bailey0308, the answer to your question about safety is VERY SAFE. The Oceaneer's Club only has one public entrance and you must check your child in and out. . There are other doors they can use to exit and some passageways that only they use. They always have someone on the desk checking kids in and out and a second person as "age anchor" who's job is to be a double check and nose counter. The young ones are in groups of no more than 15 per counselor with other counselors available as needed. When you first sign your child up, you choose a password that you must then use everytime you pick up your child. The kids wear name bracelets with their name, stateroom and lifeboat station on them so they can be easily identified
When they move between locations they count noses (match names to kids) both before and after they get to their destination.
When DD was working in the club she often mentioned the emphasis on safety. They also start every child off with a squirt of hand soap and take them to the sink to wash their hands as their first activity.
We toured the club on our trip in May and I was surprised at all the details that were geared to smaller kids. Kid sized sinks with "magic" faucets and magic soap dispensers (Infrared triggered). Kid sized toilets and appropriately sized chairs.
Also all the counselors have a college degree and at least two years experience working with kids. DD's degree is in Recreation Administration and many of the other counselors have degrees in Education or a related field. They also do criminal background checks and drug testing as part of the normal screening before anyone is hired.
And maybe most important of all, they LIKE working in the Club or Lab. Every one of the counselors enjoy what they do and they share that joy with your children.
