dots before onboard?

I don't think I have ever seen her dressing in that dress . . . I can see her in the sailor dress, pirate dress, beach wear, formal & halloween costume . . .

You think black would work better than white on the shirts? The one below I'm doing for signatures from Jordak on a pillow case

Those designs are neat. I think they would look fine on black but realize if you are using dark transfers there will be the white background, not transparent. They would need some sort of border. That was the problem I had with my shirts- they had the black border around the design but it just blended into the black of the shirt and so it looks like just a big ol white square slapped on. An orange border would have worked much better on a black shirt, but this was my first attempt, so live and learn I guess. ;)

8 Days and counting!! Yesterday I finished Packing up DH's and my clothes into a suitcase. Then I took out everybody's bathing suits to put in a carry on type case along with a few days change of clothes. I think that might be better than having to lug the huge suitcase around from hotel to hotel to ship? )

That's kindof what we are doing- we will have a separate bag for the first two days and we will just leave those worn clothes dirty in the van while we are gone (sadly I will probably have to use the bag so don't laugh if you see our laundry pile loose in the vehicle!) :rotfl2: Of course we are re-wearing some things so I will have to do laundry at CIS (yes they have facilities- yay!) Wasn't thinking about the suits- if we are going to the Radisson pool after Grills/Fishlips then we will have wet suits so I guess I'll save the laundry for Fri night.:thumbsup2 Hope I remember that!!! LOL!

Are there any trick or treat activities for the kids?

Hi Scott- check your PM's I still need your stateroom number! Shoot me a PM with it please so I can deliver your lanyards in case you don't make it to the Meet! Thanks!!! :)

That sounds cool! Can't wait to see!!! :)

I hadn't either but we had never paid any attention to like- the daytime character meets. So hopefully we'll catch the red dress...if not we'll just get whatever pic we can, they will look cute no matter what! :cutie:

You know I tried the rolling trick the last cruise I was on and it did work well overall but I need to improve my technique (we had some crinkly sleeves and collars) One trick I think was great that I read was plastic dry-cleaning type bags over each of your ironed/pressed/steamed formal wear items before putting them in a garment bag. We didn't have enough bags so we used Ruffies type garbage bags- they very thin plastic kind. They worked like a charm- our formal clothes came out the best they ever had on our last cruise so I do recommend the bags! :thumbsup2

Also a quick reminder for those of you hoping to buy sandals at Kino in Key West. They are not open all Sundays so I recommend calling to ask/confirm that the shop will be open on 10/31 when we are in port. The more of us that call the more likely they will think business will be strong enough to make opening that day worthwhile!!!

The phone number for Kino sandals is 305-294-5044
