Does anyone know of a good fishing company at the NJ shore that will take us fishing out in the ocean? DH remembers doing it in boys scouts and would like to do it again. Any recommendation on a company we should go with?

What part of the shore? We have went several times to the Margate/Longport area and DH enjoys the fishing charters too. I think the one he has used is called the Jessie O, and I know they have a website so you could probably just google it for info.

Doesn't really matter as long as it is NJ.
Looking for a good recommendation.

I'm not a big fisherman, but we took the kids out on the 'Duke O'Fluke' out of Ocean City a few years ago and had a lot of fun, good friendly people and service.

Yes, we did Duke of Fluke too! It's a fun, shorter trip (3 -4 hours I think) for families with kids. The Jessie O is more of an all day out at sea for serious fishermen.

Do you want a charter or a head boat? The charter will be more expensive as it will be just you and whomever you choose to go w/ you. A headboat is cheaper, as whoever shows up at the dock when it's time to depart gets to go.

My DH and his buddy charter the Lady Fran out of Barnegat Light, and have been going at least 2 times a year for about 10 years now. If the captain didn't find them fish, they wouldn't continue to go with him.

I've had coworkers go out fishing a couple of times - no complaints. Here are the two companies they've used:

My company has done several fishing expeditions on Captain John out of Keyport.

Another friend from work took his stepfather out for his birthday on the Jamaica out of Brielle

took the captain john out of keyport - it was a good trip - also there are boats out of atlantic highlands - and highlands - what do you want to fish for - and at what time - there are day trips & evening trips - you can check out the town's websites to see what's listed -

Hi - I lived at the Jersey Shore all my life and I highly recommend the Norma-K fleet at Ken's Landing in Point Pleasant Beach. They have been in business for generations and have a few different boats/trips to choose from. They are very kid/family friendly and are family owned and operated. Good Luck!

I live in NJ and fish with adambomb sportfishing multiple times a year. The captain is a stand up guy who works hard to get us fish every time. He fishes out of Cape May,NJ

OP, thank you for starting this thread! I had been thinking of taking my dad fishing and this has given me some great ideas! :thumbsup2
