The original sin is the whole deal going on with Adam and Eve. They betrayed God, as did Satan (which is how he got there), and were punished. Those punishments include periods, diseases, etc.
That's what I learned in my Roman Catholic CCD. Do I believe all of it? Heck no. But do I think there's some truth to it? Yeah.

first, its not an embryo for two weeks. "embryo" and "zygote" and "fetus" aren't interchangeable terms. the zygote would have to exist for two weeks minimum (usually its three) before it grows enough for stem cells to even form.

second, harvesting is only one method of receiving embryonic stem cells. surprise surprise, the majroity of you seem to be unaware that stem cells can even be found in the umbilical cord when the baby is delivered at full term. embryonic spinal stem cells are only one type of the many kinds of stem cell research. many support the idea of harvesting pre-abortion embryonic spinal stem cells. did any of you knwo that even ADULTS have stem cells?

and third, its not invitro, because there is no host mother. all of these things take place using donated eggs and sperm in a laboratory setting.

and fourth,
to those of you that don't support embryonic stem cell research, did you know that the blanket bill that is banning the use of federal money is preventing ALL types of research involving stem cells? even animal stem cells?

i think this argument would reach better conclusions if everyone was adequately informed.

First, ok, I'm sorry I used the wrong lingo.

Second, I realize that everything has stem cells. I was with one of my good friends at Stanford while she donated her stem cells to help a woman with Leukemia. That is not what the executive order is talking about; it's talking about embryonic stem cells. Stem cell research is still being used to this day; Bush's ban simply banned embryonic stem cells from being used do to it "destroying embryos".

I said it was basically like what they do for in vitro: they're taking a sperm and an egg and fertilizing it. The only thing they aren't doing is placing it inside of the mother.

Yes, I think men are superior to me, as will be my husband.

I wear my hair long because it's meant as a "cover" for women.
I trim my ends to make it look nice. God wants us to appear presentable.

About the men not touching me on my period, that applied back then, but alot of things in the bible dont apply now. Like, back then, God allowed the concept of "an eye for an eye,, etc." but not now. That's why he sent a flood. To eliminate the "bad" people, and let Noah start over.

I love shrimp. And these were practices done in the old testament, doesnt apply now.

The bible contradicts itself in lots of ways, you just have to know the correct way to interpret it.

I believe JW's follow still much of what's in the Old Testament, specifically Leviticus when it comes to unclean blood. No blood transfusions at all. Whatsoever, on excuses.

Wanda, personally I think it's sad that you see men as 'above' you some how. All these years of fighting for equal rights, and some women don't even think they're worthy of it.
