Oh yea, my trip report. I guess I could make a long story short by simply saying ...
I went out to play with the BIG DOGS and came home whimpering! LOL
I did have fun, and I'm glad I went. We went over two passes and took dirt roads between old mines and a ghost town. It really pushed me though, and at one point on Mosquito Pass I had to swallow my pride (read.. remember that my first job is being a functional Mom) and ask for help. I had a real bad feeling about a particular cliff, so I had Ben ride my bike over that part, and I rode on the back of another guys bike. I didn't know the guy, he was super nice and just there to help people, but I pledged my undying love to him. Oh, Susan, if you have a boy, will you name him Dennis? My Step-Dad called me last night to tell me he had asked another volunteer about
my Dennis and learned that he is a silver and gold medalist champion rider in both the US and Europe and lives in Colo. Suzuki was a sponsor of this event and also sponsors him, so he was volunteering. Man, other women try to get his autograph and I had him giving me a ride and even doing a little work on my bike!
Mosquito Pass was really hard. Big sharp rocks at a steep grade, tight switchbacks littered with disabled 4wd cars making it hard to choose a good line. I have a nice big (5-6 inch) purple bruise on my hip to remember my fall by. Yep, that section was hard in more ways than one! LOL But the rest was fun. I learned a TON, and really loved that body armor jacket I told you all about. My helmet and boots served well, too. For taking quite a dive into sharp pointy granite, only my knees and hips got banged up, so I think some stronger pants than just old jeans are in order for next time. Also rain gear. Man we got drenched while on the highway heading back. Ben said that I could get a different type of back fender, that has slim-line turnsignals (since I broke another one

) and will have more space for a bigger bag. I currently have just a tiny bag that only holds the tool kit and a cell phone. I need one that holds the tools plus rain gear, and of course a roll of duct tape for strapping dangling parts back on. (Onto the bike, not me! ... well, that's an idea too...)
So. I'm back in one piece albeit a little slower and a little more colorful. I think I feel like Bonnie after ballet. LOL Glad there's no more news than that.
