Oh, that's too bad! I've only been there once but we had a great table right in the middle of everything. (Plus I think Leisha kept winking at Donald , so we got a lot of characters headed our way )

I'll be interested to see what the character breakfast at the Beach Club will be like on the Sunday morning after the cruise. You guys are coming with us, right? I have to get a headcount at some point.

Who else will be around for breakfast at the Beach Club on the Sunday morning after we get back?

yes. sadly Robin and i will not be joining you guys on this cruise. Forgive me for "playing" with everyone these last few months, but we sooo wanted to cruise with this gang again, and reading along and commenting only reminded me of how much fun they are.
I'll be lurking along on your thread and looking for pictures when you get back.


If anyone out there is rebooking while onboard, may i suggest Oct 22, 2011.

Boy what a dfference. Today it's going to be in the 80's and up until Thur its going to be in the 90's here. What crazy weather.
Monday Nancy and I will be heading for York Beach for the day to maybe get the last few good ones in.

Hi all!
I've finally remembered to come on here, though probably the self discipline not to has meant I have got more work done!! I'm Wendy (a 41 year old High School teacher in Aberdeen, Scotland) and I will be cruising with my mum, Doreen (76 years old but really going through her 2nd childhood!). This will be our 11th DCL cruise so we will be Platinum which is exciting! We've done a lot of the Western cruises as they fit with my October vacation time best. I booked last Oct onboard for Cat 11 but decided to upgrade to a cat 10 for the 1st time and go for the guarantee status - still waiting for the stateroom assignment. We will be late dining.
Hope to see some of you onboard.

Im Ron, and Ill have my fiance, Danielle, and our kids,Ronald Jr, and Kaitlin , plus my future in laws with me.

The short vesion on her DD.

She scheduled for Oct 2nd thru Oct 15th.She leaving as soon as she puts the last guest off, and all of her materials have been loaded. From what Ive just heard, on another thread, she may be heading to Freeport. A diser ws onboard, recently, while there were some contractors taking measurements and going over plans, and they were all from Freeport. Another rumor, from someone that has also been onboard, was the crew was told they were going back to Va.Its 50/50.

Some of the things, Ive seen posted on the same thread,
Main engine replacement or rebuild. Apparently at least of her mains has major issues, and a complete rebuild or replacement is needed.

Repair/replace runing gear. That would be her props, rudders, skegs etc. She hit something that has never been determined, during her extended stay at CC in Feb. Since then, she had a noticable vibration while she is at sea. The engineering staff, and bridge crew were looking for a good rpm to run the shaft, to minimize the vibration. There was also diver activity noted, at KW, and St Kitts, and 1 other port on her next trip.

Moving the soda fountain on deck 9. It still going to be there, they are just going to put it in a spot to improve flow around it.

Clean and repaint her bottom, sea chests, and fuel and water bunkers.

Any SOLAS requirements.

Renaming Stack,(or Aloft-I forget which ship has which.Either way both ships are gettin the name change) and Ocean Quest to Vibe and Edge.The ships are keeping their names, the clubs names are changing.

What ever else that the crew/DCL has decided that she needs, such as carpeting, resurfacing of the pools etc.

truck1 - thank you so much for that. I thought from the main boards that it was mainly engines ect that the work would be on and that there wouldn't be any major outward changes to guest areas like there was during the last dry dock.
The only thing we have booked is the Mexican Cookery class in Cozumel. We've done Nachi Cochum in the past and it is fabulous. Grand Cayman we have done Captain Marvin's Stingray tour and that was great too - the last couple of times there it hasn't been nice weather at all. Last year in Key West we and our friends hired a 6 seater electric scooter which was a blast.

This year, a different for the Magic, since she has so many big issues, mainly her main engines and her running gear. Other wise, theyd look at them, clean them up and go with the manufacturer spec as far as refurb.

Drydock for any ship is a requirement 2x in a 5 year period. At that point, its mandatory that the ship comes out of the water, and they inspect all of the sea chests, fuel bunkers, water tanks, grey water system etc.They also do SOLAS upgrades to the navigation equipment, and to the ship itself. When they do put them high and dry, lines will take advantage of the down time to update/upgrade rooms, and public and crew spaces.Especially things they cant do while shes in service,like adding a second deck to the Cove Cafe like they did on the Wonder, or replacing a kitchen.

The other advantage, is that they can clean the bottom, then paint it, which in turn means more fuel economy, and lower operating cost, which means less that we have to spend to board her.
