Obopay questions

So many questions.....
Did anyone sign up for Obopay and activate the account in order to get the $10 sign up bonus? If so, have you had any success in getting your sign up bonus from Obopay? What is the best way to go about getting your sign up bonus $ from them? I have activated the Mastercard debit card for this account, but I have not tried to use it. Has anyone tried to use their debit card WITHOUT adding additional funds to their Obopay account?

You go into your account and order the prepaid card. I did that, and got mine within, oh, 5 business days?

"As our way of saying welcome aboard, we are adding $10.00 to your Obopay account. .....you can request for your free Obopay Prepaid MasterCard® which allows you to .... use it at any store that accepts MasterCard®."

Go into your account and look around for the "application" for the prepaid card.

I am a newbie and have only been doing this for a week now, but I agree--I haven't done any offers that ask for a SSN.

What do you veterns say about giving SSNs?

Obopay is the first thing I've given out my SSN for. Everything I've read has been positive, and $10 free is always good!! I received my card in the mail today, just activated it, and used it to pay towards a Disney gift card (Ordered a $50 gift card using $49 disney reward dollars and $1 obopay). Seemed to go thru with no trouble - I'll let you know if it doesn't end up working!

I don't think you can get the $10 into your own bank account. The bank thing is so they can verify you are who you are, and that you're not a scammer. So they make a little charge, you tell them what it was, and that verifies you.

Personally...I was on the SR forums, and one of the bigger earners there, who has watches on her credit, gave her SS and has had no problems...I decided to trust. (plus, my credit history can't even get US credit, let alone someone else)

So I verified using that, and it worked out well.

Looks like I signed up with them June 10, then it took a couple days for me to realize they don't just send the pre-paid card, you have to order it, received it VERY quickly, and just last night used some of it on an online order.

I did it that way. I linked my bank account to it and after the verification process (they make 2 small deposits), then I had the $10 transferred to my bank. Not sure it was faster, but I didn't want another prepaid/debit card.

Nope. I've had no problems at all with them or with my bank account. I did not close the Obopay account, though. I didn't see a reason to.

Yeah, wish I could go smack my 20-something self around when I was messing it all up... But she just wouldn't listen to my future 30-something-year-old! At least my hubby had a brief first marriage to blame (wife spent 20K on his cards in 9 months of marriage then took off), but my stuff is ALL mine!

The mastercard I got has $10 on it. If I do the phone add-money thing, I do believe (haven't done it) that it would go onto that card.

Anything you add to the card is available on the MC. I have added money several times because I use it for offers and for shopping with companies I dont really know well. I just go online and do the transfer from the account that I had added. The money is transferred and available immeditely. I keep a small balance (10.00) on the card all the time and if I see I am going to need more I go do the transfer and then go do the offer or shopping I need to do. You pay 1.5% for the transfer but considering I never transfer more than 20.00 or so at a time we are talking about .30. Very nice to not have to worry about unwanted charges or stolen credit card info. I even got one for DH and I transfer his weekly spending money to his card. He wont spend it as quickly as cash and yet he cant go crazy like he was with the debit card. If he gets stuck and really needs money he can call me and I can go online and transfer him more money immediately to use.

You're the one I trusted regarding the SS#.

That's a GOOD idea about the spending money for DH. I hate for it to sound like my hubby is on some sort of allowance, but he does tend to go wild while at work, and then tends to forget to tell me or give me the receipts (I'm in charge of $$ because of a massive mess-up last year)...I "let" him have a Starbucks giftcard for this pay period and that went well, so maybe the prepaid Obopay card would work well for him! Thanks for the idea!
