Hi all! We'll be heading to wdw fairly soon. Trying my darndest to get my kids to branch out and watch some stuff on dis+ that's not toy story or the incredibles to get more familiar with characters they will likely see...its not going well.
Anyway they are into some more obscure characters and wondering if there are any calvalcades, distanced experiences or attractions where they might be located.
-Phineas and Ferb (boo the EPCOT game being gone)
-Baymax
-Ralph or Venelope
-Forky
-Bluey (real long shot there)
-Edna Mode

If your lucky you might see Ralph, Venelope or Edna as those had greats before the closure. They discontinued Baymax meet and the others aren’t at WDW usually (seen Phineas and Ferb in Parades preclosure, so those could be possible depending on the schedule as things continue to open!).

if they are a fan of Universal characters it could be an option to hop over there for one day. They have a brand new meet and greet that my kids loved with Kung fu panda, Madagascar and trolls. They also have spongebob, marvel superheroes and others.

Not sure how old your kids are but I tried to do the same thing years ago. My girls loved Little mermaid and I couldn't wait for them to see her...well they hated her in person. Our one dd thought the "real"characters were to strange but couldn't wait to hug the Grinch(universal). Kids are crazy!!!

I can't comment on the current state of character availability but will say we did the same thing with our kids. There are all kinds of things especially in MK related to the older movies. We watch a lot of family movies. Sword and the stone is a fave - the kids loved finding the "stone" in MK! So don't necessarily focus on the character aspect, think about what's in the parks too. Others we have enjoyed:

Swiss family robinson (treehouse)
Little Mermaid
Animated Alice in Wonderland (teacups, England in Epcot)
Robin Hood (England in Epcot - we went during the Arts festival and they were in a mural on the side of a building!)
Three callabreros
Cinderella
Beauty and the Beast
Snow White
Mary Poppins (she used to pop up in Epcot)
Country Bears (The movie is terrible IMO but the kids liked it)
Tom Sawyer/huck finn
Up! (For some reason this is all over AK, the discovery badges make a lot more sense if they know who the characters are).
Documentary - Animal Kingdom vet show (can't rem exact name)

Also depending on the age of your kids (mine are too little) - pirates of the carribean, haunted mansion, jungle cruise, indiana jones, avatar

i'm probably forgetting some.
