Susan, sorry to hear that Turner's team lost, but loved the story! Those are the best stories... even though at the time it isn't too funny, but when you look back at it....

Denine, I don't know why you still have a lot of snow around your neck of the woods... we have some piles around here, but you can see LOTS of grass! We got the same amounts of snow fall, actually if you believe the news, we might actually got a few more inches then you. (at least that's what the reported on channel 8...)

Well, Garry has to go to court tomorrow to testify against a Nicaragua gang that held up a local restaurant a few years back. They finally caught the last of the scum bags so now is the trial. This gang is suppose to be one of the worst out there.... makes me a little un-easy about him testifying but what you can you do? It's his job and someone has to do it. Just hope their hommies aren't outside the court house waiting for the police officers to come out! Since Garry "technically" isn't on the streets daily, he doesn't wear his bullet proof vest under his uniform shirt all the time, since he is in his office or station for most of the day..... SO, knowing how this gang and it's members can be........... I told him he should be wearing it tomorrow. He even has more of a target on his back now because he has "bars" (got promoted to Captain, back then he was still a Sgt.) and he's more of a "trophy" for these scum bags..... Oh well, deep breathes!!!!!!!!!!!


Denine, tell me about the "let down" the kids have after coming back from a trip. At least Kaleigh was home and could slowly be brought back to the whole "school day" routine. When we came back from WDW in Jan. we got home around 10pm and the kids were up and out the door the next morning. No time for them to get upset about coming back from vacation. We just kept telling them about how they were gonna see their friends in school and how excited they would be to hear about their trip (which their friends were and even some of their teachers). It would be nice to take a few days and easy into it, but I'm a meanie and they don't get that option. Hope she isn't getting sick. It seems like every time you go on a trip one of you guys always get sick.

Barb, Oh Barb!!!!!! Where are you?

Sandy, I'm gonna try the chicken recipe tomorrow night. I will tell you how it comes out!!! Yummy!

Good to hear from you Julie. Can't wait to hear about the recipe. Your story about Garry and the gang made me think of my dad. As you know, my dad was a police detective. A big time Indian activist put a price on my dads head. His name is Russell Means. It was so scary to think of it. It makes me soooooo mad when I see him on the news or just recently he was in a movie. I can't remember the name of the movie. Pixie dust to Garry.

Mom - What is Cody and Cris doing? We will have the girls so they can entertain Joey and Tyler. I just looked up that guy and he has been really active and in a few movies. The Last of the Mohicans, Natural Born Killers, Into the West and Pathfinder, a 2007 movie about Vikings' battling Native Americans in the New World. He was a voice actor in Pocahontas as Chief Powhatan.

Julie - That is scary about the gangs and Garry. Please let us know how everything goes. Praying he is safe and everything goes okay today.

Denine - I hope you got some sleep last night. Yesterday morning it rained here and melted away a lot of our snow and ice.

We have a new family member! He doesn't have a name yet, but he is black and white and very outgoing. He picked us. He is about 1-1/2 years old. He spent the night in the bathroom and is now out exploring.

Yes, we still have a lot of snow. You can see most of the front yard, but the backyard is still completely covered. I haven't seen my deck in months, but it is starting to appear. Rain for the next several days after today.

Ya, that Russell Means was over the top about Mt Rushmore going back to the Indians and other issues in SD. He actually broke out a window and escaped in the Courtroom. I BELIEVE he is from SD. My dad just shrugged it off. I would have crawled up in a hole. It was after my mom and my siblings moved here.

Denine, you went and did it, didn't you?! The snow in my backyard stayed around for ever, too. We still have some but very little. I think our house shades it in the afternoon and just doesn't get the sun to melt it.

Heidi, I thought that Means was from SD. I somewhat remember him having a court case here when I worked at the Courts. What a jerk. I've heard that he demands the roles in the movies to make sure it is done politically correct. I kind of figured it would be time for the girls to come down.

OMG, Russell Means has a tie to Cleveland as well. Small world! Here is an interesting article:

I googled his arrests and came up with this. My dad must have been involved with the riot it mentions in Sioux Falls. According to his own recollection, Means has been "shot three times, bombed, tear-gassed, harassed, and beaten by police." He served a year at the South Dakota Penitentiary for his involvement in a riot in Sioux Falls in 1974.

Some interesting facts about him and the Cleveland Indians:
The Washington Post has called Means the "…. biggest, baddest, meanest, angriest, most famous American Indian activist of the late 20th century."

In Cleveland Means met Dennis Banks, one of the cofounders of the newly organized American Indian Movement, a militant Indian civil rights group. Inspired by Banks and his movement, he set up AIM's second chapter in Cleveland. His next protest was to file a $9 million dollar lawsuit against the Cleveland Indians baseball club for use of Chief Wahoo as a mascot, asserting in the suit that the symbol demeaned Native Americans. This latter action provoked Cleveland ball club fans, and led to Means's decision to resign his position at the Cleveland Center in 1972. He returned to South Dakota and participated in further activities intended to bring attention to Indian rights. In the spring of 1994, AIM cofounder Clyde Bellecourt accused Means of selling out the AIM cause by accepting a $35,000 settlement from the 1972 suit against the Cleveland Indians baseball organization. Means, who left the American Indian Movement in 1988, responded that his current organization, the American Indian Anti-Defamation League, would be filing another lawsuit against the ball club he never received any of the money.

WOW, why in the world would Disney have him as a voice over in Pocahontis? I read the article and I knew he was bad but not THAT bad! In 1998, he was charged for assault and battery on his 80-year-old father-in-law. WOW!!

Not much going on here. Just trying to figure out what to get Chris for his 40th Birthday this weekend.

We have a new disruptive student in class. His name is Maurice Varajao (sp). The Varajao because he is a flopper. He just flops over in any direction. He is silly!
Hera is curious, but not ready to meet him face to face. He is though! But, Hera for the first time EVER, jumped up with me on the living room chair and snuggled! She has never jumped up on me ever! She stayed for at least an hour. I really enjoyed it. Hera has even been letting Kaleigh pet her as long as she protects her from Maurice.

I took pictures last night and will have Jerry help me put them and the Williamsburg pictures on FB.

Sandy: That is one scary dude! Everyone tries to sue the Indian's for their Chief Wahoo logo.

Getting a manicure at 10:00. I broke a nail far down and Kelly usually will put some artificial nail stuff on it. I keep catching it and ripping it more. My thyroid pills have really helped my nails.

Spin and Win Wednesday. Headed to Del Taco for breakfast. You buy something and you spin a wheel and win free food for the next time you go.

Just starting to snow. Shouldn't be much though

I had a hard time sleeping last night and now I have a head ache. Life would be much better for me if I could just sleep through the night. Probably won't happen in my lifetime though.

Oh Julie. Where are you? You left us hanging about Garry's court appearance. How did it go?

Heidi, Cheryl isn't doing all that well. She is up to 3 blood transfusions a week. To me, it's looking more and more like Grandpa. Bless her heart, she is still sitting on the Bench. Bet it would be hard to feel so bad and have to concentrate on court cases! Uncle Mike didn't even really talk all that much last night. I am sure that both of them are worried sick about the 3 kids as well.

Hera and Maurice are still walking on glass. He wants to meet Hera and she keeps hissing and growling at him. He just walks away. I have to get him out of the bathroom at night. He is making a mess every night!

We are going to see Alice in Wonderland tonight! Popcorn for dinner!

Denine - I will have to check out your pictures tonight, I went to my Hip Hop class last night and came home later so I didn't stay long on FB. I hope Hera warms up to him soon, sounds like he is ready for a friend!

Mom - Is Uncle Mike down here or did you talk with him on the phone? That is so sad about Cheryl, those kids are still so little. It would be heartbreaking for them to lose their mom after all they went through before the adoption.

Today is my Friday, I am so happy as it has been a rough week at work. Stupid High School BS going on here. I see that Barb is active on FB so maybe we lost her to FB. I wish we could have FB access here at work!!!!!! Then again it might happen as now my agency has a FB page and Twitter account. Maybe we could use social networking sites to recruit for our vacant positions!
