Ocean City, Maryland info

Oh my gosh, you guys! Thanks for the fabulous suggestions! This is exactly what I was looking for - insider's ideas, rather than the tourist booklets. This way you really know what is good and what isn't.

I am definately going to check out Fish Tale - sounds wonderful! My son will be 3 next week, so I think we are going to do Frontier Town even if the whole gang doesn't want to go. Chad & I are going to try to get out for a date night and check out a nicer restaurant.

My printer here at work is broken, so I am going to copy these replies into an email.

jenbarnwell - we are staying on the Boardwalk at 12th or 13th street starting Saturday (I forget exactly where - my parents made the ressie). Watch out for the redheads (me, DS and DSis)! :teeth:

Thanks again you guys!

We've been going to OCMD every year for the last 6 yrs. My husband used to go there on vaca with his family.

We LOVE Harrison's at the end of the boardwalk on the inlet for our "fancy" dinner each trip. Actually its very casual. Great view. Go early. It gets crowded. There's a parking garage under the building and they validate at the restaurant. And here's a few coupons:

Fischers popcorn, Kohr bros ice cream and Thrashers fries are all must do's. Thrashers serves the fries with vinegar and salt - amazing! My husband brings along is own small bottle of ketchup for himself and the kids.

Have fun!!!

maciec-just sent you a PM! :sunny:

I haven't read all the posts so maybe somebody already posted it but look here http://www.oceancity.org/main.asp for info on attractions. It helps me with my yearly trip planning.

If you get a rainy beach day head to Trimpers Indoor amusement park -- my DD loves the merry-go-round there.

Asseteague is also a favorite of ours -- their visitor center is kinda educational, the kids might learn something. It does cost to get in though, but the beach there is a nice change of pace from OC.

HTH have fun!

OMG, I am stunned to read Mario's is no longer open!! :( How could that be? :( O.C. will never be the same. :(

The owners wanted to retire and didn't have anyone to take over. I know it's sad. They had great steaks!

1984. 22nd Street. My real name is Kelley, but that wasn't my waitress name. I'm sitting in shock and dismay that I can't remember my waitress name. :guilty: :sad2:

I was there the summer of '85....I'd rather not say my real name on the board, - but my roomates' names were 617 Steph, & Toby (can't remember her number & that wasn't her real name). We were red bandanas that summer. I remember I shadowed a blue bandana named Laura when I started.

We lived in the Phillips housing at the restaurant, Skyliner #9. :crazy2:

Were you there in 1985 too?

Must agree with that! They are sooooo good! Also, Dumsers for some icecream, Bull on the Beach for a roastbeef sandwich, Fisher's popcorn is also good!

Another good one is Big Peckers!! Best, best burgers around they are so big you can not eat it yourself we usually order one and split it. Definitaly give this one a try but be prepared to wait the line is usually really long.
I think it is on 76 street.

My kids just giggle and giggle when we go past this place. :confused3

I just got back from OC last night. I would recommend a boat ride since there are kids...if you want a slow boat then try the Discoverer or Assategue Adventurer(you usually see the wild ponies)...if you want a speed boat then try the Sea Rocket or the OC Rocket.

I haven't been to Harrison's Harbor Watch restaurant in years but we always liked it. Our favorite place to eat is Waterman's Seafood on Rt 50. They have an all-you-can eat special that includes chicken, corn, hush puppies, steamed shrimp, MD crabs and snowcrab legs. We also found a great pizza place(thanks to the front desk clerk)-it is in the shopping center on RT50 where the SuperFresh grocery store is...it's called Miones...they have many different varieties of pizzas and dinners.

I also like Kohr's frozen custard. The Atlantic Stand has frozen cheesecake dipped in chocolate on a stick. I think that Dolles has the best taffy and Jessica's has the best fudge.

For those of you that need a "Koh'rs" fix, it is in some of the local shopping malls now. At least I know of two--one at Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax, VA and one in Potomac Mills Mall, in Woodbridge. Somehow, though, it's just not as good as getting it on the boardwalk!

I wish there were some around here. I get custard at Rita's, but they don't have the chocolate/peanut butter twist. The first time I ever tried it on the boardwalk, I swear I was moaning with every bite I took. :rotfl: My family was humiliated. They kept jabbing me and telling me that everyone was staring at me as they walked by. :rotfl: OMG, it's sooooooo good. What better combination than chocolate and peanut butter? In a custard yet? 19 more days....and counting.

I think I may go for just the day in mid-July. I need to get my custard/popcorn/french fry fix. I definitely have to wait until July/August to go though. I absolutely LOVE swimming in the ocean and the water is just too darn cold right now.

We're going down July 13 for 5 days. I cannot wait. We usually go in June and the water is pretty cool. I'm hoping it'll be really nice this year.
