We returned this past Friday from a marathon vacation. A 4-night DCL cruise, followed by 4 nights at BWV and 4 nights at VWL.
We are new owners at BWV and this was our first stay there. We bought some points after staying at BCV last January and deciding we wanted something in the neighborhood.
We had a 1-bedroom, boardwalk view #3009, which meant we were down at the end of a hallway.
I now know what people mean by the looong hallways. I kept kidding around that I thought our room was technically in the Dolphin.
It was a very nice unit, with a good view. We were able to see Illuminations each night. I also like the hubbub of the the Boardwalk and was quite pleased with the quietness of the unit when the balcony doors were closed.
I really liked the Boardwalk and for the area, think I prefer it to BCV. BCV seems to just have SAB to recommend it, which doesn't make much of a difference to us. For our tastes, we preferred the decor of BWV both the building and lobby to that of BCV.
After our 4-nights at BWV we moved to VWL. a 1-bedroom, #3536, not as high a floor as we would have liked, but loved the view of the trees and the feeling of remoteness.
The decor also really suits us and we find the dark tones quite calming and relaxing.
The world just melted away when we arrived at VWL. It was of course beautiful as always and there were musical and choral groups in the main lobby throughout our stay.
We did notice that the 1-bedroom at BWV was slightly larger than that at VWL and they have not upgraded to the new sofas yet at VWL.
On this trip we did dine around at other resorts and decided, for us anyway, that VWL was a great location. We were able to get to the Contemporary via launch, and found that the short hop over to MK either via bus (fastest) or launch (nicest) made it quick to pick up a bus for another resort. We made it over to AKL in about 35 minutes. We thought this was a bit better than the Epcot neighborhood, which required either a bus to DTD, or a walk to the front of Epcot or walk or boat to the Studios. The only meal at a close-by resort we had while we were at BWV was breakfast at Cape May.
I suppose it is all pretty much six of one, half a dozen of another, because while at BWV we had quick access to Epcot restaurants.
I also did notice that perhaps because DVC comprises have the resort that the CMs were more finely tuned for DVC members. Lots of welcome homes all the time. This does not happen at VWL, perhaps because it is so tiny by comparison. But again, we also really like VWL because it is so small.
We stumbled across gift exchange parties in the Iron Spike room several times. It gave the place a nice and cosy feeling in addition to the fire.
For us, we're happy with the two resorts we call home.
