OCD Princess Planners: Flights, Frights, Food, & a ToT Race, Too!!!

Tammie I'm so proud that you finished and were at least moderately happy with your finish! How the heck did you not end up with color on you?!?! And Ab end up with so much

Tammie I'm so proud that you finished and were at least moderately happy with your finish! How the heck did you not end up with color on you?!?! And Ab end up with so much

Because my dd and her friends were rolling in it (Literally) and standing and letting the painters douse them with the powder...then grabbing handfuls and throwing it on each other...I on the other hand was focused on running a race...guess who had more fun!

I am so happy for you and proud of you, Tammie!!! You are doing such an awesome job sticking to this. I KNOW you will be ready for 10 miles come October!!! Once you get these shin splints into some control... You are going to do AWESOME. I am so impressed... you are so much more committed than I was a year ago. You are so much further along in your training too! (this is how I know if you keep it up... you will be so ready.) I wish I could hug you right now!! I am so excited for you!

So... all training issues aside. Did you have fun? It sounds like you did! I think you looked awesome at the end, btw! Man... I never look that good after a race!!!

Also.. your recap made my day!! It was a long one and I loved coming home to read about your fun. Makes me anxious for my next race!! Course... I still don't think I am brave enough for a color run. ;)

Park Schedule
(momabaarjo/Tammie Posting)

Finally we have park hours for our entire trip, as well as crowd numbers and suggestions from TouringPlans and EasyWDW. With all that being said, we really are not following a lot of the suggestions, simply because we are trying to fit lots in around our schedules and needs (and thankfully we have low crowd numbers our trip)! Plus, we are really trying to get rid of the OCD in front of our name. I (momabaarjo) have spent 2 trips trying to do it all and realizing that I have missed the pure magic of WDW in the little things, and am trying really hard to make this trip be about spending time with 3 ladies who have become some of my best friends and enjoying the moment. I am really shying away from any “set” tour plans and just go with the moment at that moment…BUT we still need a plan for WHERE…

Saturday, September 28: Arrival Day for Ann and Tammie…no parks planned

ohio4.jpg

DisneyResort.jpg

Ann and I will be arriving within an hour of each other, so the plan is for me to wait and take ME with her around 7:30 pm. By the time we get to CBR it will be late and a very long day of traveling. Ann needs to disinfect the room and unpack, as for me, I plan to watch her!

Sunday, September 29: Magic Kingdom

978ed375.jpg

We (minus Ann) planned to wait to do MK together for the 1st time since the new fantasyland opened…but plans changed with Amy arriving later in the week and Ashley1 not wanting to do Epcot back to back days…so I am not waiting! Besides I really need a dole whip fix!

Monday, September 30: DTD/Epcot F&W…Arrival Day for the Ashleys

Florida2006Mydisc2395.jpg

epcot.jpg

The Ashleys will be arriving sometime this morning/early afternoon, until then Ann and I are planning to head to Epcot (or not, maybe a run) and once they call go back to CBR for their check in and then DTD for some lunch together, before heading back to Epcot for lots of F&W fun!

Tuesday, October 1: Magic Kingdom

IMG_0478.jpg

Today we do Magic Kingdom, no explaining needed!

Wednesday, October 2: Epcot F&W…Arrival Day for Amy

DSC00203.jpg

Amy arrives sometime today, so we are heading back to Epcot so she can get a little F&W experience.

Thursday, October 3: Magic Kingdom & MNSSHP

MNSSHP3.jpg

We had originally not planned to do MK and MNSSHP in the same day, taking advantage of being able to park hop with the MNSSHP ticket. But with needing to rest tomorrow night in prep for the ToT 10-miler and needing to find time for Amy to have lots of MK action we have to do MK today!

Friday, October 4: DHS & Running EXPO

127.jpg

PC020010.jpg

We will probably be parting ways with the Ashley’s today as they do the TSM Dash at DHS and the rest of us head to pick up our race packet for ToT 10-miler and check out the RunDisney Expo. We will meet up later tonight for dinner, something that we planned the very first time we talked about doing this trip together.

Saturday, October 5: AK, ToT 10-Mile Race, & Villian Party

2013-2-24031.jpg

ChrisDisney458.jpg

ParadeQueenofHearts.jpg

The morning will start early for us in AK as we take advantage of EMH-AM before departing ways with the Ashley’s who will stay in AK while the rest of us head back to POP for a nap. Then we will all meet up at Boma for a prerace early dinner, head back to POP to change and then to our corral area for the race. While we are running, the Ashleys will have more time for TSM and then we will all party with the villains till wee in the morning.

Sunday, October 6:Magic Kingdom…Departure Day for Everyone (well, right now…Ann loves “One More Disney Day” trying to get best priced flight)

castle.jpg

Sad, Sad, Sad day…not only are we saying goodbye to WDW but to each other as well. We are all hoping for one last stroll together down mainstreet before we go.

Run, Walk, Swim, Ride...
but Get Your Hiney Moving to WDW Challenge Update

mesquite_zpsc5cbe57b.jpg

48d8be0b.jpg

It has been awhile since I updated my progress towards moving my way towards WDW. After my run today, I have now moved 380 miles towards the Tower of Terror since January 1st! The last few weeks have been trying to get through the big cities of Dallas-Fort Worth and with todays run, I have made it through without any accidents or getting lost...:rotfl2:! I am now headed almost directly east towards that east coast, a few more miles I will merge onto I-20 were I will go through several states before heading SE!

It is bluebonnet time in Texas...so here is a view I have from the road of mesquite trees and bluebonnets!

ADR Schedule
(momabaarjo/Tammie Posting)

ADR day is April 1st...really we are now at 6 months out! :thumbsup2 Eating at WDW is big for all of us! So now that park days are planned, time to get to the serious business of ADR planning. We each started with a list of our favorites and wants…then we compiled them into a list and went from there. I am really happy with what we came up with, a mix of favorites and new ones, too! Here is what we came up with:

Saturday, September 28: Arrival Day

Dinner: Old Port Royale Food Court or Shutters

IMG_1294-1.jpg

Ann & I letting the mood/time dictate where we eat. We hopefully will have arrived and checked into CBR by 9 pm.

Sunday, September 29: Magic Kingdom

Breakfast:
Kona

WDW2008325.jpg

I am really looking forward to some Tonga Toast, last trip we ended up canceling our breakfast but my first trip I loved it! Ann has never been to Kona so this will be a first for her.

Dinner: Boatwright’s

P5040440.jpg

I have stayed at POR, but never ate at Boatwright’s. It is one of Ann’s favorite places and after taking about bread pudding (my #1 comfort food…my grandmother made the best) I was sold, in addition to remembering a TR picture of hers showing the prime rib. This will be a great way to prepare for the Cajun invasion the next day of the Ashley’s.

Monday, September 30: DTD/Epcot F&W

Breakfast:
QS but where ???

Lunch: Cooks of Dublin/WGPE/EoS

8d51336f.jpg

CookesofDublin_zps861f842d.jpg

de6b775e.jpg

So many choices in DTD! I think we have decided to hit each of these3 places and split a meal. LOL…

Dinner: Eat & Drink Around the World (Gorge on F&W and WS Quick Service)

DSC00203.jpg

Our afternoon and evening is going to be all about eating & drinking whatever we want…so looking forward to this day!

Tuesday, October 1: Magic Kingdom

Breakfast:
Crystal Palace

132CrystalPalace.jpg

We are hoping to score a before park opens ADR at CP. We have all eaten here for breakfast and love it. I make Pooh’s Puffed French Toast for my children all the time. I am dreaming of breakfast laszna. Really the food is 2nd to getting into MK and great pictures of an empty Mainstreet and hub!

Dinner: The Wave

wave_zpsd8550d33.jpg

Ann has eaten here, but none of the rest of us have but after seeing her last TR this was high on our list! Ashley G. wants to do some Deluxe Resort hopping so we are going to eat at the Contemporary Resort.

Wednesday, October 2: Epcot

Breakfast:
1900 Park Fare

1900-park-faire.jpg

I am hoping that 1900 PF will be redeemed on my list of restaurants at WDW. Right now, it is DEAD BOTTOM of places I have eaten at WDW. We had an awful experience (food, service, atmosphere) on our family trip (Cinderella’s Royal Ball-Dinner). However, I am willing to try it again…Strawberry Soup, Bread Pudding, and Lobster Eggs Benedict. This is a chance for Ashley to see another Deluxe Resort.

Dinner: Via Napoli

600-Via_Napoli-exterior.jpg

I know what you are thinking, Epcot F&W. But this really is a MUST DO on my list…on my Christmas trip I kept hearing about the amazing Zeppoli and when we ate there…no Zeppolis (they don’t make them during peak crowd levels). So we are going to gorge ourselves at F&W and visit Via Napoli…celebrating Amy’s arrival over some Sangria, a slice of pizza, and zeppolis!

Thursday, October 3: Magic Kingdom & MNSSHP

Breakfast:
Grab & Go
MK has EMH-AM so we are taking advantage.

Lunch: Be Our Guest

BOG_zps6bc1624f.jpg

We all have BOG on our list and we hope to get in line right after it opens for QS lunch. No need to tell you why…everyone wants to see the Beast’s Castle. We really wanted to have dinner here, but there just is not time in our schedule for dinner.

Dinner: Grab & Go
We have just planned to QS in MK during the party…not wanting to waste any time of the party!

Friday, October 4: DHS & Running EXPO

Breakfast:
Grab & Go

Lunch: Grab & Go

Dinner: Ohana

Ohana---Sign2.jpg

This is probably the meal we are most looking forward to. We have all eaten here, but Ohana means family and we have become family. This was the first ADR we planned together and has remained a must!

Saturday, October 5: AK, ToT 10-Mile Race, & Villian Party

Brunch:
Tusker House

100_1441.jpg

I have not eaten here, and I am not sure who else. But we thought a good pre-race breakfast/lunch was a must. I am excited about trying TH out!
!

Early Dinner: Boma

Boma.jpg

I am have been trying to get to Boma on every trip and never seemed to make it. Ann thought this would be a great place to get the much needed protein for our bodies before the race.

Sunday, October 6: Magic Kingdom/Departure Day

Breakfast:
Kouzzina

81909004.jpg

This is a post race breakfast tradition for Ann. I am excited to try it out…Kat Cora is a favorite celebrity chef of mine.

Well.. not so much the protein. I mean, there are meats...your typical "cut from a hunk" kind of buffet meat. However, I think the hummus is a good protein and eating that on some pita bread... not such a bad idea. Throw in some of the soups and rice/mealie dishes... it seems to work for me. However... I do, in all honesty, wonder if I am not a tad off in my thinking... I hope it won't be something to set off everyones tummies. I will admit... I found one thing I had for dinner last month to be quite offensive to my tummy... OH MY!! it expanded in my tummy (it was a type of cracker) I instantly felt so full! I will just make sure not to eat so much of that next time. It was so yummy though, but as I drank water... :confused3 Yeah... just a wee bit uncomfortable. ;)

I love hummus! I need that cracker right now!

I promise not before 8 am you time...I try really hard to remember! Unless you text me first or I see you on FB...

Week 1: Galloway 5K Training
Complete

I decided to bump it back down a notch and really get into this interval training thing...walk/run. Today was my first long day (really not long if you consider that I have been doing 2-2.5 miles until this date), it was 1 mile of interval run/walk. Let's do a little recap...

Wednesday Day #1: Not to bad, felt really good actually. I little pain in my shins (forgot the compression sleeves). I ran a 11.4 min/mile pace over almost 2 miles. I was shocked when I saw the pace I ran....:thumbsup2

Friday Day #2: Remembered the compression sleeves for the shins, but the pain was back pretty bad...not completely what it was before but enough that it had me hurting...but my pace was still around 11.4 min/mile. Wow, could this really be...:thumbsup2

Sunday #3: Oh my, went out after Easter Dinner with the in-laws, such a pretty day no wind and lower 70s. I was really excited to see what I would do on a longer run...haha, I had run longer the 1st 2-days of the program...but have to remember days #1/#2 of each week are the same throughout the 8 week program, day #3 each week will build up to just beyond a 3K and the taper back down as race day gets closer. Put the compression sleeves on and headed to the park, thinking I got this...a piece of cake...WRONG! The shins were back in full force, ugh! But I pushed through and finished within a 13 min/mile pace. :worried:

I guess I am just going to have to push through this...going to try to get in this week to the run store (although doubtful I will make it there...busy week) and see about getting refitted...maybe it is the shoes. I have decided that Wednesday-Friday-Sunday are going to be my run days, that gives me almost 3 full days to recover after a long run on Sunday.

Costume Input

Now that we have basic plans and adrs ready to go let's think about costumes...here are 2 choices I have come up with.

Choice 1: Apron
I could do a basic apron design like this, but make it a litte more frilly using tule and sparkly material (more on the order of the snow white one).

Choice 2: OCD Princess Mickey Head Shirt and Tutu
I was thinking we could do our OCD Princess picture like the mickey head shown in this set and then have our names put under the mickey head...t-shirt would be matching colors...Belle would be yellow. Then we could pair it with a tutu like this.

In my late night FB reading...I found this

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/eat-to-the-beat-concerts/

And low and behold, who is playing October 2nd...the night we plan to be in Epcot...AIR SUPPLY.

air_supply.jpg

Now I am sure the Ashley's/Heather will have no idea who this even is, but Ann-Amy-Susan-ME certainly know who this band of the 80s is. Can you say rollar rink skate music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRT_zfqZztM&list=RD02haS9PVVbDCU

I LOVED AIR SUPPLY! We now have something besides food to look forward to in Epcot.

Cause for Celebration
ADRs Made

P1000835.jpg

I made our ADRs and we got everything we wanted within a 30 minute time frame of what we had planned...even that hard to get Crystal Palace before MK opens! Looks like we will be walking down an empty main street...:woohoo:

Congrats on the adrs! As for the outfits, which gives your legs the most freedom to move?

I am up for whatever you all want to do regarding the costumes for MNSSHP.

:cool1: So glad the ADRs are made!!

And... shoes..... yes, Tammie... I think you need to get fitted for shoes. Do you know that in switching shoes I shaved a minute per mile off my pace????

But lets talk shoes... if you don't go in. There are minimalist, neutral and stability. Stability come in different "degrees" There is this idea and thought that if you tend to overpronate AT ALL you need stability shoes. I think one needs to be careful in wearing anything that MAKES you do anything (like in the case of a stability shoe where it forces you to supinate when you tend to overpronate)

Look at your shoes you wear now...how is the tred worn? Outside? Inside? Both? Is it even? I tend to hit with the outside portion of my foot and come out of the stride on the inside near my poor bunion. So I was advised to get some stability... which took my initial strike and forced me to the outside even more...causing me a perineal tendon injury.

Personally, I lean toward a minimalist shoe. I don't like my feet feeling heavy..or hot. I like a low heel to toe drop. (remember how I roll from outside heel to inside toe?) It makes for a smoother run. My dh likes a neutral shoe with a lot more cushion. (they would be way to heavy for me)

I guess the point to my rambling...is while I do think you should get fitted... it will still come down to a personal preference. You just need to get a good shoe...one that is meant to take the abuse of running. I know I started out in a discounted...clearance rack avia. They fit fine and were comfy...enough. Didn't have any trouble until my mileage started to get over 2 miles. Things you can wear for 2 you can't necessarily wear for 10. (I can attest to that even in other running gear... lets just say I should have applied some body glide  when I chose to wear and ill fitting garment... now I am paying the price)

Thought I should stop back by since I will now be joining you guys on a couple ADRs & possibly meeting up at MNSSHP & expo.

I love Ohana & I am very excited to finally try Boma.

Tammie, it sounds like you are doing great on your training! You will be a rockstar come October!!

 It will be so fun to have you along! I hope Boma works well for you as a prerace meal. I know we had it the night before last years race... and it was good... but that was the night BEFORE... not the night of. Last year, I had a lunch at PM and that was it. Now I am second guessing.... maybe this was the wrong choice? This was the meal the night before the phm too... and that was a 5pm dinner when I had to be up at 3am for the race. Yeah.. maybe something lighter would be better. I had not thought that this will put us eating a large amount of food just 5 hours before the race. I think it needs to be more like 12. :confused3

And I agree!! Tammie is going to be a rockstar come October!!! Last year this time, I was no where near as far along as she is...I while my time was not the best... I totally survived and I do think I could have done better.
