Hiding under my desk, so I don't get hurt.... Internal Auditor

LOL - I was an internal auditor (a good one, too - ya know what I mean) until I became a SAHM. Before that I was the dreaded sales tax auditor!!! I would do the stuffy-suit auditor thing during the week and teach skydiving on weekends. Quite a good outlet for all that built up weekday hostility!

I am a Behavior Intervention Specialist at a therapeutic day school. I do just about everything. You know that small disclaimer at the bottom of most people's job description that says other duties as assigned. Well, I seem to have gotten the short end of the stick. I do just about everything one can think of doing in a school setting. I do whatever has to be done to make sure the school continues to run as smoothly as possible. However, my main job is to deal with behavior issues and deal with crisis management, ( and believe me when dealing with a population of students that over half have some sort of behavior disorder there are numerous crisis every day). With that being said, I still love my job, most days any way.

I'm a SPED teacher, and I think any job (teacher or otherwise) in a school district has that disclaimer....

"other duties as assigned"

Just make sure the person packing the parachute wasn't aware of your 'real' job.

I've always wanted to go skydive. Need to work on the missus' attitude about that...

I think we all have that 'little' disclaimer. At my office, we rotate trash duty - realistically that means we each do it one week every three or four months. That's by far the least popular of our office policies - I personally think it humbles you (speaking as an owner). As long as it truly is everyone (NOBODY gets out of it) in the firm, nobody's britches should be too big to do it... We're talking paper trash mostly, no dangerous chemicals. One big bag every couple of days, unless we're on deadline - then there's pizza & takeout boxes. We recycle cans & bottles and most of our paper. Our cleaning service is such that we get full cleaning every other weekend - the rest of the time we fend for ourselves. Yes, the policy is in the employee manual and is stated at interviews, so nobody can claim to be surprised.

I am an ultrasound technologist--specifically breast. I love my patients and what I do, but I could live without working with 20 other women. My passion is American Sign Language. I aspire and am studying to become an interpreter. My ultimate goal is medical interpretation.

One of my good friends (he & his wife are also DISers - hey, "StitchisourHero"!) is mostly deaf. Both of his parents are deaf. He acts as interpreter for them alot. Sign language fascinates me. Medical interpretation - man, that's really cool. Go for it.
