It is a very good and very old strategy to keep his name in the news. You will see McCain being coy the entire week of the Dem convention.

I think it's possible. They've made a big deal of the text message thing. But leaks, which are pretty commonplace in situations like the VP naming thing, have the potential to spoil that whole drama. So, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they'd plant some stuff, to confuse and continue the guessing game.

Actually I think it is pretty standard practice on both sides for the campains to be very quiet during the other sides convention, you won't hear a whole lot out of Obama the week after because of the Republican convention.

The pundants on both sides will be out in force for both weeks, but the campains themselves tend to hold back, at least historically.

For sports championship games, they make merchandise stating both teams are the champions so that they have them available as soon as the game is over. This could be the same thing.

I was listening to talk radio and the broadcaster brought up the 'short' list and someone said that since they didn't pull Hillary's financial records she was off the list but the broadcaster said that since she was already put under the microscope for the presidential campaign she was still in--who knows.

McCain supposedly picked Roomey but word around here is Pawlenty since he got the prime speaker spot at the convention .

But I don't think this is the same thing. This report is of a printing company making the literature. At some point, you do have to start the printing process for whoever is really the nominee, and then a lot of eyes are going to be privy to that.

Weren't they suppose to announce today? It seems weird that they would wait this long into the evening. Wouldn't it be better to do it when adults were at work and they could get all excited about it with their coworkers, and then kids could be at school and talk about it with their peers?
