We returned this past Friday from a marathon vacation. A 4-night DCL cruise, followed by 4 nights at BWV and 4 nights at VWL.

We are new owners at BWV and this was our first stay there. We bought some points after staying at BCV last January and deciding we wanted something in the neighborhood.

We had a 1-bedroom, boardwalk view #3009, which meant we were down at the end of a hallway.

I now know what people mean by the looong hallways. I kept kidding around that I thought our room was technically in the Dolphin.

It was a very nice unit, with a good view. We were able to see Illuminations each night. I also like the hubbub of the the Boardwalk and was quite pleased with the quietness of the unit when the balcony doors were closed.

I really liked the Boardwalk and for the area, think I prefer it to BCV. BCV seems to just have SAB to recommend it, which doesn't make much of a difference to us. For our tastes, we preferred the decor of BWV both the building and lobby to that of BCV.

After our 4-nights at BWV we moved to VWL. a 1-bedroom, #3536, not as high a floor as we would have liked, but loved the view of the trees and the feeling of remoteness.

The decor also really suits us and we find the dark tones quite calming and relaxing.

The world just melted away when we arrived at VWL. It was of course beautiful as always and there were musical and choral groups in the main lobby throughout our stay.

We did notice that the 1-bedroom at BWV was slightly larger than that at VWL and they have not upgraded to the new sofas yet at VWL.

On this trip we did dine around at other resorts and decided, for us anyway, that VWL was a great location. We were able to get to the Contemporary via launch, and found that the short hop over to MK either via bus (fastest) or launch (nicest) made it quick to pick up a bus for another resort. We made it over to AKL in about 35 minutes. We thought this was a bit better than the Epcot neighborhood, which required either a bus to DTD, or a walk to the front of Epcot or walk or boat to the Studios. The only meal at a close-by resort we had while we were at BWV was breakfast at Cape May.

I suppose it is all pretty much six of one, half a dozen of another, because while at BWV we had quick access to Epcot restaurants.

I also did notice that perhaps because DVC comprises have the resort that the CMs were more finely tuned for DVC members. Lots of welcome homes all the time. This does not happen at VWL, perhaps because it is so tiny by comparison. But again, we also really like VWL because it is so small.

We stumbled across gift exchange parties in the Iron Spike room several times. It gave the place a nice and cosy feeling in addition to the fire.

For us, we're happy with the two resorts we call home.

We did a similar trip at the beginning of December, only not so many nights. Also new owners at BWV, we did the 4 night cruise and then 4 nights at BWV in a one bedroom. We had 5011 and I didn't think the walk was all that bad. The walks in AKL to the last buildings are MUCH longer than the BWV walks!

We loved both the cruise and the BWV. We're also owners at VWL but won't get there for our first real trip until April.

I have to agree with you, it was long, but wasn't that bad. We walked to the Studios and kept wishing when we walked back that there was a keyed entry at that end of the building, so we didn't have to walk back to the main entrance. Maybe there is another way into the building and we just didn't know about it?

I'd be perfectly happy to say in #3009 again at BWV.

We're also owners at VWL but won't get there for our first real trip until April.

If you haven't stayed at VWL before, you're going to love it. A completely different experience to BWV, because it feels so remote. It always surprises me when we take the boat to the Contemporary, because it is such a short distance. Yet because of the surroundings and themeing VWL always feels so far away from everything, which we love after a busy day at the parks.

I was there the same time as you although I checked in a couple days earlier but left on Friday as well. I was in a 1-bedroom, unit 3032, so I was just down the hall from you. And yes, I now understand the reference to the long hallways as well. Last year, I stayed at VWL and I enjoyed it more than this year's BWV stay but the BWV atmosphere was fine as well.

what a great way to spend the holidays. Glad you had a wonderful trip. We love the VWL. Thanks for the nice report

I am a bit worried about the fact the the BWV is in the middle of the action. I tend to get very caught up in the action and have a hard time relaxing. This is why I don't stay at the Poly anymore :) The most relaxing trips we've been on we stayed at the AKL and the POFQ.

I love the lobby and courtyard of the Wilderness Lodge but just cannot get into the rooms. However I doubt there is another resort that does the holiday decor and feelings as much as it does.

Thanks for the trip report!

iankh I'm glad you guys had such a good time. I love the Boardwalk, and there are keyed doors but sometimes I can only find them by going out them first. They look like the back side of a store or restaurant and need to see them first from the exit point of view <G>

Thanks for the trip report :yay:

Thanks for sharing your wonderful vacation with us! I cannot wait to go back to BWV in a few weeks!
