We really ejoyed visiting the barns & horses this stay. If you visit the barn near the settlement area you can see the draft horses that pull buggies and wagons. Also the horse that carries the headless horseman. There is an area of historicle photos and info and the musical calliope that was pulled by
a team of draft horses. There you can hear a sample of the music it played.
Disney World keeps about 90 horses to provide guests I think the same magical experiences Walt enjoyed with horses.
Did ya'll know Walt earned his first nickle for drawing a horse as a kid.
Just think, Mickey Mouse could have been Mickey the Pony.
mmm.. probably not.
We was impressed with the line up of trail horses saddled and ready to go at the outpost area barn. All different breeds. All there from different backrounds. All seemed happy to share a ride with you.
We watched horses & riders come & go several times. This seemed to be most riders first ride. Some had to be reminded to hold on to their brakes (reins). And for heavens sakes, put away and shut off your cell phone. These are real horses.
Some very large, part draft, & we were soo itchin to get on one, even for a slow relaxed ride on the property. Definately next time.
Friends we made.
BIG horsey!
Headless mans horse.
Trail horses.
We would have loved to shared a trailride with Walt.
Walt played polo.
Small ponies for little ones near the settlement.
Ok, enough horses. I'll ge off my hay bale!
