DH gave me a trip to Harry Potter World for mother's day!!! YIPPEE!!! Well, I invited my friend and her son to go with us. I don't drive much (long story), and was concerned about getting from the airport, etc. Plus, our boys are good friends. We will fly down, stay at our timeshare. We will only be there for a couple of days. Well, I can't get my friend to give me dates. I am worried about timeshare availability, as well as booking airfare. We are going sometime this summer. I am a stay at home mom, so the dates don't matter to me. Driving me crazy not being able to start working on it!! I almost regret asking her! Thought the other OCD planners on here would sympathize! :rotfl:

I hear ya! We're looking at planning our October 2012 (yes, a year and half away) vacation and I'm trying to get our timeshare website access fixed. I can't even book the one we want until about 6 months before but I'm already at worry stage, oh, let's say, orange.

Just know that you'll be able to find SOMETHING.... maybe as motivation, you could show your friend some photos of your top choices and dangle them out there: "if you give me dates now, I might be able to score this nice condo.... if you wait too long, we'll be in a cardboard box by the road"

I definitely can sympathize. The only suggestion I can make is to sit down with your friend, talk to her about it and give her a deadline to let you know dates.

Have you considered there may be something else going on with her that will make the trip hard to do and she is reluctant to talk to you about it?

She's only had a few days to think about this, right? Give her some time, like a week, and then check in to see how she's doing. If she works, has other kids, etc., these things take time. It will all work out. Have a great trip!

I've verified that she is totally on board to do it. Her husband is a pilot and gone a lot, and she has a lot more coordinating to do than I do. I get that. She is leaving her daughter at home to do this with us. I know she will get with it. I am just not patient! ;) My timeshare company has two properties in Orlando, one is closer to universal. I know I can trade, but I don't want to have to pay housekeeping fees or exchange fees(which I don't if I stay in network). So hoping we can find the right availability!

Spend this time researching Universal. :)

I'm sure you used the term jokingly, but just in case you don't know, Wizarding World is just a "land" inside of the Islands of Adventure park.

This summer will see at least one massive HP convention, I think it's called Leakycon. That's filling up hotels and is going to fill up WWofHP. If you find yourself there during that time, you are going to have problems getting in, especially since you're staying offsite and won't have access to Early Entry to WWoHP.

Spend time on the Universal forum here!

And consider, especially since you'll be splitting the cost with non-family, staying onsite, as the benefits it gives are quite terrific, especially for quick *summer*time visit.

I'll look into that, thanks! I have started looking through the forum. I am aware that Wizarding World is just a part of IOA. We were there a couple of years ago when it was under construction. When is the convention? I have tried to find that, but haven't been able to. Thanks for the advice!

LeakyCon is July13 as the park date. You should probably expect that fans will be in the parks at least 2 days prior and after.
