There are millioms of people who have attended the churches and missions, and faithfully watched the television services of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Billy Graham for YEARS. I suppose that ALL of those people are now homophobic, anti-Semitic, woman haters....NOT.

I thought Obama's original comment about not hearing incendiary comments while in the 'pew' was revealing. It sounded like double-speak for 'he heard Wright's comments at other times, just not when he was not in the pew'.

Although in his speech yesterday, Obama did claim that he indeed did hear the inflammatory comments made by the minister.

While I understand your sentiments, it really isn't the same. For decades we have been telling the black community that they need to get off the welfare and pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Several centuries of enslavement, followed by decades of segregation and crappy attempts at righting a wrong (through quotas etc). I sincerely cannot fault this church for trying to bring a community together that has systematically been beaten down. Do I think their efforts are perfect? No. Far from perfect ? Yes. Perhaps the church will change focus because of being under a miroscope, I don't know. I hope so.

Why is it he didn't feel Wright should have been replaced for his remarks. Why does Obama think it acceptable that a black man can be a racist but a white man cannot?
The more and more that comes out about Obama the more I see he does share some of the same views as Wright.

He will most likely get the nomination, but not the presidency. And I thought for sure the Democrats would be in the oval office in '09.

I agree. The only reason we had "The Speech" was because these videos came out. I was all for the guy before I saw what HIS pastor was about.

For me it was horrible that he would attend a church that would preach those types of sermons. To me that so called preacher is not a man of god, and I could not imagine how someones mind set would work being forced to listen to this every Sunday. No better then the Muslim school preaching hate and terrorism, I was not sure before but now I know who I am voting for.

I sorta agree, but, Rev. Wright goes on to really trash very successful (from practically nothing) black people such as Tiger Woods, Colin Powell, Condi Rice, etc. Why?

If Obama gets the nomination there is no way he would win. Obama has lost MANY Democrat supporters alone, not to mention people coming out of the woodworks just to vote AGAINT Obama.

And what does this have to do with Obama and HIS personal mentor/pastor/friend/advisor who baptised Obama's children as well as married him and his wife, AND who supposedly led Obama to Jesus?? Sorry, again, when and if someone runs for President of the US who supports a racist of the extreme measure, I'll be happy to denounce them also.

I heard it and was very impressed with his supreme acting abilities. I'm also in the boat who thinks he will not win if he gets the nomination.

I heard Hillary approved of his speech and thought he did a wonderful job. That was very funny, given I hadn't heard a peep out of her while all this racist stuff was taking place. Good Job Clinton camp.

Perhaps not-but the American attention span is notoriously short. A crisis in March may very well be a footnote by October. So much can happen between now and then to change anything.

I think the real issue that will drive November is the economy. Sure, those of us who are interested in politics will be talking about the day to day events on all sides, but when the average voter heads into that booth-they're thinking about their own household and how well or how poorly they are doing now as opposed to 4 or 8 years ago.
