Can anyone share their experience with putting their kids in the Oceaneer's Club on the first night? How late are they open? My kids are 4 (twins) and I am thinking that hubby and I may eat by ourselves that night-we are scheduled for the late seating.

We put our kids in the club the first night (ages 3 & 6), and they did fine. We had our Palo reservation that night. We registered them that afternoon, and didn't stay long - by nighttime they really wanted to go - they had been looking forward to it all day. They watch movies at night, and they didn't want to leave when we came to pick them up.

They were open pretty late (at least midnight, possibly later) because we went to '80's night at Wavebands that night, and had a blast.

We put our DS (then age 5) in the club the first night of our first cruise. When we went to pick him up, he asked if he could stay and watch the end of the movie. My DH and I were thrilled and went back to Wavebands for a half hour. When we returned, he was the last kid in the club and LOVED getting all the attention from the CM's. I think it was about 1 am.

The first night the Oceaneer's Club can be a little more crowded than later in the cruise because everyone goes to check it out. This may be a problem for kids that are somewhat shy or uncomfortable in large groups. But most kids have a blast.

I would take them in the afternoon to register and check the place out, get their wristbands, etc. Makes it less hectic getting them checked into the Club when you and DH are trying to get to dinner.

We didn't put our kids in the first night, and they later told us that they wish we had. By the time they checked in the second day, they said a lot of the kids had already started forming "friendships." Of course, that didn't keep them from having a good time!

We put our kids in the first night, DS in club and DD in Lab. DD had an absolute blast the first night at the welcome party. DS only stayed for about 45 minutes before he wanted to leave, but I think he was just a little on the tired side.

DD would rather be there than anywhere else!

Our cruise they had a sail away party the first night - the kids loved it - and it happened over late seating. My kids also wanted to stay late and watch movies until they fell asleep (my son was less excited about this, but willing - my daughter wouldn't leave without a fight).

If I were in your shoes, I'd take the kids to Topsiders/BBB or Pluto's or Pinnochios around 6 or 7. They can eat with the club at six (at least, I think they can the first night), but that will make a long night in the club. See the show if you want, drop them off when you go to dinner. Pick them up afterwards - if they are ready to leave.

We were on the 9/25-turned 9/27 Magic, and did not board until about 8 pm. I rushed up to register dd-4 (by myself). At about 9, I asked her if she wanted to "see" the club so she coul see what she could do the next day. She took one look at it, turned to me and said, "Mommy, it's time for you to go. I'll be staying here. If I need you, I'll page you."

She paged me at 11:30, 3 hours past her bedtime. :earseek: She obviously had a blast, even that first night!
