Oatmeal Cookies

Im looking for a chewie oatmeal cookie recipe. The last set I made were good but they weren't chewy enough for my liking. I was trying to find one that didn't involve shortening and maybe used vegetable oil...anyone have a good one?
Im wanting to make these cookies as a present to go along with some peanut brittle as that is what he requested oatmeal cookies and peanut brittle and may add raisins if that helps any :)

I've been looking for a good chewy oatmeal raisin cookie too! I LOVE soft and chewy oatmeal raisin cookie and I have yet to find a recipe that does it for me.
 
I use the recipe under the lid on Quaker oatmeal tubes, it has always turned out great! Just use real butter, it's the only way to go! :thumbsup2
 
I use the one on the inside of the Quaker Oats lid, and and add chocoalte chips instead of raisins. Everyone LOVES them. People beg me to make them all the time, and they are all eaten right up. Just don't overbake them, keep them in a tupperware or ziploc with a piece of bread (change the bread every 2 days) and they will be wonderful!
 
I make my oatmeal cookies using honey instead of oil or butter, along with a mixture of nuts and seeds, raisins, freshly ground flaxseed, cinnamon, Hershey's Dark Chocolate Chips. Not too long in the oven and they are chewy.

I don't have that quaker oatmeal tubes do you mind giving me the recipe ? :) We buy our oatmeal from a bulk store so we tend not to get the packaged stuff

Can someone post the Recipe for oatmeal cookies. Preferably simple/idiot proof please.
 
I dont bake. But was wondering if you can use packets from instant favour oatmeal?
if so.. what the recipe.?
 
There are TWO quaker oatmeal recipes....

I hope you guys who mentioned it will post the recipe, including the exact name of which cookie recipe it is.

1cup (2 sticks) margarine or butter softened
1 1/4 cups firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups oatmeal (quick or old fashioned uncooked)
1 12oz semi sweet chocolate chips (2 cups)
1 cup nuts optional

Heat oven to 375 degrees
beat together margarine and sugars until creamy
add eggs, milk, vanilla: beat well
add combined flour, baking soda, and salt mix well
stir in oats, chocolate chips and nuts, mix well
drop by tablespoons unto ungreased cookie pan
bake 9 to 10 minutes
cool, eat
5 dozen cookies

These are very good and soft, I usually substitute selfrising flour for the baking soda and salt, and I use margarine with them.
 
Okay, I found the one for QUAKER VANISHING OATMEAL RAISIN COOKIES

________________________

1/2 Cup (one stick) plus 6 tbs butter, softened
3/4 Cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 Cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 Cup all purpose flour
1 tsp. Baking soda
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
3 cups Quaker Oats
1 Cup raisins (or chocolate chips)

Preheat oven to 350'
In large mixing bowl:
blend softened butter and sugars until creamy
add eggs and vanilla, beat well
add dry ingredients - flour, baking soda, cinnamon, salt
Mix well
add oats, and raisins/chocolate chips
Mix well

Drop dough by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased cookie sheet
Bake 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown
Cool 1 minute, then remove from cookie sheet

That does sound different... I made crunchy oatmeal cookies with peanut butter chips the other day (this person prefers crunch cookies) and that was an interesting combo we really enjoyed them.
 
Yes, PixieDustandEeyore, I think raisins or the cinnamon chips would both be good. I enjoy the chocolate chips in them, but I may try the cinnamon ones too.
 
I used to have a recipe that used raisinettes instead of chocolate chips or raisins. They were wonderful! I wonder if any dissers have that recipe. The recipe also included cinnamon.
