Hi everyone! I just got back from an awesome trip to the world from Oct 24th - Oct 29th. We stayed at POFQ and were in building 4. It was me, DH, DS (4) and DF. This was the first trip for both DS and DF. We had a great trip. We absolutley love POFQ! This resort is so beautiful and quaint. It is small, so it was perfect for us. We have stayed at All Star Music before and did not like the long walk to the food court and bus stop (I know, I know, this resort is smaller than a lot of other Disney resorts!), so we really enjoyed the closeness of this resort. We were no more than a 5 minute walk to anything (pool, food court, bus stop, lobby, etc.). I put a little more detailed report on the resort on the Resorts board, so I won't go into anymore detail here other than to say that I would highly recommend this resort to anyome with small children (or really anyone for that matter!).
We were on the dining plan, and boy did we eat well. We ate at Boatwright's a few times for dinner, Cap N' Jacks for dinner, Hollywood and Vine (character meal) for breakfast, and Trail's End Restaurant for dinner one night. We ate at Cosmic Ray's one day for lunch, and most of other other CS meals were at the food court. I know, not much variation, but I really enjoyed the food at the food court, so I didn't mind eating there. All of our meals were great, and I would recommend any of the above places for eating. We definitley got our money's worth!
As for the parks, we didn't make it to Epcot so I can't comment on that one. But the other parks did not seem too crowded. Animal Kingdom on Saturday was by far the most crowded of the 3 that we went to. We got there around 10 and had about a 20 minute wait on the Safari, which I didn't think was bad. However, after that, the crowds really seemed to pick up. I think that maybe the reason it seemed so crowded is that this park feels like it has much more narrow walkways, so I guess that contributed to the feeling of being crowded. We didn't really ride any of the big rides at any of the parks, so I can't really comment on the wait times. DF is not a big rider and DS was more into meeting the characters than riding rides, so we spent more time doing that.
As for the weather, I loved it! It was gray and overcast almost everyday, which is perfect for me as I don't handle the heat well at all. It was in the upper 70's to low 80's with a pretty good breeze just about every day. If the skies had been clear, I'd say it would have been upper 80's, which I would have not enjoyed at all, so I was glad to see the overcast skies. It rained a little everyday, but we only got caught in it one day, which was Monday at Magic Kingdom.
We took the haunted hayride at Fort Wilderness on Sunday. We had a blast there! I would definitely recommend this to everyone. Just be sure to allow yourself enough time to get there. We took the boat from POFQ to Downtown, took the bus to Fort Wilderness outpost depot, and then took an internal bus to the Settlement depot. So, it is a little bit of a pain to get there, but it was a lot of fun.
