I just booked our night before stay at the Cape Canaveral Radisson. One more thing checked off!

That's funny - we just booked our night before the cruise at the Radisson too. Never been there before but has some good reviews and the pool looks great! :thumbsup2

That's great, we have booked at the Radisson too, never been there either but the pool looked great, the reviews were good and we have also been able to get a good deal on the whirlpool suite :dance3:

Oh let's have a DIS meeting the night before the cruise, we would love that!

Have a great New Years Eve everybody,

Annika

Good morning and Happy New Year from snowy Maine! We stayed at the Radisson in Oct. with a bunch of Disers the night before the cruise. It was a very nice place - our room was huge, bigger than some Disney resorts I've stayed in! We used the shuttle to go to port and that was very good too.

Any suggestions on places to eat near there?

:confused3 haven't been around much the last week, I am trying to spend more time doing things other than staring at the computer. Doesn't look as though I missed much.

Yes has been pretty quiet but at least it's easy to keep up with everything. LOL
Hey question for everyone since we've never cruised before. What time do you think is the best time to get to the port?

early. I haven't done Disney but have cruised with RC and even with every predone thing ahead of time It still took forever to get on.

Ive done DIsney before, and Carnival out of Miami. Disney has boarding down to a science.

Where a line like Carnival is 1st come first aboard, Disney uses a numbering system similar to the airlines.
They issue you a number based on the time that you arrive at the terminal. You board when they call your number.
With that said, I usually show up at the terminal when it opens, and get checked in and the kids there bands for the clubs, get pics of the kids with the characters etc.We usually get a low number and once they start, were onboard in about 20 minutes.

Ive heard that if you are lucky and have the timing right between busses, you can pretty much walk thru check in and walk right onboard.

We always get to the port around 9:45. I know it is early but we like to be on the ship early. If it is your first time it is nice to walk around and see the terminal and some of the characters come out. Most on the boards say if you get there after 12:30 the lines have subsided and you can pretty much walk on. On our last cruise we were 2nd in line, and had number one for boarding. Once they made the announcement they were boarding we were on in less than 10 minutes.

If we are able to get our palo brunch reservation when the reservations open up we are going to board after 12:30, otherwise we will be there early and get to people watch. We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge the night before and we would like to enjoy the morning without being rushed.

Thats one of the major benefits to getting to the port early.Especially if they have not cruised before. After you get onboard, and have lunch, go walk around and see your home away from home for the next week.Personally its been several years since Ive been on the Magic and am going to spend time looking around remembering things and rediscovering a lot of hidden Mickeys.

I think I read somewhere that the magic will be in dry dock right before our cruise and we will be the first to sail on her after she is all spruced up. It will be interesting to see if there are any obvious changes.

Good Morning All

Just setting here with a cup of coffee and thought I would jump in and say Hi

I found the above article this morning and thought some of you would be interested.

I'm not too sure about it, I'm a little worried about leaving my 3 year old with older kids. I know there will be some her own age too. I hope there will be enough counselors to keep an eye on the little ones.

It does sound great for those that are traveling with multiple kids that would have otherwise been split into different groups. :)

Hmmm I have the same thoughts you do I guess. I sort of liked the fact that I knew my 3 almost 4 year old woudl be in a group centered on her own age. She doesn't get alot of social interaction anyway and I wasn't sure how she woudl do without there being bigger kids. Guess we will just see. Our philosophy at this point is to let her try it and if she hates it then we will do more with her and she won't have to stay in the kids clubs.

That's our plan too...try it but if she doesn't like it then we will spend more time with her. I wasn't planning on her spending the entire day there anyway, unless of course she refuses to leave because she is having such a good time. :)

also at this point SIL has decided to come with us so with the new baby I am hoping she will do some babysitting/ entertaining esp. at night. Just makes it less stressful with severe allergies and a new baby.

Yep.We have the first sailing after dry dock.Assuming they dont change it again. If Im not mistaken shes going in a little longer for a 10 year overhaul. If not she had it the last time.

Hi Guys! I know I have not been on latley. I am looking forward to the cruise. I hope i have noy missed much.

The board has been moving pretty slowly so if you scroll back it really shouldn't be too much reading. There have been a few interesting things to read up on though. Glad to "see" you around!
