Michelle you are correct DH name is Walter. He would like to feel like he is part of the group. Thanks
Kim

Hey Everyone,

Just got back from the dr in Nashville. Dr was happy with Patrick's progress on his medicine, but is not happy with the amount of weight he has put on recently. The plan is now for me to exercise with him for at least 30 minutes a day. It hopefully will help me as well as him. Also have to cut back on carbs. Diabetes runs in the family, and he is a prime candidate. We have set a goal of 10 lbs before he returns to the dr for a check-up on Sept. 30th. I'll let everyone know how this goes. It is going to be difficult for him, because he does not like fruit or vegetables. The joke around here is that the only thing green he will eat is icing on a cake. Thankfully, he says he wants to try strawberries and apples. Keep your fingers crossed that he likes these.

Michelle, thanks for the work for the FE. I do have a question. Did we talk about signing up for specific days to hand out our goodies? We did this on the last cruise and it really was neat, because we got things every day and not all at once. I could not remember if we did this or not.

Kim, Payton is so excited about us being neighbors. When do you plan to tell the kids?

Hope everyone has a great afternoon :flower3:.

Gena

Gena, I hope everything works out as planned for Patrick's goal. My mom is diabetic, so I know the issues. I swore when I had my girls we were gonna teach great eating habits to try and keep them out of the diabetic spectrum, so far so good. I have heard if you feed a child something 10 times they will eventually develope a like or tolerance for it so try that with fruits and veggies...ya know U can blend them in casseroles without kids knowing. Just some helpful suggestions.

As for the FE---no we didn't decide that. Pretty much decided to do our own days, unless people decide otherwise. I just don't want to say I have to do it this day and I find I am busy and don't wanna take the time that day. but whatever the majority says!

Corinna---I am glad I made your day with the photo! My Nelia(5) wants me to put it on her wall...so I might make a photo for her!

Alright gonna go update our page with Walter's name so he can officially be a Disney Dreamer!

Oh Today Sydney went for her braces molds today.....Weds she gets them on!! So we will have brace face on the cruise....LOL No gummies, fruit snacks or rollups, popcorn, carmel, gum, hard candy.......So if this is anyones FE feel free to skip us...LOL We won't take offense!! Luckily our kids Dont' have any of that except popcorn and they don't drink soda so giving that
up is no biggie deal. I guess the carbonated beverages can cause loosening of the adhesive. So all this isn't much of an adjustment for my kids!

Gena-- we are being bad parents again this year, the boys have no clue. We are hoping to keep it quiet till the morning we sail. Glad you had a good visit in Nashville. I am sure he will do great by then end of sept. Hunter will be glad to see Payton he keeps asking to go to Huntsville.

Michelle-- Kyle got his braces 2 weeks ago. Doing well so far.

Kim, ---Kyle is like 14 right? Wow Sydney is starting and is only 9. Most of her friends started now..... How many did Kyle get? Sydney is probably only getting 4 on the top and then the ones in the back that holds the wire. Keeping them for 12-18 months and 4 braces for $2800.00 OMG!! Then off for a year and then a full mouth after that! By then Nelia will probably be having her mouth looked at! Good golly....in the end I am looking at about $12,000 for 2 little girls.....That's a 14 day transatlantic Disney Cruise vacation..Hmmm braces or disney....ok making the adult descision and pick Disney...LMAO ok braces!

/
Michelle- Kyle got a full set of braces. they think he will have them for 3 years. Hunter is in his first steps of braces. He had teeth pulled and a spacer placed. We are waiting for adult teeth to replace the pulled ones then braces for him:) We couold also cruise several times for what it is costing us.
Kim

Well Kim, I don't feel alone in the braces..LOL When I got mine they waited for all the adult teeth but I guess now they do it while they wait too. it sorta makes sense to move SYdney's now cause if ya could see where these teeth are coming in at...poor girl is in the ugly duckling teeth phase!! they have pulled 2 , on the bottom which has helped the permanant ones there to straighten out but at this point they don't wanna pull the top incisors cause I guess they are the corner stones of ur mouth.....All I know is through it all Sydney's a trooper and now adays its cool to have a metal mouth...LOL

I've had students in my 4th grade class to get braces. Seems like it is happening more frequently now days. I was 14 when I got my braces. Our dentist has said to wait until all of Patrick's permanent teeth are in.

No problem on the FE. I couldn't remember what had been said. It may be easier to just go and pick a day and not be on a schedule.

Thanks for the words of encouragement for Patrick. We went to Walmart tonight looking for stuff for him. He kept going to the stuff loaded with carbs. I had him read the total carbs on the boxes so he could see how high a lot of his favorite things are. We bought fruit tonight to make a smoothie tomorrow (his request). Keep your fingers crossed that he likes it.

Hope everyone has a restful evening.

Gena

Good Luck Gena!! If I can think of any ideas that are low sugar/carbs I will pass it on!
My mom isn't a good diabetic and it has affected everything, so hopefully he will think long term. I am sorta the opposite of my home...I have to have sugar or I get lite headed! Not fun either! Cause all I wanna do is eat....LOL not helping my figure...LOL:confused3
Well I will be sending encouragin thoughts your way!:flower3:

Hi Gena,
Something that they say helps the whole family with diabetic issues is the weightwatchers program. I'm a firm believer that it does teach you how to eat good and make good food for the whole family without singling him out. It's a learning curve, but it does become habit. No I don't work for them. but if you are interested in finding great receipes or ideas. weightwatchers.com or www.dwlz.com are great sites.

Good Evening....well here it has been muggy today and now we are preparing ourselves for the severe storms coming from Indiana! Arrgghhh! Busy weekend, grad party, bday party, tennis lessons, and a cookout for fathers day! Hubby gets to golf on father's day. Kinda broke right now and honestly I don't buy anything for my hubby and he doesn't for mothers day. I prefer to get what the kids make and then treat to a special dinner. I figure my DH is not my dad, so homemade stuff from the girls means more anyhow!

So what is everyone doing this weekend?

Happy Father's Day to all of the dads out there. Only 104 more days until we sail. It seems like forever, but it will be here before we know it. :) Have a great day everyone. :flower3:

Gena

Hope everyone had a wonderful Father's day! We've changed our dining time to late at 8:15. I was talking with a neighbor yesterday, they just got back from cruising on the Magic and she said the late dinner seating was wonderful due to the dine and play for the kids. Sooo...she convinced me to switch to late.

What do u mean changed it....I have u as Late...LOL what is dine and play??? I am confused. Our kids dont play when we dine!!

Dine and play is when your kids come to dinner with you and they serve your kids dinner right away (instead of course by course) and then a camp couselor comes to get them when they are finished to take them to the appropriate camp while you finish your dinner. It is my understanding that this is only available during the late dinner seating. I'm sure someone else on here with be able to clarify this for us. This is my first Disney cruise, but my neighbor told me about it and said it was wonderful. This way her kids were able to enjoy the early show and not fall asleep during the shows. I know last year when we were on another cruise line, I would have my DD served immediately and then I would have to leave the dinner table and walk her to the camp and then come back to dinner. Disney definately has their act together.

OIC, well when we were on the last time we did that, fed the kids right away and DH ran them to the club. Then they would wanna come out by 8 to see the shows! I don't mind running them real quick in between courses, there is no way mine could eat that late. That would screw up their normal schedule too much! LOL Plus our rule in our house is you don't eat that close to bedtime and though I cave a little I don't like to get their bodies used to eating late.

OH! We were originally late, then I switched to early now back to late. I can't make up my mind.:confused3 I'm sure I'll be o.k. with either. As long as we get to eat, swim and play we don't really care, it's Disney  Now off to bed. Try to stay cool tomorrow, we've had 100 degree plus here.
