Oct 3, 2009 Wester Carribean

Laura, the more I watch the little dancing man the more I think to myself "I can't remember the last time I saw Tommy moving that fast, or that much!" Of course, I only see him once a year....

Terri--I've figured out the time stamp thing...call me and I'll tell you:thumbsup2

I have bought pins off of Ebay and have only paid 99 cents for some. They are actually really cute. Gabi does not really want to trade the ones she has got, so, the pin trading for us probably wont happen. She has alot of the princess ones and toy story pins.

Annette-you are all set:) Got ya on the list.

Kristi-I am so glad that you all made it home safely!!! I cant wait to see Kaitlins pictures and hear all about your journey!!!

How formal is everyone planning to go on this cruise?

We did gown and tux on the last one but are thinking more like black dress for me and tie and shirt for Darrell.

I like to really dress up. I have an evening gown that I bought for my cruises last year and a cocktail dress for semi-formal night. DH is not really the formal type. He wears a dress shirt, dress pants and a Disney tie with a nice vest.

Here are some photos from our cruises last year which show our idea of formal and semi-formal outfits:

Unfortunately the dress does not show up properly on the semi-formal photo, but here is a photo of it:

Pretty sure we aren't going to dress up this much in October though.

Those are great dresses girls!! I didnt plan on being extremely formal. I have a really nice black (knee length) cocktail dress that I plan on wearing if I dont find anything new. My husband will just wear a suit not tux. Now my girls will be dressed very formally as I think little girls are adorable all dressed up:love: They will be matching for one nite and I do still have to buy for the formal nite. I am going to try to find a Mickey tie for my husband to wear. He will huff and puff about it but I think it would be very fitting!!!:)

Ryan does a suit for formal and semi-formal. I'm not sure what I will wear this time. I want to get new dresses, I've worn the same ones for the last two or three cruises, it's time for an update. When I shop for a formal I go with no expectations, I go with whatever I can find that fits me, doesn't make me look dead (I have pale skin) and is in my budget. We'll see what I end up with. :confused3 I'm going to try to get Ryan a couple of Disney ties too...I'm not sure why he doesn't have any yet.

My guys normally do the white shirt and tie for both nights. Last time, I had 2 different black dresses I wore for the two nights (one dress was more a coctail dress). I have a longer black skirt and dressy blouse that I think I will wear this time for formal night. Don't know about semi-formal night yet. I am lucky just to get my guys into ties for those two nights.

For us we get dressed up--Del wears his suit both nights(he has a mickey tie) and I still have to shop for my dresses cause I won't wear the same dress again---well maybe the red/white/black long dress(cause it was comfy) but normally no cause I don't want photos in the same dresses on our walls from different cruises. The girls have a closet full right now and I have a few for casual nights but I still need a formal and semi formal. I will probably wait till prom time and see whats left over on clearance.

Lisa love the hot pink and black one.....can I have it.:rotfl: ....Just kidding...well about having it but I do love it!!

Here is Semi formal night

I actually love the girls semi-formal dresses. Those believe it or not were a Target find $5 each

We dont get dressed up..been there done that. lol.
Last year we did Palo on formal night so we avoided one night, the second night dh was going to wear a shirt/tie, well our dry cleaners gave him the wrong shirt.. it was too small, so there went the shirt / tie. :) the girls and I had on dresses, very casual.

and on formal/semi formal night is when we do our Steeler jerseys pictures! :) We stick out in a crowd!!

WOW! You all look so nice...I'm ready to go shopping. To me there is not much difference in formal and semi-formal. Anyone care to give me your definition of the difference in the two? Either way I'm planning on buying more than one new dress anyway :) Right now I can still shop for Amaya when it comes to dresses, she isn't that picky yet. I know in a few years I won't be able to do that.

Andria - Mark got me a Kindle (wireless reader) for my birthday so I'm ready the Twilight series on that. If I had the hard copies I would certainly give them to you. I'm on my 3rd one, I can't put it down. I read it while I'm walking on the treadmill and it sure does help the time go by!

I personally look at formal as "black tie" like a formal wedding or prom like--well maybe not today's HS prom but mine they dressed for. Semi formal I look as tie for men not necc for a jacket but I like Del to wear one...looks nicer in photos. I like floor length gowns for formal. Ok that was my input...:goodvibes

Well, I'm just back from the gym and I sure hope it's working cuz it's a lot of work!
Terri-what is a wireless reader? Is it like a book on tape? I've never heard of a Kindle.

Terri isn't it like downloading a book onto a reader...I think I saw something like tht Oprah was showing for her book club.

I am sure it is working Andrea!! If anything U are toning every muscle in ur body. Oh I just did Biggest loser high intensity cardio this morning...Omy my legs hurt!..I almost gave up since it's that time of the month & I am hurting but I thought of all of you talking about formals and thought oh no I gotta .keep at this.

Val ---how do avoid dressing....I thought Palo is suit jacket? At least that is what it says for dinner. We have never done it. Dressing up is one of my favs on the cruise. I look forward to it. My only problem is my hair is fine so it doesn't hold a doo as well as women with thicker hair.

Palo has really lightened up on their dress code. alot of men still have suits on and jackets, but John hasnt worn one the last 2 times. This year he didnt even wear a tie ( I dont think...I had a migraine that day, so my memory is a little foggy). This year I saw a woman with dark jeans on ....I thought that was a bit much, but what are you gonna do?

I noticed the dress code in the dining rooms has really changed too, women in plain shorts.... I am all for dress shorts, but these were clothes you wear to the pool. tennis shoes etc etc. Every night we are dressed for dinner.. maybe that is why I dont go all out for formal night.??

No we change after dinner into our Jerseys. :lmao: I am not that tacky. :lmao: even though they are more comfy! But everyone in line has on nice suits / dresses and we have on our jerseys. :)

Andrea & Michelle - A Kindle is a reader that you download books too. Mark saw it on Oprah and ordered it for me because I love to read. The downloaded books only cost a fraction of what you'd pay in a book store. And it can store hundreds of books. Its really cool because when you turn it back on it goes right to the page where you left off. lf you don't know what a word means you highlight it and it gives you the definition AND you can flag pages and write in notes. I think it was like $300 though so they're aren't cheap. I'm sure I'll have it with me on the cruise so if you haven't seen one by then I'll show it to you (I'll show it to you Andrea the next time I see you).

I will enjoy dressing up on the cruise because I don't get to do it that often, Mark won't like it but he'll have to suffer through it. I wear jeans every day to work so I don't have much of a "dressy" wardrobe, that's why I can't wait to start shopping!

I hope everyone has a good day.

Terri
