Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

I have never purchased a Traveler's Check. Is American Express preferred? Does it matter?

To be honest, I don't know if there are any others! DH just gets them at the bank, but I think if you have AAA, you can get them fee-free. You sign them once when you buy them, and then have to sign them again when you use them (and possibly show ID). I think pretty much everywhere takes them. The good thing is they can be replaced if you lose them or if they are stolen.

Thanks. I am AAA member, I'll check it out.

Jeff, How does it work when the 2012 dates are released? Since Halloween is our first cruise, won't rookies like me have to wait and book until after all the regular cruisers get first dibs?

Aren't we offered a discount on board if we rebook while on board? I'm hoping to do Thanksgiving 2012 and book on board.

I will make the change - you are lucky it is Group B! :rotfl2:

Thank you! I know - at first I was panicking thinking Jen's post about the new maps was for everyone, I felt sick!! In my head, I had them a room apart ie 5010 and miss a room 5008 - it just hit me in a moment of clarity whilst I was in work this morning

Ugh, having a bit of a nightmare at the moment. The last $500 of our spending money was due to be delivered to us this coming Monday morning, but there are posts on the UK Community board that the company have gone bust. I am hoping and praying that's not the case, but I have a very bad feeling about it. That's all you need to put a dampener on things! I am hoping it will all work out though, I keep telling myself it is only money, we can work it out, but we have been saving so hard for this trip, and we only have small window to make it up :sad1:. Sending myself and everyone else affected some much needed pixie dust :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Last year for 2011 they used the tiered system (Platinum, Gold, & Silver) to break up the reservation process. Platinum and Gold were able to book first, then Silver, and finally first timers. It wouldn't surprise me if they do that again. I don't remember how many days separated the tiers, perhaps somebody else does.

Hypothetically, the price could increase between the 19th and our cruise so although you get a discount and an on-board credit if you book on-board based on price increases it could work out to be more on-board.

I would book right away and then check the rate while on-board. DCL will give you the better deal.

As a point of information the holiday cruises are by far the most expensive. Sailing Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas can be insanely pricey. We booked a Cat 6 in Nov 2005; the cost was $2,000 more than the same stateroom and sailing (Western Caribbean) two weeks earlier or after.

It was fun, and I recommend it, but it just costs a lot more to sail over the holidays.

 Sorry to hear that you've got caught up in this Kristie, I've only just seen it posted on the UKTP forums. I hope that you get your money back very soon, it must be a worry for you and lots of the UK Community :(

Thanks for the tips. I did request a quote from Dreams Unlimited and a 5-day for TG is almost as much as our Halloween one this year.

Hoping things work out for you!

I got my FE gifts today and I think they look pretty cool!!:rolleyes1

Kristie I hope everything works out OK for you and you can get your money!!

ETA: I knew there was something else I wanted to mention...with all of the recent changes to excursion times in Cayman does anyone know if our docking times have changed there at all? I went to the DCL site to check and I could find just about any information but that. Couldn't look at the new booking info either since our cruise is sold out. Hopefully if there have been changes they aren't too drastic and don't affect those of us doing our own thing...(Captain Marvins). ;)

I received a reservation confirmation from DCL by email this morning. I have no idea why they are sending one since I booked and paid for the cruise it seems like a 100 years ago now, but the itinerary listed on it has us tendering at Grand Cayman from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.

We are thinking about doing Thanksgiving onboard in 2012 as well! I'm curious to see where the ships are going - I would really like to do the 3/4/3/4 but will wait to see what the options/prices are . . . :surfweb:

For all those saving change for spending money, when do you plan to cash in? :surfweb:
