Great thread idea.

I'm a family practice physician. Been in practice for about 12-1/2 years. We also do drug and alcohol testing for various companies. We also do travel medicine and are an authorized yellow fever vaccination clinic and we provide medical services for the maritime industry at ports along the Delaware River in Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

DW was a SAHM until last year when she became a secretary at our synagogue.

I used to work for a large petroleum retailer which built truck stops (they called 'em Travel Centers). I worked there for 6 years and in that time they built in 40+ states. So there's probably one of "my" buildings near you, too. (Although R.I. is one of the few states we didn't build in...)

I'm a teacher.

2nd grade public school teacher by day...........my class is the one where they put most of the ESL, inclusion, gifted, and any other "different" types.................which usually just means kids that don't learn the curriculum on the NCLB timeline. They're with me because I "get results" and because somehow I got the reputation of handling the "difficult" parents well. Heck, I just try everything and anything until something works, and ask the parents to help too. Funnily enough, I think I may be one of the difficult parents myself now that my son is in a different school. I've had to communicate several times, about something I disagreed with........not sure what they think of me over there.

By late afternoon, I'm a 5th grade science/4th grade writing tutor (in other words, the tests those grade levels are having trouble with) through a program in our school because ours is a low socioeconomic area. I teach between 15-22 second graders, and between 20-30 4th/5th graders.

By summer, I have taught Pre-Kindergarten......gave it up when I had my little one, but I hope to take it back again this summer......I taught Pre-K for 9 years before second, and I just can't stay away.

By evening, school breaks, and on weekends, I'm mommy, and that's just teaching of a different sort.
