Oct 3, 2009 Wester Carribean

We now have 2 balcony rooms. New room numbers are 6560 and 6122. I am very excited. Have not been able to reach DH yet had to share with all of you first. Gena Hunter will be upset as he was loooking forward to you guys being our neighbor. Could not pass up a good deal. Michelle if you could change on FE list. Got to try and get back to work.
Kim

Hey Kim, how did you get a good deal on a balcony room?

Hi Carrie, welcome aboard! My DD is 6 turning 7 on the cruise. We are actually from IL also but closer to St. Louis. We live near Alton if you know where that is. We are flying down Oct 2. too long of a drive for me, but I'm sure the drive will be beautiful this time of year. This is our first Disney cruise but we've been on several other cruise lines. TWO MORE WEEKS!!!!

I definitely know where Alton is. We visit the St. Louis area often. We leave exactly 2 weeks from today. In fact, we'd be on the road right now in 2 weeks! We're all so excited.

I just found out we got upgraded from a Category 9 to a Category 6. I'm so excited now I can hardly stand it!

Ok, I feel accomplished! I just finished the adult FE's with the exception of 4 that I have to fix because they got messed up. But the rest are done, packaged and packed! :cool1: Now I'm waiting on the stuff I ordered for the kids...
Yesterday I took Ashley's semi-formal and Riley's formal dress in to be altered and I found shoes for Riley for formal night. I think the only things I need to find now are shoes for Bailey and Ashley for formal night and a tie for Ryan for formal night. I can now say I have officially started packing. Besides the FE stuff I have all my dinner clothes and shoes packed and the bathroom stuff. I'll be starting on the girls dinner clothes and shoes next. By the end of this weekend I should have everything except the clothes we are still wearing packed. This is a first for me. Usually I am franticly packing the day before. This is going to be nice for a change to not be rushed at the end. I guess 17 months is enough time to plan a vacation, mostly stress free. :thumbsup2
Well, off to get Bailey from school...

Congrats on your upgrade:cool1:!

Looks like there is quite a few getting upgrades. I want an upgrade I need y'alls secret. Hey we moved up a catagory from our last Disney cruise so that is an upgrade from last time ;).

But if any of you have any of that extra pixie dust you can sweep it our way!!!

Looks like we are all getting everything firmed up with last minutes and packing. It is making it so exciting to come on and read the board :cool1::cool1::cool1:.

Whew! I'm trying to catch up on the back log of posts I have not read. Fun! We have our docs and I'm wrapping up a visit with my Dad, here. He leaves Monday and then, I'll pack. It's driving me crazy waiting, but I really want to dive in and not come up for air until it's done - you know?!

I noticed someone mention Tender Tickets. What's the story with that? We've only sailed on 3 day cruises and have never taken a tender so I would love to know more about this.

We booked our Dolphin excursion in Grand Cayman. Wanted Cozumel, but it was already full through the TA. But, GC will be just as nice. Not sure what we will do in Cozumel, though. With two kids, 6 and 4, I'm just not sure what they will enjoy. I would love to hear what the rest of you are doing at our ports.

Happy packing, re-packing and pre-loading of the van to everyone!

Aww look Andrea----I am rubbing off on you...maybe next cruise u will start packing even further out.....LOL

Well I got my social cards today....actually these were a good idea....I think I will put one with every adult FE and if you happen to take photos of something and my kids make their way into the photo...a copy emailed would be appreciated..=)

took my 3 memory cards to the store and got all the photos off and onto a DVD... so when my vacation starts Wed Sept 30th then I will be set...now to empty the hard drive of my video camers. Man are we getting closer!

Ok off to watch Fringe.....ttfn

I really have to get with the programme again. After having been away for the last two weekends and being extremely busy, I have not done anything for the cruise since the end of August. Fortunately I have the weekend off and not plans, so I will label the gifts for the late comers, I will finish off the gifts for the older boys and I finally will assemble the main gift. I wonder how long that will take. I have pretty much everything for my Secret Mickey, but I need to do a few finishing touches and then type up the little notes that I intend to leave for my family.

DH just texted me to let me know that he saw an incoming Delta plane. This should be the one that will take us to Atlanta and then on to Orlando in 12 days time. I so wish it was time to get on that plane already. Still, I have only 7.5 days at work left and those will just fly.

In Grand Caymen you need to tender to the island (you ride a smaller boat from the cruise ship to the island as it does not dock right at the port). If you booked your dolphin excursion through Disney directly, you don't need to worry about tickets, Disney will give you all the information and directions you need the night before. If you did not book with Disney, you will need to get your own tickets. They are (usually) given out in the Buena Vista Theater from 7:30-11:00; after that, no tickets are needed as there is less demand for the tender. Priority is given to people on Disney excursions. After that, they start giving out tickets to everyone else. It takes about half an hour to get to the island including loading and unloading as you have to wait for a full tender boat in order to leave. If you are not booked through Disney, you will need to take this into consideration when timing your excursion. I booked ours at 11:00, just to give us a bumper.
In Key West we are parasailing and then renting an electric car. In Grand Caymen we are going on an Island Tour (Hell, Governor's Mansion, Turtle Farm, Seven Mile Beach) and then splashing around at Margaritaville. In Cozumel we have the Mexican Tasting Workshop booked through Disney. I am not sure if your kids would enjoy these, but maybe you could use it as a springboard. No matter what, I am sure you will have a great time!

WE ARE SO CLOSE!

This is so good to know! We decided not to book through Disney since their price was double versus booking through the site. Plus, we get to go to the turtle farm for free. Really a good deal. So, with this in mind, I will send DH up early to wait for our tix while I keep the kiddos busy (or get them ready). Our excursion is in the afternoon, but we have plans to visit the Ritz earlier in the day. Want to make the most of our time, there.:yay:

Thanks for sharing all your excursions, too! I would love to hear how you enjoyed the Mexican Tasting! Sounds so neat!

Mindi if you look on the roll call list--u will see the late FE people are notated as late list in the column where it says yes or no.

Thanks Michelle!

Okay, another FE question. Is there anyone on the cruise that would do better with something in LARGER print? You'll understand later but my mom benefits from LARGER print so I thought I would ask. It's easy for me to do this for those that it would benefit.

Thanks.

Mindi

Michelle. One last time, we have new room numbers. DH was not happy we were so far apart. We are now in rooms 7100 and 7102. I promise we will not change again.
Mindi. We were able to get a good deal with Florida resident rate because our family has a house in Ft Myers. Otherwise we could not have done it.

I wish we had somebody in FL to get a FL rate. That is awesome.

I am working on getting my FE together.

Can someone let me know if this sounds right? I count 37 families not including mine. I count 29 cabins with children? (these numbers include the late arrivers).

Thanks.

12 more days until we fly out!!! I am so excited!!!

Still waiting for travel documents from my TA. She is waiting for them from her main office, but said I'll have them mid-week. I'm so jealous of all of you who already have yours. But, she has been a wonderful TA, so if this is the only thing wrong with dealing with her (and really it is just me being anxious - not a real problem), then I guess I can deal with it!

I noticed that on the Dreamers website, DS Jake's age is listed on the roll call, but not on the FE list. If it helps anyone putting their stuff together, he is 5.

Went to get my stuff together today to make magnets, but Michaels didn't sell the magnet paper anymore! Neither did Staples. Going to check AC Moore on Sunday (going to a wedding tomorrow in CT - 3 hour drive). Any other ideas on who may sell that if AC Moore doesn't have it?

Thanks! SEE YA REAL SOON! :goodvibes
