Oct 3, 2009 Wester Carribean

Hi all! Hope everyone had a great week. Mine, as usual, has been busy. I started browsing places for a nice "formal" outfit for myself and for my daughter for the cruise. :) Haven't bought anything but I'm having fun checking it out.

Hey Michelle. I LOVE the logo idea. :) I was trying to put something together that was similar to that only I was going to have the ship coming out of the clouds and have a Disney character (or two) lounging on the beach at Castaway Cay "dreaming". However, I am not an artist so it has been taking me longer to do it. I like your idea better AND it's an easy one to put onto smaller items and still see it. Sooooo, if all are in favor of it please let us know. And if so, Michelle, could you put a link to it here for all to be able to use?

Thanks! Kristi PS: To those of you who are keeping tabs on names, stateroom numbers, etc., I am relying upon you completely for helping with the lists. :) It's only right that I delegate some things. :) Thanks!

Oh, and PSS: I will get for you our stateroom number shortly for the list. :)

Julie....got the deal on choicehotels.com.......Just wanted a decent hotel close to port so I don't have far to drive can get up, have donuts or something and head to port.

Kristi.... I will shut u an email through here, then when U respond to mine and I can email you from my server I will send the pic to you in ur email. I just found the pic on another thread and saved the photo to my comp. I am not sure how to do the whole link thing cause it doesnt work the same on here. I love your idea too but I am not handy like that.....I found some photos and emailed them to my FIL in hopes he can take words out and replace with mine...LOL Hey he's retired and needs something to do.

Alright you guys..I did it. I made my hotel reservations. I took into consideration everything everyone said and I talked to my husband (not that he really has that much say:) ) and I booked it. As much as everyone was praising the Hyatt, I figured if I was going to spend about $100 per nite I might as well book a value Disney hotel. So I booked the All Star Movie Resort. It was $89.00 per nite. I have never stayed here before, but have driven by and it looked cute.

We will fly in on thurs. and go to Disney on fri. then hit the cruise on sat.. We are going to rent a car, so that makes life a little easier. I know Disney has the magical express, but Matt would rather have a car...fine by me.

Michelle-I know I could cancel the transfers, but it is our first disney cruise and I kinda wanted to have the full experience. Trust me...I know it would be cheaper to not have disney pick us up, but I wanna get on that bus!!!:yay:

That's my plan as of right now. I hope it doesn't change, but ya never know!! Now I just gotta save more money for all the grandiose plans I am making:rolleyes:

Haha No you don't Robin...If you get on that grand bus sometimes you don't arrive till after noon/1. I like being there at 10. I don't know my kids love driving over and seeing who can count the most Disney Line Cruise buses taking people to the airport that have just got off the boat. Also when we go over the bridges/hills mine get excited to see who sees the boat first ,noticing the stacks. I guess everyone makes their own traditions, thats just one of ours. I don't care to be crowded on a bus like a sardine and don't like hearing a ton of screamin kids. LOL I have my own screamin everytime the find a DCL bus arguing who saw it first and who has the most..LOL but that is what builds the excitement on that morning. I love it!!!!!

Michelle-Why you wanna rain on my little marching band of a parade I got goin' on? I was all excited cuz I thought I did a good thing and you are messing with my plans:laughing: !!! Didnt you read where I said "that's my plan and I hope it doesnt change"? Now I have to rethink my thinking. UUUGGGHHH!!

Alright...seeing as how I am new to the disney cruise way of life...here's a couple of questions.
1. Do I really need to get to the port early? If so why. Is it to make Palo ressie's or to book the kids club? Couldnt I just do that online at the 75 day mark? (I wasnt going to eat at Palo's this trip anyway)
2. Do you really think the bus will be that crowded? Won't most people take a cab because it is cheaper and faster?
3. Let's say I dont get to the port until 12/1pm...will most everyone already be on the ship and I will have missed something good at the cruise terminal?

Man, I really wanted to get on that bus...it looked so nice in the pictures (yeah, I gotta stop booking things by just looking at the pictures!!):sad1:

Help me!!! I'm a newbie...your suppose to be looking out for me:)

LMAO Robin you are cracking me up...... I think it is all a personal preference. I have never taken the bus I just noticed that when I read up on it ;the bus doesn't even p/u at Disney till about 11 or later. FOR ME, I like checking n early, registering at the terminal for the kids. I have registered at terminal and on ship..much better at terminal. U can register online but you have to get them their bracelets and ur pager.

I like to get a good boarding number and get the kids to Parrott to eat lunch buffet, then DH takes them to swim at the pool and I set on to stateroom to set up my many surprises for them. I then wander a bit and book a few things I can't arrange until I am on, then back to see what luggage has arrived. Usually I have my luggage emptied, and room organized before the sail away party. Really it is personal for everyone. I am just an organized person and for me once I do all that and am headed to sailaway party I am all set, unpacked and ready to relax away.

No u won't miss anything at the terminal, there's a few characters that come out and pose for pics but nothing much.

Robin do whats best for you. This is just what I like! I am looking out for ya...given ya more info and you make ur descision.

Man, I go to a couple of soccer games and you guys are chatting away without me! What's up with that?!:confused3
Michelle, I was going to post the pic, but I see that Lisa already did...Thanks Lisa (our resident picture poster).
Robin, I am with Michelle on getting there early...we actually have almost the exact same plans (you know what they say..great minds and all) Anyway, the first time we went we didn't know you could get there early so we got there promptly at 1, went right on the ship and it was already packed. While we didn't "miss anything" I felt that we lost out on some valuable "ship time". If you get there at 1 you kind of have to rush lunch and the kids may or may not get some pool time. Because everything shuts down at about 3 for the lifeboat drill. So, by getting there early I feel that we just get some "extra" time. But, not to worry if you stick with your plan you wont miss anything. It just means that you will be eating mine and Michelles "left-overs" at lunch :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: .
The only thing that may change our plans is if we do MNSSHP. In that case we will be staying on Disney property (not sure where yet) and we will have to see how early the girls will be able to get up after staying up late for the party. But that whole plan will depend on if they have the party the Friday night before, and if we have enough money in our budget to do it, and that is a big IF.

OK, I thought I would give you guys a laugh...
As I'm sure some of you know DCL just came out with their 2010 sailings. Well, we knew that the Christmas sailing on the Magic was going to be an extended sailing, so I put in a request for a quote before the release date for two Cat. 9 staterooms for a party of 5. I got my quote for an 11 night southern carribean sailing...are you ready for this...seriously are you ready...it was over $18,000 :lmao: :lmao: . Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE DCL  and my DH and I have said that cruises we take the kids on will be DCL, it just wont be that one! I mean can you imagine? Over $18,000 for one vacation, and that's not including all the costs that go along with it. Anyway just wanted to make everyone go...:scared1:

Andrea-----Funny "left-overs":rotfl: That was cute, true but cute. I can't believe that price wow and I wanted to go on a longer cruise...guess we will have to save for that and skip cruising for a few yrs...LOL

Andrea that price is crazy!!! I wanted to see what price it would give me and it quoted me $11,000 for a cat 11 room. I like the itinerary and I know Royal Caribbean goes to those same places for ALOT less!!!

Robin ---I did the same as you but for Cat. 8. I also was pricing the Transatlantic. Was trying to talk my husband into cancelling 09 and going on that, but he said the airfare to spain would kill us too. Hey a "Disney Dreamer" can dream!!!:cool1: The thing about RCCL is its not DCL! I don't think I will cruise RCCL till they are older. I am not a fan of casinos and so many smokin sections. My DD is asthmatic and like the less smokin!

Hey are we using this to ID our doors...I have read that the green ears are a DISer ID

green20mickey20head.jpg

Also saw this name tags and thought they would be cute to wear to ID us all on the first day!!

Hey Michelle-I already have the green ears to make as a magnet for my door. I also requested name tags from Tom and those will also be magnets. He didnt put my hometown on it, but that's ok it still looks nice. Are you thinking that we should wear these on tshirts? If so, I dont know how to transfer them to put on clothing.

I made my car reservation and I am dropping it off in port canaveral on saturday. Avis has a complimentary shuttle to the port so they can drop us off anytime. I guess I like that idea. When the cruise is over I really wont be in that big of a hurry to get to the airport to go home, so I can hop on the bus then.:)

Parade pics:

We got this spot on Main St just 5 minutes before the start (and these are the people cruising with me - DH, niece Lila, BIL - Mike and Sis - Jen) :
