Oceaneer’s Club Questions

I think I know the answer but double checking...we register for the Oceaneer’s club/lab but we don’t have to book specific times/activities there, right? We can sporadically show up and drop off as desired assuming it’s open and not an open house time? Is there ever a time where it’s full and kids are turned away? Thanks!

You are correct that you don't need to book times and activities in advance for Oceaneer's Club/Lab. You can pick up and drop off at any time except during Open House, and even during Open House at the Club, you can pick up or drop off from the Lab, and vice versa. Any kids who are in the area where Open House is about to start will be moved to the other area.

It is theoretically possible that an area could be at capacity and not accepting new admissions. However, I haven't heard of this happening in the past several years, and even when it did, the "shut-down" lasted less than half an hour until some kids left and others could enter.

When my children were in the club, I remembered asking something to that effect. I was told that as long as it's during the normal open hours, they don't turn away the children. They did mention that sometimes during Open House, it may get busy and they may ask to wait, but very rare. I would also assume if there is an issue with the club, they may close it down for repairs, but other than that, I was given the impression that they wouldn't be "full". In all the times we brought my children over, we've never been told to wait....even during popular activities.

I suppose this is the reason for ensuring they don't go over the total number of children per cruise. They don't really want turn any child away based on capacity.

I was thinking we’d maybe use it once or twice but as I’ve atarted researching past navigators and looking at the fun activities I’m realizing my kids are probably going to be asking to spend a lot more time there than I initially thought but I wanted to make sure I was prepared for the parameters!

On our first DCL cruise, I thought my children wouldn't spend that much time there. I was absolutely wrong. There were many times we had to insist that they go with us to do an activity or excursion. I couldn't really blame them, we went to an Open House once and it's like a theme park in there. And their activities were really fun for that age. My daughter really loved the pillow decorating and baking activities. They also like the video games which I wasn't thrilled about, but after telling them that they can't spend all their time on video games, they did spend time with other things.

I think this is the best of the youth clubs. Once they move to the Edge and Vibe, it's very independent and they have a lot less things in the club....basically hang out place...nowhere near the gravity of the Oceaneer Club/Lab.
