Oct. 16-23, 2010 - Bring Back the Magic

What is everyone doing for pirate night? I can't decide if I want to get dressed up this time or not.

Still feeling crummy today which is making it difficult to motivate myself to get stuff done for this cruise.

It is a rainy day here.

We don't dress up much. Last year we bought T-shirts from our local AHL hockey team, the Portland Pirates. With black pants it was enough for us!

I love the report too!!!

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the updates, they were awesome. :worship: In 8 months we will be on her, we have an aft facing balcony and can't wait. Thank goodness we have this cruise between now and then.

Fantastic report Annika - thanks so much for sharing!

:thanks:
That was a great report. :lovestruc

Annichan - thank you so much for the wonderful report and pictures - so looking forward to our B2B cruises on the Dream next Oct.
Wendy

Awww thank you all! :flower3: It was fun writing it!

Don't know if you remember me or not.:confused3 DW and I were booked on this cruise with ya'll, but sadly we had to cancel.:sad2: Our cruising buddy, our granddaughter, was unable to join us so we cancelled instead of going without her. We planned on taking the Oasis of the Seas this fall, but we thought to ourselves, you know we really want to go on a Disney cruise. So we booked a back 2 back on Disney's new ship the Dream. Which brings me to the reason of writing. I saw your report on your recent visit to see the Dream being built. And, I just wanted to thank you for your report and sharing those GREAT photo's of the Dream:thumbsup2We are excited about going on Disney's newest ship The Dream, and can't get enough info on her construction. Your report was very well done, and we enjoyed reading and seeing your photo's. Again, thank you Annichan for sharing. Ya'll have fun on your up coming cruise, just a couple of weeks away now!!!:cool1::thumbsup2

Hey, of course I remember you! Great that you liked the report, though it is a pity you won't be on this cruise with us anymore!

In 3 weeks we will at Grand Cayman

Wow, what a BEAUTIFUL picture! I can hardly wait ... I need to finally start packing!

We are not planning anything for Pirate Night, I hope we won't be the sorry exception among lots of gorgeous pirates :rolleyes1. I had been meaning to buy us some pirate t-shirts but never found anything really nice, and now we already have so much we need to take along (after all, we will be away from home for 3 weeks! :cheer2:) that we have decided against any pirate costumes.

I hope you will get better soon - we have got quite awful fall weather here too, but the trees are starting to turn into nice colours.

I haven't decided about pirate night yet. I was thinking of ordering a dress for DD from Etsy, but can't talk myself into it when she has twice as many clothes for this cruise than she needs!

Well that interview was another waste of time. They want an a/p clerk. The ad was for a financial accountant. Not worth the gas $$. But the hotel discounts would be nice!!!
:( That stinks! Thanks for all the awesome pix you've been posting!

BTW, if any one is confused about the DDS acronym, it Disney Distribution Services.

I think that would be

"We Deliver the Magic" :rotfl:

Ok I have to make a confession.
I have never had a Mickey bar!!! :scared1: I'm going to have to remedy that!
I had my first a couple years ago. My friends took pix!

Order from room service, along with chocolate chip cookies. Bite off the ears and put the remainder between the cookies...ummmmmm
Yum!!!! Must surprise DH with this tip! Thansk!!!!

Something about a reduction in the port fees that DCL pays, and we got refunds due to it. Not sure how it works out on who gets them or doesnt.
DOn't see anythign on my cc. SInce I paid with points, though, don't know if it will happen. Love your magnet pix! Small world story for you. Met up with long time DIS-WISH friends this weekend at Notre Dame. Our freind has a freind from teh Brides board and well all had dinner Friday night. I mentioned I knew someone getting married on our cruise. She asked what cruise adn knows your fiance' from the board. Too cool! Sadly, I know her name is Jen but have no idea of her screen name. Still, it was a fun, small world thing!

They must of put Goofy in charge again. :lmao::rotfl2:

We have . . . .

FRIDAY's until we sail :boat:

YES, I finally got it!!!! After checking roughly half a dozen times a day for the past couple of weeks, I was just able to secure us Palo Brunch on the 3rd day at 11:30.
Yay!!!:banana: LOVE your Dream trip report! Had no idea you could tour like that or it was a Disney facility (at least temporairly) Too cool!

I have confirmed with my travel agent, who confirmed with Disney Cruise Lines, that everyone will be receiving a credit back due to a tax decrease. Double rooms will receive $31.32 and those with 4 to a cabin will receive $66.80. I don't know the amounts for 3 or 5 to a cabin, but probably somewhere around that amount! Disney has processed all the credits and if you haven't received them yet, you should within the next few days!
Thansk for the info. Seeing as I paid in point, not sure I'll get it. Maybe as a credit? It's not on my cc. Thanks tons for the info, though!

For all you DVC'ers. Not sure if you heard. Saw on the DVC thread that possibly starting in October we will no longer be forced to have all members of our party sign up for the dining plan for every day of your reservation. This is a wonderful change that I hope will actually happen. Half your party can be on the plan while the others are not and we can actually pick which days we want it and which we don't. Great for those day trips to Universal, Kennedy etc.....
Great news! Thanks!

I can't believe it's only 3 weeks away!!!:yay: I even had one of my oh-my-God-it's-time-to-leave-for-the-airport-and-i'm-not-even-packed-yet dreams last night :faint:
lol. I had a dream like that for my little getaway last weekend. I''m toast before th cruise! ;)

We went for a drive and had to stop and take a picture :goodvibes
Beautiful day today in my neck of the woods :sunny:

Awesome! BTW, I think you'll love your DirecTV! DO you know that if you are on a sports channel, you can press teh red button and get all sports scores? Also, I think the green button on TWC will get you local info.

OK, now I have a cold that I caught from my residents at work on Friday. So I finally get past birthday weekend and now this. I just hope everyone else stayes healthy and this cold doesn't turn into something else.

Gotta start working on my packing list. Everything is in the computer, I just modify it trip to trip.
Hope you are feeling better!

Well all our cloths are ready .There either lying on the spare bed in the grandkids playroom or in a closet. All we have to do now is pack
Yikes! I'm so far behind!

Sorry we won't be meeting you, but sounds like you have an awesoem new plan!

Pirate Night - I was going to buy T-shirts, so I googled Mickey Pirate Shirts. Found a link to make your own. So, I did! I will post pix soon.

I had forgotten you have RA too. THe two of you could keep Tommy in line :lmao::rotfl2:

Tommy puts me to shame :sad2: He has such a great attitude :goodvibes

I am dressing up. So are Tink & Toby:

I will be happy to loan them out to anyone that isn't dressing up and wants a little pirate companion for the night :lmao:

We have pirate T shirts!!!

You could at least get an eyepatch!

Hi everybody,

we spent the past weekend in Papenburg where we also got to tour the Meyer Werft shipyard and visit the Dream under construction ... It was great!

I have written a little "trip report" about it, so if anyone is interested, please have a look in this thread!

Have a great day,

Annichan

Fantastic pics, thanks for sharing :thumbsup2 I'm glad you had such an enjoyable weekend!

We are not dressing up more than a hat. My DH got this wild purple pirate hat at the Pirate Dinner show near Disneyland a couple years ago and he is going to wear that and I have Pirate Mickey earspirate:
We are going to MNSSHP on 10/11 so I think we might wear the same thing there.:yay:

We bought some pirate Mickey and Goofy ears on one of the first cruises we took. So, we usually wear those and red shirts. :) We also got those plastic swords from WDW. The servers liked our swords so much that we gave them to them at the end of the cruise. LOL! They have more opportunities to use them than we do! pirate:

I hope you feel better soon!

Yes that would be 1 of the trucks. Friend of mine works over there. I forgot the new logo on the sides. Thats a relatively new new one.

Im not exactly 100%sure on who got money back and who isnt, and the reason, only that there was a reduction in the port fees or taxes, I forgot which.

As far as Pirate night, we have some pirate shirts we got from the outlet mall that says POTC.

As far as the wedding, my fiance is not on the board, and her names not Jen. Its Danielle. Theres 3 couples getting married on the same cruise. 2 on the ship 1 at CC.
I honestly dont know who the other 2 couples are. We were wondering (no pun intended) if wed come aross each other during the crusie though.

Annika that was a fabulous trip report! And your photos are wonderful :)
I, along with about 60+ others, are booked on the Dream in September 2011. Our group is the "Fort Fiends" we are the usual campers at Fort Wilderness and we've decided to take a cruise together to do something different. I hope you don't mind, but I shared your link on our DIS thread and also our Facebook page. Can't wait to meet you in a couple of weeks

Thinking about renewing vows, but cant afford. Hoping to find Pastor that might be traveling on the ship and could spare a few monments to help surprize wife?

Jen was the one I met who thought she knew your fiance', I knew tha twasn't your fiance's name. (One of the few things I knew. :p) Obviously, she knws one of the other brides. I swear she said they were also getting married Tuesday, Deck 7 aft. Maybe they do them all in 1 day? :confused3\

Annika - I also shared the link to your report. It was great!

OK, so here's teh shirt I made fro dh. I swear I took a pic of mmine too, but there was some chaos involved. Mine's teh same, but I put a bow and 2 earrings to make it a Minnie pirate.

Hello all!
Just wanted to introduce myself and family. We booked this trip well over a year ago and can't believe it's almost here! My name is Meghan and my husband is Joe. We have a 5 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. We will also be traveling with my parents. We have cruised the Wonder in 2003 and 2008 but this is our first 7 day on the Magic. Not much more to add, but just wanted to introduce ourselves and say how much these boards have helped us prepare and how excited we are!
