No, no, no....I *must* disagree. This place is pretty bad. It was WONDERFUL in its heyday back in the 70s. It is now a huge buffet. You can go into another part and eat off the menu--not sure how that is.

There are tons of little "mom-and-pop" joints that serve fabulous Maryland crabcakes. They are dives but have the best food. I used to go to a place called Leo's (up by the Fenwick/OC line) and they had good crabcakes, made to order fried chicken, good seafood platters. It was such a dive though.

The Crabcake Factory is good too, for crabcakes. They are on 120th Street (I think!!). Dough Roller is good for breakfast and pizza.

My cousin has a condo there and she lives there every weekend. She doesn't do the tourist stuff, but she will know of the good restaurants, so when I talk to her today I will get a 'refresher' on things since I haven't been in 2 years.

Aren't there 3 locations for Phillips with 2 offering a buffet? I"ve heard the one buffet is good and the other one isn't. We were planning on eating at the one on 141st. Which one do you have experience with?

I've been to both. About 10 years ago, these buffets were excellent. Now, much of the food is sub-par, but some of it is not too bad.

Bottom line is that it is edible, not disgusting. But definitely not worth the money they charge and I think you can do better somewhere else.

I hear good things about the Galaxy restaurant. Fager's Island used to be nice, don't know whether it still is. (I hate Phillips. Nothing is fresh, all frozen. Mass produced. Completely lost its charm. I used to work there in the "good ol' days.")

Ride bikes on the boardwalk in the early morning. Rental places are everywhere. It's great fun.

Don't forget mini golf. That used to be a tradition for my family.

This is so funny, we are going here on Monday, thanks for the great info and if anyone has anything else to add it would be fantastic, we plan on going to frontierland and the water park it came with our package, we are staying at the Howard Johnson on the beach, I hope it is as nice as it looks in the photos!

I've never been to the Galaxy but have always wanted to and it looks so nice. It got a good write up in The Washington Post a few summres ago. Fager's, as far as I've heard, is still a good place to go. But still very expensive and probably not kid-friendly.

Harrison's Harbor Watch restaurant is another great one. It is located at the inlet on the boardwalk. Great views while you are dining.

Just wanted to add 1 more place to eat. The Bayside Skillet is a great place for breakfast. Their Crab omlette is so good!

If you are traveling across the Bay Bridge on Rt.50, there is this great little dive across the Kent Island bridge. It is called Holly's. Wonderful food for a "dive". We used to live just down the street from there and would eat at Holly's 5 out of 7 nights.

We ate dinner at the Bayside Skillet a few years ago and it was really good. My dd had the seafood buffet and loved the crab legs.

Christine...I remembered it's Kohr Brothers. They have one in Rehoboth Beach, too.

Paul Revere Smorgasbord on the boardwalk is another horrible buffet. The first 2 years we ate there, we liked it. The last 2 times it was terrible. We stopped going there.

OMG....it is absolutely HORRID at that place! We ate...or should I say tried to eat...there once. I could not wait to get out of there...my dh and I kept looking around and noticed that there was not 1 person eating there that had a smile on their face. I don't know how the place even stays in business!!!

We also love the Bayside Skillet, which used to be the Crepe & Omelette Place. Changed the name, but the food is still delicious.

Wow! That was on my cousin's DON'T list and she was quite adamant about it. It does have a great view and I remember eating there many years ago. Just don't remember too much about it.

Every one has their opinion of places. Everyone that I know of that has eaten at Harrison's has loved it. This has been in the last couple of years.

This thread is bringing back lots of memories for me. We used to visit OCMD every year when I was a teenager. We always ate at Harrison's Harbor Watch and Jonah and the Whale...is that even still open? I think we tried an Italian restaurant and loved it; Mario's/Angelo's?

Tommy's has the best grease in town at 29th St. We love the cheesesteaks

Seacrets during lunch is fine for kids (during the winter)

Stay away from the Applebee's in West Ocean City

We enjoy Captains Galley at the harbor in West Ocean City

Thrashers is a MUST DO

Dolle's or Fischer's popcorn is also a MUST DO

Jolly Rogers has a great water park

Harbourside at the Harbour in West Ocean City has very good food

Galaxy is good but expensive

Reflections inside of the Holiday Inn at 66th is very good

Blue OX is still getting mixed reviews around here

I *had* to put a plug in for Blue Ox. My cousin's DD is waitressing there. She has tried a few of the dishes and says they are wonderful. Don't know how the overall experience is as a diner.

I ate a General's Kitchen many years ago and it was tasty then. Good to see things don't change.

And thanks for the Tommy's recommendation. I'm always looking for a good steak and cheese!

OMG, I am stunned to read Mario's is no longer open!! How could that be? O.C. will never be the same.

BTW, I have to second the suggestion of General's Kitchen. There is always a long line to get in that place, so go early and be prepared to spend some time waiting for a table.

Speaking of OC memories, anyone remember Back of the Rack? I saw some amazing bands in there way back when!!

My sister also worked at one of the crab houses in OC. Her real name was already taken when she started waitressing there so she became "Misti" for the summer. Remember those places were also BYOB back then!

I grew up going to OC every summer. I took my DS and DD there last year with my parents (DH couldn't make it). Most of my recommendations have already been mentioned...

Here's a second (or maybe third or fourth by now!) on Dumsers, Jolly Roger (DS LOVED the go-karts), and riding the tram on the boardwalk

Here are my additions to the list...

Layton's for breakfast...there are two locations, one on 16th and Philadelphia and one further north. This was a tradition every vacation...still liked them last year.

MR Ducks for sweatshirts or t-shirts

DS (7) loved Ripley's Believe It or Not

Going to the end of the boardwalk and doing the rides and silly games in the evening

Checking out the sand sculptures by the guy who does the religious ones near the boardwalk
